Agatha Christie: The ABC Murders

Large Donkey

Recommended Posts

I've moseyed over here from PS3T - hope that's allowed.

Has anyone actually managed to get this one? I'm trying to figure out if it's bugged or what, because I've played the game four times and haven't managed to identify all the triggers needed.

My list I can 100% confirm counts towards the trophy is as follows:

[spoiler=ID]SPOILERS!

1) Make Mary cry

2) Murderer is unpredictable

3) Theft is motive

4) Call Megan impatient (this is during the first group meeting about halfway through the game)

5) Heart attack for Black Swan

6) Use the real bullets

Between 5 and 6 is a HUGE chunk of game that I'm sure there's something there, but I haven't been able to manage it.

I suspect that getting Dragon Smoke also counts towards the Large Donkey count, but I got Dragon Smoke on PS4 yesterday on a no-mistake save and it didn't indicate that I'd made a mistake, so I'm at a complete loss.

If you've found anything, PLEASE post it. In the meantime, I'm putting up a walkthrough and guide over on PS3T if you all want to use it to make your lives a bit easier.

Small world! (Im Cla55yfied over on the steam forums!)

I am a little unclear on what is for sure a "mistake" as the game also just corrects itself anyway, a few things I can think of that could possibly count that I did during the playthrough when I got it are:

At the churston murder, say theft was a motive and the murderer is opportunistic

At the part before you phone the hotel say the wrong name and location (I went with the oriental sounding name and the ginger cat)

Others I think that counted you have already listed and I can't think of any more at the moment.

I already had my achievement before this point but I have wondered wheter saying the other 3 options in the final meeting in Poirot's apartment would count.

Sorry I don't have a definitive answer, I just played through the game picking deliberately wrong options and I got it at the same time I game Dunbar the heart attack.

Hello!

This game is just frustrating, and I'm all but convinced this achievement is bugged, at least on PS4. I've done four playthroughs making very obvious mistakes, and still haven't managed it. This game isn't particularly complex; it shouldn't be this difficult to achieve (in fact, the only reason I know 8 mistakes are needed is because of the XB achievements - have you read the descriptions for the PS4 ones?)

I listed the Churston murder one as #3 on my list there. I also said Wang Chung (or whatever his name was) and Ginger Cat, and nothing. Someone suggested trying Donbury and London, but those are lesser mistakes than saying Wang Chung and Ginger Cat, and are technically correct answers all things considered.

Given that the only person on PSN to get this achievement got it when giving the gun to Hastings - AKA the last point in the game where choices seem to matter - I'm willing to bet that's the last trigger. I tried giving all the wrong answers during the final group meeting, but it refuses to let you go through with any of them unless it's the correct answer.

I've been told that the "bad" way to question the final suspect is by using both the cough syrup and the sedatives instead of just the sedatives. I did this, and just ended up getting the Red Cross achievement either way, so that doesn't seem to count, either.

Again, unless it's bugged.

OKAY! I have a CONFIRMED Large Donkey list. Thank you to everyone who helped cobble it together.

In order:

[spoiler=large donkey]

1) Make Mary cry during her interrogation

2) Tell Japp murderer is unpredictable

3) Tell Japp murderer is opportunist, theft is motive

4) Ask Thora's aversion to Franklin Clarke - this unlocks Medium Donkey, which won't actually show up until the beginning of the first group meeting.

5) During first group meeting, call Megan impatient

6) During first group meeting, tell Donald you don't have to talk about uncomfortable things

7) Give Black Swan owner a heart attack over the phone

8) Give Hastings the gun with live ammo in it

There's probably others, but this is how I did it on PS4 tonight.

Since #4 takes place during the conversation path towards Dragon's Smoke, it's possible you may need to do two playthroughs of the game to get 1000G. Not sure though.

Anyways, I hope this helps!

I'm playing on Xbox One and cannot confirm your list. I know I've done all those mistakes but no achievement.

Also, I know of at least one more mistake, that I am sure of:

When talking to that fruit/vegetable saleswoman (right at the beginning), you can accuse of her lying and accuse her of murder. These count as mistakes, because on my second playthrough I got the medium donkey achievement after this conversation!

And:

Can anybody explain to me how to get the Dragon's Smoke achievement exactly? I'm on my third playthrough now and cannot seem to trigger the right thing in the conversation with Thora Grey. It is while you speak to her in the mansion, after she has been kissed by Franklin Clarke, right? I would be thankful, if anybody could explain this to me in detail.

Did you do your second playthrough on your cleared save file from your first playthrough? I think that messes things up. I played through with the list I posted on a brand new game last night and the trophy popped. Try it again on a clean save and let me know if it pops.

Dragon's Smoke is a two-part achievement. The first is during your time in the mansion - talk to her about gifts, the brooch, that it frightens Lady Clarke. The second half will be when you talk to her after earning Freud Moustache. That's when you need to talk about her suspicious departure, risky objects, and the curse of the dragon.
