Introduction:
"Welcome to Reach", the highly anticipated prequel by Bungie Software, part of the Halo Series. You will be taking control of Noble 6, part of the Noble Spartan Team. Fighting for the survival of Reach is your number one priority. You will go from destroying the Covenant offensive, saving civilians from imminent doom, and seeing a plot unfold. Get ready to wage war on humanities worst enemies, one more time.
Breakdown:
If you are a experienced Halo player, you can most likely jump right into the Campaign and complete it on Legendary difficulty alone. This may be the toughest Halo to date due to the AI being much smarter and agile. There are no collectibles to be found in this Halo.
Also, for "A Monument to All Your Sins", you must complete the game on Legendary on your own. As there are two separate "Complete the game on Legendary" achievements. Below I will post what Is recommend as how you should play through the game to get yourself 1000 with minimal frustration.
You must play on Normal or higher difficulty to get achievements like "Banshees", "Fast and Low", "KEEP IT CLEAN", etc.
Step One: Campaign: (25 Achievements for 725)
Campaign for Newer/Moderate Halo Players
(2 Campaign Playthroughs):
If you are newer/a moderate Halo player, then this is recommended for you to know the game and where enemies spawn.
First play through the campaign on Normal difficulty to understand how the game is and to get a feel for it. This will get you a minimum of 125 by just completing the campaign on Normal.
Then start your playthrough on Legendary by yourself and play through the campaign again. This should go faster since you know the feel of the controls and how the enemy AI responds. This will get you 325 for just completing it on Legendary alone. For more tips on Legendary, please refer to "Gods Must Be Strong".
Campaign for Experienced Halo Players
(1 Campaign Playthrough): Legendary
If you are a experienced Halo player, then this should be easier for you then others. Play through all ten missions found in the Campaign on Legendary. Take your time around the corners and stick back. For completing the campaign on Legendary alone, it will net you a minimum of 440. For more tips on Legendary, please refer to "Gods Must Be Strong".
Step Two: Firefight: (6 Achievements for 155)
Firefight has 6 achievements that relate to it. Firefight is much easier this time around as there are things you can enable like infinite ammo and unlimited health. Download this Firefight settings file to your account from Bungie to complete "Firestarter", "Blaze Of Glory ", " Heat In The Pipe", "Game, Set, Match " and "Crowd Control" in one easy go.
Step Four: Multiplayer: (9 Achievements for 65)
The multiplayer achievements are very spare in this portion of the game. This should take you the largest amount of time as it has to deal with uploading/recommending files, winning certain game types, and earning a killing spree. The longest portion will be getting to the level of Lt. Colonel to purchase an item. If you want to boost any of these achievements, please refer to this thread: Achievement Trading Thread.
Step Five: Misc/Clean up:
After completing the game on Legendary difficulty alone and doing all Firefight/Multiplayer Achievements. All you should have left is reaching a certain rank in UNSC, doing something misc. in a certain mission and killing enemies with a certain weapon. Refer to the guide below for any achievements you're still missing.
For this achievement, you need to gain a double kill with a shotgun, meaning you gain two kills with the shotgun within four seconds of each other. This achievement will come naturally as you play this game mode. It is very likely you will get it in your first match. The odds of you getting this will increase even more if you stay alive longer than most, simply stay in a safe spot with your shotgun out and you will eventually get it.
Step Two: Rocket Race Match ("Offensive Driver"):
For this achievement, you need to obtain a single kill in the game mode "Rocket Race." This is arguably the easiest achievement on the list. To easily gan a kill, flip an enemy warthog over, causing the enemies to leave their vehicle. Depending on your position in the Warthog, you will need to shoot your rockets, your rocket launcher, or run over the players to gain the achievement.
Step Three: Big Team Battle Match(es) ("Cross Mappin'", "Poppin' & Lockin'", "Totally Worth It", "You Ate All The Chips" (Possibly), and "You Blew It Up!" (Possibly):
All of these five achievements are possible to obtain in the playlist 'Big Team Battle,' but they may be easier done in the playlist for their appropriate game type.
Step Four: Mop Up
As stated before, if you were not able to obtain any of the achievements within the 'Big Team Battle' playlist, it may be best to obtain the remaining achievements in their respective playlists. If that fails, most if all of the achievements are easily boostable.
Note: The original three achievements from this DLC ("Return to Sender", "Crackin' Skulls" and "Candy from a Baby") are obtainable on any map. This includes original maps from the game and maps from the two other map packs (Noble and Anniversary). The other three achievements ("Don't Touch That!", "Paper Beats Rock" and "All Alone") are only obtainable on the Defiant maps (Condemned and Highlands). It is highly recommended that the latter three achievements are boosted, as there is no specific playlist for these maps. They will only appear if everybody in the matchmade game owns the map pack.
Step 1: Team Objective
This requires ten players. Begin matchmaking in the Team Objective playlist. Here, you will be able to get " Return to Sende r", "Candy from a Baby", "Don't Touch That!" and "Paper Beats Rock". It is recommended to get the latter two in the same gam e if Armor Lock is a load-out option. "Crackin' Skulls" can also be gained in this playlist, but you may prefer to do it in Rumble Pit which only requires 8 players.
It is also worth noting here that the Team Objective playlist is within the "Evolved" section of playlists. This means that it has received a "Title Update". Title updated game types are marked with "TU" at the start of their names (you will notice this on the voting screen). Some game types within this playlist do not contain Armor Lock as a loadout option, so bear this in mind when going for "Paper Beats Rock".
Step 2: Living Dead
This requires twelve players. "All Alone" is achieved in the Living Dead playlist. Infection games last for 3 rounds, so once you get a game on Condemned/Uplink, a maximum of three people have the opportunity to get this in a single game. The Living Dead playlist is found within the "Standard" section of playlists.
This DLC adds 6 PvP maps (Solitary, Battle Canyon, High Noon, Penance, Ridgeline and Breakneck) and one Firefight map (Installation 04). These achievements must be unlocked on these maps and cannot unlock in custom games; they must be matchmade games. As always, finding a dedicated boosting party will allow you to unlock these much quicker.
Mode-Specific Achievements:
Infection - Infection mode has a maximum of 12 people (depending on the playlist). The only achievement you can unlock in this mode for this DLC is “Emergency Room.” For this one, all that is required is you infect three people before the match ends.
Capture the Flag - Capture the Flag mode has a maximum of 8 people. “Stick it to the Man!” must be unlocked specifically in this mode. Make sure you are carrying plasma grenades then find the flag carrier and kill them by sticking them. This is best done on smaller maps like Battle Canyon.
Headhunter - Headhunter mode has a maximum of 12 people (depending on the playlist). “Bounty Hunter” can only be unlocked in this mode. All that is required is you collect 10 (or more) skulls (either by killing enemies or picking them up from already dead enemies) and deposit them in the safe zone. Doing so will also award the player with the ‘Skullamanjaro’ medal.
Mop Up:
If you didn’t manage to unlock these, you should have “Top Shot,” “Dive Bomber,” “License to Kill,” “From Hell’s Heart” left. These can be unlocked in any mode except Infection. The requirements for these are not difficult and you should get these through natural gameplay if trying.
Overall Conclusion:
Halo: Reach is without a doubt, if not the best Halo game that has come out from the series. It shows what the series can still continue to achieve and progress even when we sometimes think there couldn't be more done to make it a better game. Truly, one for the record books.
