Note
I cannot stress enough that you read this roadmap and especially it's Augmentation section. If you do not have a certain upgraded Augmentation, you maybe regretting it later on! EXP can be hard to find sometimes and Praxis kits aren't always available in a LIMB Clinic. So if you need a level 5 hack to get an E-Book but you only have level 3, you maybe in some deep water. So please read the list below.
Introduction
Welcome to Deus Ex: Human Revolutions. The game is based around Adam Jenson who's head of security at Sarif Industries. After the person you love is killed and you're left for dead, Sarif turn you into a super human being and applies Augmentations to your body.
Deus Ex: Human Revolutions is a nice change up of what you see nowadays in games and opens a lot of doors for you in the way of gameplay. Once in a situation, you can choose many routes to take and are not bound by one direct path. So feel free to take the stealth way around the enemies, or simply go in guns blazing, the choice is yours.
Achievementwise, Deus Ex has many different varieties. If you're going to try and get the full 1000 in one playthrough, you're going to have to take the stealth route and be patient! You should also watch out for many of the misc achievements plus the collectables.
Story
If you want to get the full 1000 in one playthrough, you'll need to head straight onto the Hard (Legend) difficulty. Then from here you'll want to play the game without killing one person or being caught. You can freely knock people out with passive takedowns (Tap
) or stun them with your tranquillizer or stun guns. To not get caught is a little trickier, but all you have to worry about is not letting the alert level reach 'Hostile'.
Missable
Once you have the above sorted out and grained into your brain, make sure you follow the guides below on all the side missions. In most of them there are two different ways you can end/take them. One being passive and the other a malice. So if you're trying for the 'Pacifist' achievement, save before you choices you have to make, do one then reload and continue with the other.
Carrying on from the missables are the endings. There are 4 possible endings to Deus Ex, and to get all 4 there will be some things you'll need to do. All are listed in the guide at the point you need to do them.
Collectables (Missable)
There's a total of 29 E-Books hidden throughout the game. There's actually way more than this, but only 29 actually count towards the achievement. When you pick up an E-Book and the XP bonus 'Scholar' pops up on the left side, this is one of the 29.
Be warned, that some are missable if a certain task is not preformed at certain points in the game. If you do not do these you'll never be able to get to the certain destinations where the E-Books lies. Again, I'll list these in the guide.
Saving
Seeing as some of the achievements require you to take one of two routes, this is where you have to use the save trick. When an achievement presents itself with multiple endings, make a physical save before either handing it in or making a choice. Make the first choice that breaks the 'Pacifist' achievement, then hand it in. You'll then want to reload the save and choose the none lethal option.
Some choices are not all bad or good, so it doesn't matter which one you finally decide to go ahead with. Just follow the guide below to make sure no mistakes are made. I'll also point out when you should make a save. I'll put this - *Save* - in the descriptions to let you know which achievements will require a physical save.
Augmentations
You're going to need certain Augmentations to unlock certain achievements and E-Books. Plus some will definitely help you bypass guarded areas with ease! So I recommend you buy these as soon as you can!
Cranium Augmentations
- Social Enhancer: Needed for certain conversations that unlock achievements.
- Hacking - Capture: You'll want to get this to level 5. You'll need it to hack certain safes or rooms to obtain E-Books and later achievements!
Torso Augmentations
- Sarif Series 8 Energy Converter: Feel free to buy one or two more of these. Plus buy the 'Bass Recharge Rate' Augmentation.
- Typhoon Explosive System: Buy both the 'Light/Heavy Damage Varient' Augmentations. These will help a lot with boss battles.
Eye Augmentations
- Smart Vision: This is up to you but it may help and be worth purchasing the 'Wall-Penetrating Imager' when in a heavy guarded room.
Back Augmentations
- Icarus Landing System: Must buy for one E-Book later in the game.
Skin Augmentations
- Dermal Armour: Worth buying the 'Damage Reduction' Augmentations for the boss battles, but it's up to you.
- Cloaking System: Buy all the 'Cloaking Longevity' Augmentations as soon as you can, or at least the first. This will help you 100x more for passing areas without getting spotted!
If you feel like purchasing anything else, feel free. Though the above are the musts and if you buy something else instead and come to a point where you need one of the above and you're yet to get it because you wanted to sprint for longer, you only have yourself to blame. Don't worry though, as once you have what you need, you'll be racking in the Praxis Points, so you can go all out!
Conclusion
Overall this game is a fun and challenging 1000 to obtain. It's not going to be one of the easiest rides and in some cases it may take it's time but it's part of the game. The rule is; Take your time! There's no rush, and there's plenty of sneak backdoor routes you can take to make this a lot smoother ride!

Missing Link DLC Road Map
Overview:
Estimated achievement difficulty: 4/10
Offline: 10 [250]
Online: 0 [0]
Approximate time: 5-10hrs
Minimum number of play-throughs needed: 1 (2 recommended)
Missable achievements: Yes
Does difficulty affect Achievements? No
Unobtainable/glitched achievements?: Unknown
Cost: 1200 Microsoft Points
Introduction:
During Adam's quest for the truth in Deus Ex: Human Revolution, he mysteriously vanishes for three days. Where was he? What did he find out? The Missing Link reveals it all. After being tortured by Belltower agents and having his augmentations disabled, Adam Jensen must rely solely on his basic capabilities to escape from a freighter, destined for an unknown location. While fighting for his survival on the ship, he uncovers another layer to the conspiracy that he never would have suspected.
Story:
I have listed the achievements in order, so spoilers won't be unnecessarily given out.
The achievements for this DLC can be all earned within one playthrough if you save correctly and follow strict instructions from this guide.
It would, however, be more fun to play the DLC the way you want to instead of being limited by achievements, but whatever floats your boat, you can get the achievements done and get the DLC out of the way, or you can enjoy the full 'The Missing Link' experience.
Misc:
The game only has two unmissable, story-related achievements. The other eight require you to go out of your way and do things you wouldn't normally do, which is interesting because it opens up more options within the DLC.
Collectables:
The only real form of collectables are the three data disks to get The Learn'd Scholar achievement. These aren't hard to find and should prove no hassle if you follow the guide.
Conclusion:
'The Missing Link' is a fantastic, lengthy and fun piece of content to add to your Deus Ex experience. Although the price tag of 1200 microsoft points may seem a little too much, it is well worth the price, and if you're holding out for a deal of the week, then you're really missing out.
The achievements aren't overly difficult if handled correctly, and the DLC will be well worth your time.
