Introduction:
Welcome to Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2, the original two games in the famous series, remastered and improved but still with all their original glory. The games see the return of the original skaters in them, plus many new popular skaters. Manuals and reverts have also been added to the first game, allowing for huge combos just like in the later games. While the simplicity of both games has been retained, there is still quite a bit to do in both games if you're after the completion. Just be aware that 970

Tours Mode:
Your first order of business upon starting the game should be to play through Tours mode (career mode). Pick a skater of your choice or create a skater (it doesn't matter which you do, because you'll have to use a pro skater and a created skater eventually anyway). Stick with that skater and progress through all of THPS1 and THPS2. As you progress, complete every goal in every level, obtain a gold medal on every competition, and collect all stat points for that skater. The guide below has more information on each of these tasks.
Once you complete all of the above in Tours mode, it should be at 100% complete for both games. You'll unlock a bunch of cheats (game mods) that will be helpful in the future. Now is a good time to enable them and replay levels to collect all alien plushies. Refer to The Truth is In Here (30G) for where to find them all.
Challenges
With the career mode completed, now is a good time to work on challenges. Specifically, mop up whatever Rookie challenges you have left (refer to Rookie of the Year (15G)), and then work on the Veteran (refer to Going to the Vet (30G)) and Legendary (refer to Legen-Dairy (80G)) challenges. The Rookie challenges should be really easy after completing the career mode. The Veteran challenges aren't difficult either, and are mainly a bit grindy and involve a lot of created parks and skaters. The Legendary ones will require a bit more work. Just remember that, unless a challenge explicitly says "Game Mods must be disabled," you can turn on all game mods (such as perfect balance and no bailing) to make them incredibly easy. The guide has easy ways to complete most challenges.
Completing all Legendary challenges will require you to complete all challenges with a created skater and to complete all challenges with three pro skaters. This is why I mentioned above that it doesn't matter which you choose to use for Tours mode.
This step will take a bit of time, but it'll get you a ton of XP and money in completing all of these challenges.
Gap Collections
With quite a bit of the game done at this point, the next thing I recommend completing are all of the gap collections. These are made far easier by the fact that game mods can be used for all gap collections. So turn them all on and work on landing every gap in every level. The Gap Master (80G) achievement solution has a bunch more information for this task. This will be a pretty decent chunk of play time, and only a few gaps have challenging timing and positioning.
Hard Get-Theres
Now it's time for, by far, the hardest part of this completion: the hard Get-Theres. These poorly-named challenges don't allow game mods, so you'll need to turn them all off. They require you to string together specific gaps in a single combo. Each level has a single one of these to complete. They typically require amazing manual or grinding balance, and will really test your patience. Thankfully there are some easy ones peppered amongst the incredibly frustrating ones. The Got There (80G) achievement solution has far more information. This is the hardest part of this completion, so if you can manage it, the rest will feel easy in comparison.
Multiplayer:
If you haven't already, now that virtually all single player tasks are completed, you can very quickly and easily unlock all multiplayer achievements. All of them can be done either with a second controller locally or with a boosting friend online. They can all be unlocked in under an hour, especially with a second controller. Refer to the guide for each one, which is marked in red to indicate it is a multiplayer achievement.
Mop-Up:
At this point I recommend mopping up whatever achievements you haven't unlocked aside for reaching level 100. Any miscellaneous ones that you didn't unlock by now, refer to them in the guide below to unlock them now. Most achievements have challenges associated with them, and you'll want all the XP you can get in preparation for the next step.
Grind to Level 100
All that should be left by now is to reach level 100 to unlock your final achievement. You'll likely be somewhere around level 60-70 after doing everything else above. While you may think this means you're over halfway there, think again. It probably took somewhere around 20 hours to get to where you're at, but unfortunately the amount of XP to reach level 100 is insane - level 84 is actually the halfway point in terms of total XP required to get to level 100. And with the vast majority of challenges already complete, there remains no real options remaining to get to level 100. The most efficient way, albeit extremely boring and repetitive, is to grind it out in single sessions. The ONE HUNDRED! (30G) achievement solution contains much more information. This unfortunately is a very repetitive grind. While it's not insanely long (10 hours or less), it still may make or break the completion for some. Good luck.
Conclusion:
This remake/remaster is a surprising gem. The fun factor from the original games is completely retained, as is the soundtrack. It's so easy to pick up and play, isn't bogged down by tons of tasks, but has a surprising amount of things to do for the completion. Unfortunately, reaching level 100 is a decent grind after all the work you need to put in to complete everything else. Even so, I highly recommend taking a trip down memory lane and picking up this great remaster to enjoy these games again.
