Introduction:
Halo: The Master Chief Collection is without a doubt, one of this year’s most ambitious titles. As a means of celebrating the ten-year anniversary of Halo 2 and brining the series to the Xbox One, 343 Industries has bundled the complete experiences of all the Master Chief games in the Halo series this holiday. Here, you will be able to tackle all four Campaigns of Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 2: Anniversary, Halo 3, and Halo 4, as well as relive all four Multiplayer experiences, complete with every map every shipped – DLC and PC exclusives included. The achievement list for Halo: The Master Chief Collection is grand. Covering, for the first time, 4500 gamerscore, there are four hundred and fifty achievements to be earned. The achievements are split between six distinct segments – Overall, Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 2: Anniversary Multiplayer, Halo 3, and Halo 4 – and will task players with a number of feats both familiar and fresh. There are Easter Eggs to be discovered, mission-specific achievements to be tackled, collectibles to be recovered, and a number of milestone-based achievements spanning both the single-player campaign and multiplayer. At a bare minimum, given one pesky achievement, it will take three months to complete the entire game. With enough skill, persistence, and dedication, Halo: The Master Chief Collection will be one hell of a completion to show off on your tag.
Initial Playthrough - Legendary (Reroute to "Playlist" section if new/unfamiliar to Halo games):
As a personal recommendation, go ahead and play through each of the four campaigns on the Legendary difficulty setting right from the start. You can opt to play cooperatively with friends or by yourself as it doesn’t matter too much. During these four initial playthroughs, you will naturally unlock forty achievements for completing each individual mission in the four campaigns as well as another sixteen achievements for completing each individual campaign on the legendary difficulty setting. If on these playthroughs you undertook cooperative action, you will also unlock three achievements after finishing your very first mission on legendary with a Co-Op partner. When playing through the campaigns, make sure to familiarize yourself with enemy AI behavior and the level design for each mission. These two facets will be extremely important in later playthroughs.
During these initial runs, take the time to thoroughly explore each and every mission. Exploration will be necessary in hunting down three sets of collectibles: terminals in all four campaigns, skulls in the first three campaigns, and toys in the Halo 2 campaign. In total, there are thirty-eight terminals to activate, which will net you forty-three achievements; there are forty-one skulls to recover, which unlock another forty-six achievements; and lastly, there are eight new toys to hunt down, which will unlock nine achievements. Please keep in mind that in regards to the skull collectibles, Halo 2's skulls, unlike Halo: CE and Halo 3, must be collected on legendary with the exception of Blind and Assassins.
The initial playthrough craze does not end there. Use this time wisely to knock out the many mission-specific achievements that are tied to the Legendary difficulty. There are quite a few mission-specific achievements to take into account: fourteen in Halo: Combat Evolved, seven in Halo 2, five in Halo 3, and seven in Halo 4. As a means of minimizing the amount of playthroughs necessary for completion, let’s take into consideration the Easter Egg achievements at this time. In Halo: Combat Evolved, there are seven that must be discovered. In Halo 2, there are ten eggs. In Halo 3, there are another ten worth hunting down. Lastly, in Halo 4, there’s only one single egg worth discovering.
It’s almost time wrap up the initial playthroughs section of this walkthrough, but before we can do that, let’s shift focus to some of the overall achievements that span all four titles. Between slaughtering all nine enemy types across the four campaigns, unlocking campaign medals, and completing campaign missions, you will naturally gain progress towards forty-four of the overall achievements within the game. Chances are you will only make a small dent in these achievements, but the next few playthroughs are sure to see said tasks complete in no time.
UPDATE:
The activation and utilization of negative scoring skulls such as BANDANA and SCARAB will no longer void any achievements related to mission completion and campaign completion. Unfortunately, these skulls will still void Par Time and Par Score achievements.
NOTE OF IMPORTANCE:
At any time during these initial playthroughs within the Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2 campaign, make sure to swap between classic mode and remastered mode at least once per mission. This is necessary for Halo: Combat Evolved's "Before and After" achievement and Halo 2’s "Tighten Up The Graphics" achievement.
LASO Playthrough (Preferably Co-Op):
This is where the campaigns of all four Halo games become a horrendously intimidating nightmarish hell, while ironically remaining one of the most satisfying experiences in all of gaming. For those unfamiliar with the term “LASO,” it’s a cleverly designed acronym for what was once considered a fan-made difficulty setting in the Halo games. Originally called, “Mythic” this difficulty setting has become a legitimate staple within the Halo series, tasking players to complete the entirety of a campaign on legendary, with every skull modifier turned on at once; in other words, Legendary All Skulls On.
In Halo: The Master Collection, players will be rewarded with four individual achievements that pertain to successfully completing each of the four Campaign’s new LASO playlists, while a fifth achievement will unlock once all four LASO playlists have been completed. Get ready to grab your closest friends and probably stalk and beg the best Halo players on the web. You’re going to need a skilled and persistent team to get these five achievements done. With certain skulls permanently cloaking enemies, and others that remove your HUD and recreate enemy behavior to mirror that of omniscient creatures that know your every move and hiding spot, these four playthroughs will test even the mightiest of seasoned Halo veterans.
NOTE OF IMPORTANCE:
Each of the Campaign's LASO playlist achievements can now be exploited by sharing checkpoints. If one player gets to the final mission of a Campaign, they can "Save/Quit," invite another player to the lobby, and "Resume" the playlist. When the final mission loads, the host should now "Save/Quit" again. This will give any players in the lobby that final mission's starting checkpoint for whichever Campaign's LASO playlist this was done for.
Cross-Game & Game Specific Playlist Playthroughs:
Halo: The Master Chief Collection marks the debut of Campaign playlists. These playlists aim to string together a series of campaign missions that share a common thread. There are specific campaign playlists for each individual game, as well as cross-campaign playlists. At this time, there are a total of eleven achievements related to these playlists. While hopping back into the campaigns so many times may seem daunting and even downright boring, it’s a task that requires your full attention and dedication to the single-player.
These achievements are actually quite enjoyable. They speak to the confidence of the developer in creating such unique playlists that revolve around a central element, such as packaging all the Flood missions across the first three campaigns or packaging all the vehicular missions of Halo 2. Again, these achievements are tedious, but other than the Master Chief Saga playlist (which is considered the third full playthrough [automatically set to Normal] of all 45 campaign missions), they shouldn’t be too bad nor take too long. On the bright side, these playlists will help add progress for the overall kill, mission completion, and medal obtainment achievements!
Par Time & Par Score Playthroughs:
These are the last two full playthroughs of each campaign you’ll have to endure. In total, there are forty-four Par Time achievements - eleven in Halo: Combat Evolved, fourteen in Halo 2, ten in Halo 3, and nine in Halo 4 – and forty-four Par Score achievements - eleven in Halo: Combat Evolved, forteen in Halo 2, ten in Halo 3, and nine in Halo 4.
These tasks require players to complete each mission of every campaign in two ways. For par time, you’ll have to complete the mission under a specific allotted time (in other words, speed-running). As for par score, you’ll need to achieve the base competitive score for each mission. If you have played Halo 3 in the past, the par score achievements are similar to the meta game scoring achievements seen there. Points will be rewarded based off medals obtained in combat; such as killing sprees, melee attacks, headshots, and multikills.
All in all, some of these achievements may actually come naturally during any of the previous playthroughs, though for the sake of breaking down the achievement list, par time and par score achievements are best explained as if they are to be done in their own separate playthroughs. This is because of the following reasons:
- Your initial playthrough is already covering a vast majority of the achievement list, meaning you can’t beat the Par Time for every mission while collectible hunting and grabbing other mission-specific achievements;
- Given the difficulty of your LASO playthroughs, there is no possible way to achieve Par Time on each mission, let alone Par Score if you’re skipping firefights;
- Many of the playlists do not cover every single mission in a Campaign, so it’s impossible to fully pair these achievements with the playlists playthrough;
- A dedicated playthrough here for each Campaign adds even more progress for those pesky overall kill, mission completion, and medal obtainment achievements.
As stated before, you don’t necessarily have to follow this suggestion, however it’s what is best for completion purposes. As a final note, there are four different achievements that are rewarded for completing each of the four campaigns on the Legendary difficulty setting in under three hours. By utilizing the speed running tactics in the videos provided in the guide below, you will almost certainly grab the par time achievements for each of the missions on the way. As for par scores, these can be approached in a solo or co-op playthrough and you can visit THIS LINK, courtesy of Life Expectancy, for detailed information regarding how the par scores are best obtained in each mission of the four campaigns.
Miscellaneous Tasks:
At this time, it would appear that a few miscellaneous achievements remain. Get ready to mark your calendars; playing a game of Halo: Combat Evolved on the 15th of any month, a game of Halo 2 on 9th of any month, a game of Halo 3 on the 25th of any month, and a game of Halo 4 on the 6th of any month, will unlock four distinct achievements. Other than that, there are a few achievements between Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2 that are not directly tied to a specific mission. For example, in Halo: Combat Evolved, there are achievements for killing a Hunter with a single pistol round, completing a level without jumping, and completing a level on Legendary without taking health damage. As for Halo 2, you’ll need to keep in mind that there are achievements for completing a level in co-op on Heroic with the Masterblaster Skull active, completing a level on Heroic with only the Streaking Skull active, killing seven enemies from behind in a row without being spotted, completing any campaign level without dying on Normal, and killing a berserk brute with a melee attack. As a standard set of miscellaneous achievements, these can be achieved on any mission, so long as the pre-requisites are in place.
Multiplayer for Main Game:
The multiplayer portion in Halo: The Master Chief Collection will consume a good amount of your time. Primarily, a small chunk of the online achievements are milestone-based. For instance, you’ll need to win five hundred online matches (custom games work as an alternative) for a total of eleven achievements. Likewise, although the next two tasks are split between campaign and multiplayer, you’ll also be asked to complete five hundred missions or online matches (custom games work as an alternative) and obtain a grand total of ten thousand unique campaign or multiplayer playlist medals. The former task covers twelve achievements and the latter covers eleven different achievements. In addition to these two tasks, you will also be required to kill at least twenty thousand enemies or players between campaign and multiplayer. Again, this covers three separate achievements. Lastly, one of the most burdensome achievements on the list requires players to boot up a custom Game of capture the flag on Halo: Combat Evolved’s Blood Gulch. The catch is that you’ll need to do this with four players on the same console. As you can see, many of the aforementioned achievements will unlock through minimal effort as you spend time battling online opponents through the online matchmaking.
On the other hand, there several achievements related to custom games, forge mode, and the Halo 2: Anniversary Multiplayer playlist. For example, there are two achievements related to creating five custom game types and crafting five maps in forge mode, while another achievement is rewarded for killing a 343 Industries developer (or a player who has). In addition to this, there are five multiplayer Easter Egg achievements related to particular Halo 2 (Classic) maps, thirty-five competitive multiplayer achievements related to Halo 2: Anniversary playlists, and three multiplayer Easter Egg achievements related to Halo 3 maps. As mentioned, some of these achievements are as simple as finding a hidden Easter Egg in a multiplayer map, though a decent amount of them are rewarded for performing luck-based and skill-based feats while playing on specific maps and in specific playlists. Fortunately for us, nearly all of the multiplayer achievements can be obtained with secondary controllers or even by ourselves in custom games, except for the following seven below.
NOTE OF IMPORTANCE:
All of the multiplayer Easter Eggs and Halo 2: Anniversary multiplayer achievements can be unlocked in custom games alone or with other players so long as the achievement description does not say, “in a matchmade game.” Thus, "Shields Up!," "MVP," "Warden," "Ninja Redux," and "Flaming Ninja Anniversary" are five achievements that must be done in matchmaking. Additionally, despite its description not stating so, "Zealot" must be done in matchmade games as well. Finally, "Bite the Hand" will require an online connection so that you can play against another player, but this can be done in custom games.
Mop-Up for Main Game:
At this point, you’ve exhausted the four campaigns to the point of never having any intention to return to their narratives. You have probably even dedicated more than one hundred hours to the multiplayer as well. If you have somehow missed any of the four hundred and fifty achievements on this list – chances are you did – simply use this time to mop them up. It should be noted that if your full Legendary playthroughs of the Halo 4 campaign were always done cooperatively, you unfortunately have to revisit that campaign yet again. Halo 4 is the only game that requires players to complete the campaign on solo Legendary, so keep that in mind. Other than that sad piece of news dropped here, you should be good to go in terms of mopping up what’s left, especially on the multiplayer portion of this collection.
Spartan Ops Title Update DLC

+ LifeExpectancy's Boosting Guide
Introduction to Spartan Ops:
Welcome back, Spartans. In Halo: The Master Chief Collection’s latest Title Update, 343 Industries has showered us with fifty new achievements for a total of five-hundred achievements. This new list covers the basics of the newly implemented Spartan Ops Mode for Halo 4, as well as introducing some multiplayer milestone achievements and smaller miscellaneous tasks. Most of the new achievements can actually be obtained offline and solo, though nine of the multiplayer achievements will require an online connection for matchmaking. Additionally, all twelve of the multiplayer achievements are retroactive, so any progress you already had for them will be tracked (some players are not receiving their retroactive tracking correctly). Get ready to score several thousand headshots, amass a variety of grindy multiplayer medals, and complete Spartan Ops on the Legendary difficulty. Since this list covers such tedious multiplayer tasks, it may take more than one hundred hours of gameplay to nab all fifty achievements.
Spartan Ops:
Halo 4’s Spartan Ops mode makes a return in Halo: The Master Chief Collection and brings with it a total of twenty-one achievements. For those who have played through the original Halo 4, these achievements will be very familiar. For the newcomers, it’s best to mention that Spartan Ops is a cooperatively driven mission-based mode that allows parties of up to four players to partake in Crimson Team’s adventures as the Spartan IV’s deal with Covenant and Promethean threats after the events of the Halo 4 campaign. There are a total of ten episodes in Spartan Ops, each of which contain five chapters.
Your first Spartan Ops achievement will be earned for completing any of the chapters, while another eleven achievements are earned for completing all ten episodes. Additionally, there are four difficulty-related completion achievements for completing the entirety of Spartan Ops on Normal, Heroic, Legendary, and solo Legendary. There are also three chapter-specific achievements in Spartans Ops that are best done with cooperative partners. Lastly, there are two miscellaneous achievements to be obtained in Spartan Ops, one of which requires players to perform an assassination on a Promethean Knight and another that invites players to find one of the many hidden RvB Easter Eggs in any chapter.
Multiplayer:
343 Industries has dropped another round of multiplayer achievements this time around. Unfortunately, only three of these twelve achievements can be boosted in custom games (or even obtained through Spartan Ops). These three achievements are for achieving 2,500 headshots, obtaining 2,500 assists, and receiving 250 beat down medals (not to be confused with melee attack medals; beat downs must be from behind).
As for the other nine achievements, they must all be obtained in matchmaking, which automatically proves to be a near impossible feat given the rough state of the multiplayer, the harsh restrictions on the achievements, and the nature of such milestone-based achievements. On the note of harsh restrictions, there are two achievements that can only be obtained on Halo 2 Anniversary maps. One of these achievements asks players to obtain 100 Splatter medals and the other achievement asks players to obtain 100 Environmentalist medals. The former is best obtained through the Halo 2 Anniversary on Stonetown or Big Team Battle’s playlist on Bloodline, while the latter can really only be obtained on Lockdown. Lockdown appears most frequently in the standard H2A playlist, the Halo Championship Series playlist, and the Team SWAT playlist.
Two of the remaining seven achievements ask players to dip their toes in objective matches and receive a grand total of 250 King of the Hill medals and 250 Capture the Flag medals. There’s also two achievements that reward excellent skill, one of which asks players to obtain 100 Killing Spree medals and another that requires players to obtain 100 Legendary medals. As for the last three achievements, they can be obtained for earning a total of 250 Double Kill medals, 250 Killjoy medals, and 500 Grenade Kills or Plasma Kill medals.
Clearly, these nine matchmaking-only achievements will require players to invest countless hours, maybe hundreds, in the multiplayer portion of the game. Given the rough state of the multiplayer, it’ll take a considerably long time to earn all of these achievements, and unfortunately, there are very few boosting methods that exist in order to speed up the process. With enough skill, dedication, and time, any devoted Halo player can nab all these achievements in a matter of weeks.
UPDATE:
Thanks to LifeExpectancy, there is a user-friendly boosting guide (FOUND HERE) that explains to players the different methods involved in obtaining all of the matchmaking-only achievements with two parties of four to five players. Though this general boosting method may prove to be a difficult set-up (and will take longer unless performed with two players who have four controllers each), it will help those looking to find decent workarounds for the milestone-based achievements.
Miscellaneous for Spartan Ops:
This title update also brings with it a host of miscellaneous achievements that aren’t necessarily tied to Halo 4’s Spartan Ops or the matchmaking portion of multiplayer. In fact, you’ll come to notice that there is an achievement that requires players to complete a campaign mission with all of that particulars campaign’s LASO playlist skulls enabled. Additionally, there’s an achievement tied to custom games in Halo: Combat Evolved for launching a Warthog in the air for five seconds and then having it splatter an enemy. Lastly, Halo 3’s Mythic multiplayer map skulls have returned which offer a total of seven achievements. These skulls are tied to the following maps: Assembly, Citadel, Heretic, Longshore, Sandbox, and Orbital.
Beyond all that, there are a total of eight achievements that can be quickly boosted on your own in custom games. Four of these achievements ask players to complete a match on at least eight different multiplayer maps for Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2 Classic, Halo 3, and Halo 4. The other four achievements here task players with completing a match on at least four different game types in Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2 Classic, Halo 3, and Halo 4. Let it not be mistaken that it’s eight different maps per game and four different game types per game.
Conclusion for Spartan Ops:
Overall, the latest title update for Halo: The Master Chief Collection brings a total fifty new achievements to the game, a small amount of which will require players to spend hundreds of hours on the Multiplayer portion of the game. Between the twenty-one Spartan Ops achievements, the thirteen multiplayer achievements, and the eleven miscellaneous achievements there’s enough incentive for players to hop around the different aspects of the game and mop up whatever achievements they desire to grab. If you’re looking to grab all fifty however, be prepared to invest most of your gaming time to Halo’s broken Multiplayer.
Halo 3: ODST DLC & ODST Title Update DLC
(Full Roadmap found HERE)
Introduction
Welcome back, Spartans! In late May of 2015, 343 Industries added a brand new expansion to the already massive Halo: The Master Chief Collection. For those who played the Collection between launch date and the 19th of December (2014), Halo 3: ODST is a free expansion that adds ninety-nine new achievements to the frey. There's also an additional achievement under a smaller Title Update for the newly remastered Remnant Multiplayer map, thus making it one hundred new achievements for a total of one thousand gamerscore. This new list covers the basics of the newly implemented ODST Campaign, from mission and game completion, to par scores, par times and even a variety of miscellaneous tasks. Additionally, the single Remnant achievement is a task familiar to fans of the collection, as players will have to find another BLAST soda can hidden in the map. Prepare to drop with this enjoyable expansion and get ready to experience the ODST Campaign all over again on Xbox One.
Halo 3: ODST Playthrough
To begin, go ahead and start the Halo 3: ODST Campaign on Legendary from the get-go. It's suggested to run this playthrough with one or two Co-Op partners, but playing on your own is perfectly fine as well. During this playthrough, you will naturally unlock fourteen story-related achievements, as well as four achievements for stacking the Campaign completion on the highest difficulty setting. On top of this, it's worth taking the time in between missions to track down the hidden collectibles in the New Mombasa Streets. There are thirty collectibles here (29 in the Streets, which then unlock 1 in Data Hive, the game's seventh mission), all of which have their own achievement and then an overall achievement for finding all thirty. This playthrough may net a couple of other achievements, such as par times, par scores, and miscellaneous feats, though focus on collectibles and Campaign completion for the time being.
Halo 3: ODST Playlists
Much like the previous games, Halo 3: ODST features Campaign playlists. As one could imagine, there's an achievement for completing a single playlist, as well as completing three playlists and a LASO playlist. For the purposes of these achievements, it's best to complete the Legendary playlist as your first playthrough, the LASO playlist as your second playthrough, and then choose a short playlist for the final selection. When tackling the LASO playlist, please refer to the guide below for brief notes concerning key details on each of the Campaign's eight missions. Remember, it's always better to tackle such a playlist with a group of dedicated players rather than trying to do it on your own.
Par Scores, Par Times, & Legendary Speed Run
Although it would be overwhelming to complete a second, dedicated Legendary playthrough for speed running purposes, it has been found by many community members that even a casual approach to the Campaign on Legendary (your first playthrough) can easily net the achievement that requires players to complete all eight missions - not counting the New Mombasa Street segments - on the highest difficulty in under three hours. To reiterate, this will most likely come naturally to most players without much planning, attention, or knowledge of the missions. As for the par scores, most of these will most likely come naturally during your initial Legendary playthrough, with the exception of (possibly), Uplift Reserve and Coastal Highway. If this happens, you'll need to tweak the difficulty and skulls for individualized mission runs. For par times, these might be a little difficult to stack on Legendary. As such, lowering the settings down to Easy for individualized mission playthroughs is your best bet for achieving the par time achievements.
Miscellaneous
Much like the previous games in the collection, Halo 3: ODST's achievement list also brings with it a number of miscellaneous achievements ranging from hidden Easter Eggs to mission-specific achievements, some of which are tied to the Heroic or Legendary difficulties. Most of these might not necessarily come naturally to players during their previous playthroughs, though loading up missions via the Campaign lobby at any time will work fine when hunting down what's left. For example, there's an achievement for completing a mission on Solo Legendary without firing your weapon or throwing a grenade, and achievements for killing five sleeping Grunts on the New Mombasa Streets, piloting a Banshee on Kizingo Boulevard, completing a mission without picking up a Covenant weapon, and even finding another hidden music cue and caveman Easter Egg. As for the smaller content update brought with this expansion that adds the Halo 2: Anniversary Remnant map to Multiplayer, there's a hidden BLAST soda can that must be found and destroyed. All in all, there's about two dozen miscellaneous achievements to nab, though none of them are particular difficult or time consuming.
Conclusion for Halo 3: ODST & ODST Title Update
Overall, as an expansive add-on the for Halo: The Master Chief Collection, the Remnent Multiplayer map and Halo 3: ODST Campaign add hours of joy to an already pleasant experience. With one hundred new achievements to grab, most of which will come naturally over one Legendary playthrough and one LASO playthrough, players can expect to sink about twenty-five or more hours into this add-on. If you're looking for the full completion, then as always, be prepared to tackle a tough task: Completing Halo 3: ODST on LASO.
Halo: Reach Title Update DLC
Introduction
We return once more, Spartans! Developer 343 Industries has finally added Halo: Reach to Halo: The Master Chief Collection. For those who are subscribed to Game Pass, the entirety of the game will be available to download for free; otherwise, the Multiplayer portion of the game is free to all and the Campaign will cost about $10 to purchase. With this expansion, there are one hundred achievements to be earned. Similar to the collection's previous lists, these achievements range from Campaign completion and hidden Easter Eggs to a variety of miscellaneous tasks and two online-only feats. You will likely spend more than 40-50 hours with Halo: Reach to see everything complete, so strap in and enjoy this final adventure.
Playthrough #1 (Legendary Playlist)
To begin, go ahead and start the Halo: Reach Legendary Campaign playlist. If you'd like to save an extra playthrough later on and stack "A Monument To All Your Sins" here, which tasks you with completing the game on solo Legendary, then make sure to play alone on this first playthrough. If you don't mind playing through the Campaign an extra time, then feel free to tackle this cooperatively. During this initial playthrough, you will naturally unlock nine story-related achievements for each mission, as well as four (or five if playing solo) achievements for stacking the Campaign completion on the highest difficulty setting.
It's worth taking the time during each of the nine missions to track down the hidden Data Pads. There are two of these collectibles on each main mission of the game; however, Lone Wolf, the post-game firefight mission, only has one. Thus, there are nineteen collectibles overall, all of which have their own achievement and then an overall achievement for finding all nineteen. Lastly, your time spent on each mission of this playthrough will likely be slow-paced, so ignore the par time and par scores entirely. Instead, focus on grabbing the various Easter Egg achievements and mission-specific achievements.
Playthrough #2 (LASO Playlist) + Additional Playlist
There are three separate achievements related to the Halo: Reach Campaign playlists. Fortunately, your first Legendary playthrough will net "Reach Has Been Good to Me" for completing a single playlist. The other two achievements are "Who Needs Red Flag?" and "Why Do This To Yourself?," which are earned for completing three playlists total and completing the Halo: Reach LASO Campaign playlist, respectively. When tackling the LASO playlist, please refer to the guide below for a video guide playlist on each of the Campaign's nine missions. Remember, it's always better to tackle such a playlist with a group of dedicated players rather than trying to do it on your own.
Par Scores, Par Times, & Legendary Speed Run
On your first playthrough of the Campaign, regardless of whether it was solo vs cooperative, you would have likely taken a decent amount of time on each mission to hunt down collectibles and Easter Eggs. Thus, you will likely have to replay each mission on Legendary in order to net good completion times toward the "Keep Your Foot on the Pedrogas" achievement, which tasks you with beating the Campaign on Legendary in under three hours. As you go back to missions to speedrun them, you should naturally earn all of the par time achievements, too. After unlocking your three-hour achievement, all you need to do at this point is mop up any par time and par score achievements on a lower difficulty via mission select.
Miscellaneous + Online
A number of the miscellaneous achievements in this game will be earned during one of your several playthroughs; however, for those that remain, you can use mission select to choose specific missions and hunt down what you may have missed. There are also a number of achievements that, while at first glance appear to only be obtainable online, can actually be done in Firefight or Custom Games on your own, such as killing 1,000 Skirmishers, killing ten enemies while jetpacking, splattering an enemy with a forklift, and assassinating ten enemy players. Lastly, make sure to play any mission or Multiplayer game of Halo: Reach on the 14th of any month in order to unlock "Remember Reach."
It's worth calling out that there are two online achievements: "Negative, Ghostrider" and "Skunked." The former will require you to earn a Skullamanjaro in a matchmade Headhunter game, while the latter tasks you with winning a matchmade game of Invasion in the first phase.
Conclusion for Halo: Reach
This is it, Spartans: the final adventure of The Master Chief Collection. If you've made it thus far, the achievement list for Halo: Reach should pose no burden; it follows the same structure as those that came before it, boasting several enjoyable (yet rightfully challenging) feats for the most dedicated of Halo players.
Overall Conclusion:
Overall, Halo: The Master Chief Collection offers an unmatched experience this year. With four complete games bundled for the price of one, players will be able to hop back and forth between their favorite experiences in both the campaign and multiplayer with ease. The achievement list here is nothing short of difficult; you’re going to have to sit down and dedicate a tremendous amount of time for each of the four games. Many of the overall achievements will come naturally as you play and you will already have noticed that many of the Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 4 achievements are similar to their original counterparts. With the exception of the new toy and terminal collectibles in Halo 2, par time and par score tasks for each game, and a few other new achievements, fans of the series should feel comfortable with the list and have no problem unlocking a vast majority of the achievements. With steadfast dedication and skill, Halo: The Master Chief Collection can be completed in as little as three months and a few hundred hours of playtime. It’ll take a number of playthroughs and multiplayer matches to do so, but the end result will be grand. With that, good luck, gamers. Have fun with this fantastic bundle and we’ll meet again this time next year for Halo 5: Guardians.
