Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree has a few quest lines for you to follow, and these bear various rewards. In our Five Tips for Beginners guide, we recommended getting started with a couple of these questlines in order to be able to summon certain NPCS in Shadow of the Erdtree’s tough boss fights. There are others worth keep track of, mind.
Dryleaf Dane is one of many NPCs in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, and he comes bearing an associated quest for you to complete, too. The rewards for finishing his quest make it worthwhile. Here is how to track him down.
Where to meet Dryleaf Dane in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree
First things first, Dryleaf Dane’s location is just near the Moorth Ruins Site of Grace, in Scadu Altus. Check our guide on How to get to Scadu Altus in Shadow of the Erdtree.) But if you try and talk to him you’ll get nothing back. You have to do a couple of things beforehand.
You will need the Monk’s Missive, which is a little piece of paper on which someone issues you a challenge to fight. You find the Monk’s Missive on the ground just near the Highroad Cross Site of Grace.
After you have found that, go to Dryleaf Dane’s location, stand in front of him, and perform the May the Best Win gesture. This will trigger a showdown: it’s a mini boss fight of sorts, with Dane rushing you and using his fists. The trick to this fight is to keep up a steady stream of melee hits, in order to stagger him. His attacks are pretty relentless, so just keep your distance and wait for an opening, then move in with a combo of your own. His defence is low (he’s only wearing a robe, after all), so your hits will do high damage
Once you have beaten Dane, you will be warped back to the Moorth Ruins Site of Grace, where you find a couple of items on the ground: the Dryleaf Arts and Dane’s Hat. You will also encounter Dryleaf Dane way later on, in Enir-Ilim, at which point you can fight him again (same strategy combat applies) and pick up a few more rewards: Dane’s Footwork, Dryleaf Arm Wraps, Dryleaf Cuissardes, and Dryleaf Robe.
