Introduction:
Skull and Bones is here, after a protracted and much-delayed development time. The game started life as an offshoot of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, and it has slowly morphed into what it is now: a live-service pirate sailing adventure. There is a storyline here, but the game can only be played online. The game isn’t all that interesting, to be honest, but, in terms of an achievement list, what we have here is pretty varied and – on the whole – pretty easy to unlock, though there are one or two achievements that will keep you going for the long haul. Without further ado, let’s jump in!

Step 1 – Sail around the world:
This sounds like a strange first step, but it will help your progress through the game greatly, and it will also help you to unlock several achievements. It’s a good idea, when you first start Skull and Bones, to sail around far and wide. That way, you defog the map and open up loads of fast-travel points, making your progress through the game a lot faster and easier.

You don’t need to have a particular direction in mind, but you need to head west, to the Coast of Africa, and you need to head east to the East Indies. In doing this, you will add a lot of mileage to Magellan (70G), which tasks you with racking up 1,000,000 meters sailed. If, on your travels, you stop to harvest materials such as metals, fibers, and wood, then you can unlock Metal Collector (15G)Fiber Collector (15G), and Wood Collector (15G).

You can also go after targetted achievements such as Home of Compagnie Royale (15G)Coast of Africa Explorer (15G)Home of Clan of Fara (15G)Red Isle Explorer (15G)East Indies Explorer (15G). These all have you exploring the zones within regions, and also spyglassing or interacting with key locations. The Explorer (15G) has you activating a pirate bonfire at three different locations. This helps you sail more quickly anyway, so it's easily done during this phase. Also in that vein, Home of Sea People (15G)Home of Confederation of Ungwana (15G)Home of Dutch Merchant Company (15G) all have you seeking out and finding key locations.

Step 2 – Play through the main campaign:
Going through the main story will, of course, unlock you the story-related achievements, which are rewarded for basic progression. These include Banished Admiral (15G)Ship Captain (15G)Mainland Pirate (15G)Turtle Up! (15G), and Just Business (15G).

Also, while you are playing through the main story, you will be a lot quicker, because you have already unlocked all of that map, and now you can zip about the place a lot quicker using fast-travel. Though, you do have to pay for fast travel each time you use it, and depending on how far you want to go you need to pay more silver. In going through the main campaign, there are also a number of achievements that you will likely unlock in the course of your journey. The People's Person (15G) has you talking to 20 NPCs. The Poacher (30G) has you hunting down one hostile animal. And Battle Royale (15G) has you defeating five ships in the Open Seas region.

Step 3 – Endgame and multiplayer achievements:
The last phase is where you can mop up any achievements that you haven’t unlocked in the previous phases. At this point, you will have greatly contributed toward some of the more passive achievements, such as Magellan (70G), When We Raid, It Pours (30G), and Skull and Jute (15G)

You can also go after some of the more focussed multiplayer achievements, such as It's More Fun Together! (30G), Pirates, Assemble! (15G), and First Come, First Served (30G). Now, during this part of the game, you can choose to go after some of the more strange and niche achievements. Lots of these can be unlocked at any part of your playthrough, as they are quite easy and don't require high stats. Achievements such as Lunar Effect (15G)After a Long Day of Sailing (15G)The Silencer (30G)Why Fight When We Can Negotiate? (15G), and Rags to Riches (15G) all fit this kind of focussed achievement-hunting.

At this final point in the playthrough, you will also have unlocked But You Have Heard of Me (30G), as your infamy will be either at Cutthroat or Kingpin 1. While you’re in the endgame, you can stick it out to unlock Magellan (70G) and When We Raid, It Pours (30G). At this point, with all of the long-game achievements unlocks, and all your achievement-specific hunting out of the way, you’re looking at a fairly easy 1000gs.png.

Conclusion:
And there we have it. Not a particularly difficult list, with some variety, and some achievements that just require longevity. Skull and Bones is a dull exercise in checklist progression, spiced here and there with some impressive sailing.

There are 50 achievements with a total of 1000 points

  • Greet players with an "Ahoy!" from the quick-chat option in a server chat room.

In order to greet other players in the open world, you need to access the quick chat option in a server chat room. You do this by pressing and holding analog-left.png, pressing button-x.png and choosing 'Ahoy!' from the list.
  • Spyglass or interact with La Bastide.

La Bastide is one of the early areas that you come across in Skull and Bones; it’s right near Sainte-Anne, and it’s friendly, meaning you can sail to it without having to fight. In order to unlock this achievement, you only need to view it with your spy glass – by clicking analog-right.png and aiming it at the island. When you do, this achievemnt will pop. See the location of La Bastide below, due east of Sainte-Anne.

    skullandboneslabastide_8518cbeb-3523-41aa-98dd-c0e8c0724b1c.jpg
  • Complete 5 shared contracts.

You can unlock this achievement in one of two ways. First, as in Pirates, Assemble! (15G), you can invite a couple of other players into a group and you, as the group leader, can then take on a contract. (These are marcated out in the world and on your HUD, and they are given by NPCs, as aprt of the main story and the various side activities.) Second, you can accept an invititation to a group, pal around with some other players, and then take part in a contract initiated by the group leader. Both will count toward you unlocking this achievement.
  • Group up with two other players during gameplay.

This achievement is easy to unlock. You need to find another player in your game world – easily done, as they are the NPCs that have the Gamertags above their heads. Then you will see onscreen an icon that says “invite to group.” Press button-y.png and you will send an invite; if they accept then you’re good to go. Now you need to invite a second person, and this achievement will unlock.

  • Spyglass or interact with Ankohonana.

Ankohonana lies west of Sainte-Anne, where you start out your adventure. Head west and you will encounter a large land mass, called the Angaya Coast. There is a cluster of lands here worthy of your exploration, and there is also a narrow inlet, which leads you snaking through the landscape on a river, toward Ankohonana.

    general---skull-and-bones_2024-02-28_14-29-05_c56ca229-8603-4d67-a86f-1cd7e735a23b.jpg
Follow the river round, and you will encounter a number of settlements, shipwrecks, all sorts. Right in the middle of the landscape is Ankohonana, which is classed as a capital settlement. Whip out your spyglass (analog-right.png) and train it on Ankohonana, and this achievement will unlock.
  • Activate a pirate's bonfire on 3 outposts.

This achievement is very straightfoward to unlock. First, you need to find an outpost. These are scattered across the world, and they grant you fast-travel points to unlock, too, so it’s well worth sailing around and uncovering as many as you can. They look like this on the map:

    general---skull-and-bones_2024-02-29_12-32-58_8093ae91-8128-4cc0-be14-b6c250b5c96b.jpg

When you alight at one of these outposts, you will find a pirate bonfire; they are usually located at the far end of the outpost, at the back and often up high. Approach the bonfire, and press button-y.png to throw some powder and ignite the bonfire. Do this on three different outposts, and this achievement will unlock.
  • Spyglass or interact with Tenina Town.

Tenina Town lies on the Tenina Coast, which is is south-west of Sainte-Anne, where you start your adventure. Sail south, and you will come across a big old island all the way down, and you will find Tenina Town nestled between an island and a larger land mass to the west. Train your spyglass (analog-right.png) on it or pull right up and interact with it, and this achievement will unlock.

  • Harvest wood in 3 regions.

First things, first, check out or guide on Where to find and harvest Acacia trees in Skull and Bones. This will give you an insight into the little mini-game for chopping and harvesting. Now you need to get sailing and exploring. Check out our guide on How to increase your ship speed in Skull and Bones, as it will make exploring the world that much faster and easier. Whenever you encounter different resources out in the wild, these are marked on your map. Press button-page.png and check which resources you have found:

Careful not to confuse wood, which is the tree symbol, with crops, which is the symbol that looks a bit like broccoli. I did that and was confused as to why this achievement didn’t pop. Once you have harvested trees in three different regions, this achievement will unlock.
  • Hunt down at least 1 of each hostile wildlife (spear only).

This one isn't too tricky, just track the animals you’ve hunted, because it can be tricky remembering which you need. Or, you can just become a killing machine and hunt every animal you see. Regardless, you can check your map at any time (button-page.png) and see which animals you’ve encountered.

The way you hunt them down is by using your small ship. Switch to this by docking and interacting with your ship (button-y.png), then scrolling down to the “change ship” option. The small ship allows you to chuck spears at your quarry, by holding lt.png and pulling rt.png.

    general---skull-and-bones_2024-03-01_12-13-10_fea6b80d-7fe8-4ec2-9e8e-bb9f4d35df28.jpg

Starting at Sainte-Anne, you can get the following animals in these locations:

    (1) Hammerhead Shark – These are all around the coasts of Sainte-Anne.
    (2) Great White Shark – Loads of coasts, but especially around the Open Seas.
    (3) Nile Crocodile – In the rivers of Rova Hill, immediately to the west of Sainte-Anne.
    (4) Hippopotamus – To the south off the coast of Learnt Men’s Hill, on the the Tenina Coast.
    (5) Bull Hippo – These are around Pembe, on the Coast of Africe, to the north-weste.
    (6) Madcap Crocodile – To the left of the Tamby Foundry, which lies west of Sainte-Anne, near Rova Hill.
    (7) Saltwater Crocodile – North of the north of Telok Penjarah Den, in the East Indies, in an inland cove.
  • Talk to 20 interactable NPCs.

This is an easy achievement to unlock, and you probably won’t need to hunt this one down, because you will likely unlock it passively, as you go through the main adventure. Whenever you see an NPC – be they a merchant of some kind, a mission-giver, or whatever – just walk up to them and press  button-y.png to interact with them. Once you have done this with twenty different NPCs, this achievement will unlock.
  • Explore all zones in the East Indies.

This achievement isn’t too difficult to unlock. It’s a good idea to go for a nice long sail early on in Skull and Bones. That way, you defog lots of the map and unlock a number of fast-travel spots to make zipping about all the easier. (Check out our guide on How to increase your ship speed in Skull and Bones to make this process a bit quicker and more fun.)

In terms of the East Indies specifically, there are 28 locations in the East Indies that you need to check off, and you can do this by opening the map (button-page.png) and hovering over the East Indies part. You will see sketched outlines of each zone as you hover over them.

  • Defeat 5 ships without leaving Open Seas region.

The Open Seas region is the chunk of water right in the middle of the map, between the East Indies and the African Cost:

    general---skull-and-bones_2024-03-04_12-58-55_166f278d-b509-4c9b-8967-e6fbe2deab25.jpg

What you need to do, to unlock this trophy, is to sink 5 ships in this region without leaving. That isn’t really very difficult, partly because the area is huge, giving you lots of space to retreat and plan your next move, and to hunt around for your next target. It's a good idea to try and unlock this achievement after you have had a chance to upgrade your ship a little for combat. Check out our guide on How to equip your ship with armour. It’s also a good idea to have enough wood and / or repair kits on you to make your combat durability that much better – as there is nowhere to stop and rest while going after this one. Once you have sunk five ships, this achievement will unlock.
  • Explore all zones in the Red Isle.

As with East Indies Explorer (15G), you will need make sure that you are adept at sailing. The Red Isle region features 14 zones for you to uncover. All you need to do is sail into each of these zones in order to register them as being discovered. The zones are as follows:

    1. Port l’Hermine
    2. Île-Royale
    3. Tenina Coast
    4. Southwest Passage
    5. Learnt Men’s Hill
    6. Noisy Be
    7. Reef Sea
    8. River-Mouths
    9. Rova Hill
    10. Islands of the Moon
    11. Angaya Coast
    12. The Giant’s Leap
    13. Sainte-Anne
    14. Bloody Channel
  • Explore all zones in the Coast of Africa.

As with East Indies Explorer (15G), and also Red Isle Explorer (15G), you will need make sure that you are adept at sailing. The Coast of Africa has 10 zones for you to uncover. In order to make sure you have all zones, you need to sail into each of these zones in order to register them as being discovered, and you will see the a message flash up onscreen saying that you have discovered it. Once you have discovered all 10 zones, this achievement will unlock. The zones in Coast of Africa are as follows:

    1. Jiwe
    2. Western Basin
    3. Pembe
    4. Lake Bwawa
    5. Ziwa Kubwa
    6. Harufu
    7. Lake Buri
    8. Sultani Island
    9. Pilot Bay
    10. Rondavels
  • Meet Admiral Rahma.

    Story-related and unmissable.

You will unlock this achievement as part of the main story, as part of “The Horizon Beckons” mission. This will take you to Telok Penjarah Den, where your objective is to “Meet the leader of the Unbound.” You need to follow the objective marker and make your way to the Rhama’s Residence. When you do, a cutscene will trigger, wherein you will meet Admiral Rahma, and this achievement will unlock.
  • Destroy flare weak point to interrupt a ship from firing flares.

When you’re in a battle against a ship, and your opponent’s health is running low, they will sometimes use flares to signal for backup. As this happens, you will hear an audio cue from your crew that flares are about to go up. At that point, you need to aim your cannon (lt.png) at the glowing weak spot, which is in the middle of the enemy ship, and fire on it (rt.png). If you destroy the weak point, then this achievement will unlock.
  • Hide from attackers in a safe zone.

This is a pretty easy achievement to unlock. You can unlock it pretty early, too, when you make it to Sainte-Anne. As you sail out from the dock, you will notice a white-grey band that encircles the island; this is what signifies it as a safe zone, meaning combat can't be carried out inside. It looks like this:

    general---skull-and-bones_2024-03-04_11-47-29_7a9fbdf5-00a2-4606-b3b8-436d0b81b12c.jpg

If you sail out from Sainte-Anne and fire on another ship, pulling them into a fight with you, then all you need to do is quickly about-turn and high tail it back into the safe zone. When you do, this achievement will unlock.
  • Sink an enemy ship while having 5% hp or lower.

This is one of these achievements that you may well accidentally unlock by virtue of just being in a closely fought battle. On the other hand, if you haven’t unlocked it, then you can sneakily get it done by firing on an enemy ship until its health is very low, then delaying the finishing blow and letting that ship chip away at your health until you are at 5% HP. Then, when you sink them, this achievement will unlock. This achievement is more easily unlocked against the computer than it is against another player, who will be better.
  • Explore all zones in the Open Seas.

As with East Indies Explorer (15G), you will need make sure that you are adept at sailing. The Open Seas region features 6 zones for you to uncover. All you need to do is sail into each of these zones in order to register them as being discovered. The zones are as follows:

    1. Baixio Grande
    2. L'Escale
    3. Eastern Basin
    4. Central Basin
    5. Souther Basin
    6. Batavia Reefs
  • Cook 15 dishes.

Cooking in Skull and Bones involves finding a pot, and pressing the button says cook. There are, however, a couple of wrinkles therein. First, you need some ingredients, but these can be bought from all sorts of places – and also from other players even. If you’re in Sainte-Anne, then I recommend going to the Hawker, Mako Lacy, who will sell you various wares, including food ingredients useful in cooking.

    skullandbonescook3_8923727f-a3e3-44f7-8fca-694d5a608e07.jpg
Nearby, you will see a cooking pot icon on your HUD; follow that, and you will find the pot and can then press button-y.png to beging cooking. You will see the available dishes in there, based on your available ingredients and also your acquired recipies. (These can also be bought and found from various vendors) Hover over your chosen recipe, hold button-a.png, and you will cook that dish. Once you have cooked 15 dishes, this achievement will unlock.
  • Deal 3000 damage to towers using a spear.

This is an easy achievement to unlock, and you can nab it early on. When you’re at Sainte-Anne, use the game’s starting ship, the really small one – which is equipped with spears – sail to the west of Sainte-Anne and you will find a lone guard tower on a tiny island:

    general---skull-and-bones_2024-03-04_17-32-11_35b92695-e179-4d50-b41c-da5760ce907f.jpg

Head there, and pull up close to the tower. Then hold lt.png and take aim, and then rt.png to fire. Each spear does around 300-350 damage, so after ten or so throws this achievement will unlock.
  • Defeat an enemy and leave the zone without looting.

This achievement is another easy one to unlock, and you can relish unlocking it with a certain swagger. All you need to do, is locate a Compagnie ship (you could also attack another player, but the A.I. enemies will likely be easier than human opponents) and get into a fight. You use canons and whatever means you wish to battle them, but then, rather than boarding them or looting the jetsam in the waves, simply sail on. Once you leave the designated combat zone, this achievement will unlock.
  • Finish an enemy with a crew boarding.

This one is classic pirate stuff. When you’re in a battle with an enemy, whittle their ship’s health down, and, when their health is low enough and they start to retreat, you need to sail up near them. when you are within range, you will get a prompt flashing up onscreen: “ button-y.png Crew Boarding.” Press button-y.png and your crew will board the enemy ship and finish them off. This achievement will then unlock.
  • Show your gratitude to any NPC after talking to them.

After you have spoken to any of the game’s NPCs (see The People’s Person (15G)), press button-x.png to bring up your radial emote menu. On here select the “Thank” emote at the bottom, and press rt.png. You will then thank the NPC, and this achievement will unlock.
  • Successfully plunder a location in stormy weather.

This one is easy enough, but it does require something out of your control: the weather! The best way to unlock this achievement is to wait for a storm to break out, as you are sailing and exploring the world, and then get plundering. Sail up alongside a settlement or outpust, and you will see an icon pop up saying “ button-y.png Plunder.”

Press this and your crew will get to plundering that location (thieving its goods and resources, basically). In the mean time, you need to fend off reinforcements as your crew is busy plundering. Once you have completed the plunder, as the storm rages on, this achievement will unlock.
  • Hitman

    30

    Sink a Privateer.

Privateers are beefy and imposing enemy ships, which spawn periodically and look quite scary, indeed. They will attack you on sight, and they are often lurking near outposts, waiting to attack. Use your spyglass (click analog-right.png) and hold your crosshair over the enemy ship, and you will see a label pop up, marking it as a Privateer vessel. You will also see what you can gain by sinking said vessel – though the fight will be tough. (Make sure that you have armoured your ship and have upgraded your weapons.)

Once you have sunk the Privateer ship, this achievement will unlock.
  • Crest a rogue wave.

Rogue waves are freaky. They pop up when you’re sailing in the midst of a storm, and you will see an onscreen indicator that reads, “ button-y.png Look at Rogue Wave.” Once you have it in your sights, and you can see it swelling and rising before you, you want to sail toward it at top speed. Hold button-a.png to fully extend and trim your sails, and gun straight for the wave at a good 12 or 13 knots. You will surf it straight to the top and smash through the breaking foam. This achievement will then unlock.
  • Harvest metal in 3 regions.

As you explore the world, you will come across all sorts of natural resources that you can harvest. (Check out our guide on how to harvest Acacia trees, for a good start on this.) You will come across metals, such as iron, zinc, and steel all over the map.

As a quick point of reference, when you’re starting out at Sainte-Anne, you are in the Red Isle region. Sail immediately west and you will find Bog Iron on the coast of The Giant’s Leap. When you are near the metal, an indicator will flash up, reading, “ button-y.png Harvest Bog Iron.” The mini-game here is very similar to the one for cutting trees; it’s a matter of pressing rt.png as the needle hits the green zone.

Keep going further west, and you will enter the Coast of Africa region. Here, you will find Cobalt in the Ziwa Kubwa zone, if you follow the river inland. Plus, you will also find Nickel to the north, if you sail inland from Pembe.

Finally, if you sail east, you will – funnily enough – reach the East Indies. Here you will find Zinc on many of the coasts of almost all of the islands. Once you harvest these three metals, or any other metals you have come across, in three separate regions, this achievement will unlock.
  • Dance to a song performed by musicians in Sainte-Anne.

This achievement is easy to unlock, and can be popped very early on. You need to reach Sainte-Anne, which is one of the first things that you do in the story. Once you do, you will find the musicians performing in the street at a specific location:

    collectibles---atlas-fallen_2024-02-26_19-12-03_5191f6aa-fa7b-4ffb-bcf5-ec881cc4e2e7.jpg
Once you are there, you will see the musicians and be able to dance. You do this by pressing button-x.png and then selecting the dance emote in the radial menu and pressing rt.png. Then this achievement will unlock. If you don’t see that emote, then press button-y.png in the radial menu and you will be able to edit your emotes. You will have dance unlocked from the get go, so just equip it to one of the slots and then get jigging away.
  • Reach "Cutthroat" tier.

Infamy tiers in Skull and Bones are basically a measure of how much of a big bastard pirate you are – how many people have heard of you, respect you, fear you. You will progress through these ranks by doing all sorts of stuff – sinking enemy ships, taking on and completing contracts, discovering new areas of the map, and so forth. There are ten Infamy tiers, which are as follows:

    1. Outcast
    2. Scoundrel
    3. Rover
    4. Freebooter
    5. Buccaneer
    6. Brigand
    7. Marauder
    8. Corsair
    9. Cutthroat
    10. Kingpin 1

One of the big earners of Infamy are the World Events, which appearn periodically; you have a certain window of time in which to take part in these, and you are alerted to them when they become available. This achievement is best unlocked in a passive way, mind. As you make your way through the list and complete more and more activities in Skull and Bones, you will naturall climb the Infamy ranks. Cutthroat tier, being the penultimate one, will be achieved late on in the game. When you hit this tier, the achievement will unlock.
  • Discover a smuggler's hideout.

You will naturally unlock this achievement as you follow the game’s story. In the mission Taking the Helm, which you can accept from one of the various message boards. To keep track of your current contracts – both main and side missions – press button-page.png and look at the map, and then press button-x.png to access your journal. This will tabulate all of your current contracts, and you can press dpad-left.png and dpad-right.png to navigate through them.

Taking the Helm is a mission that has you specifically making your way into a smuggler's hideout, in order to continue Yanita’s initiation. Once you do, this achievement will then unlock.
  • Successfully capture your first Manufactory.

This achievement is best unlocked in the endgame for Skull and Bones, so once you’ve reached the Kingpin 1 Infamy rank (see But You Have Heard of Me (30G)). When you have done that, there are a couple of ways that you can capture a Manufactory. One, you can take part in and complete a Legendary Heist; these pop up every half hour, and they are PvE events that have you destroying the target ship in a convoy and delivering its loot to a destintion.

Two, you can complete a Hostile Takeover. These are PvP endgame events, and they pop up along with the Legendary Heists. You have to stay inside a target area while battling AI ships and other players – sort of King of the Hill. These are slightly trickier, as they are PvP, and other players may well whoop you – and only the winner of the Hostile Takeover actually takes over the Manufactory. That being said, you could take part in a Hostile Takeover and find that no one other players join. In which case, after doing bugger all for a few minutes, you win!

In either case, you have captured the Manufactory, this acheivement will unlock.
  • Spyglass or interact with Suny.

Suny lies right at the northeast corner of the map, in the East Indies region and within the Suny Outskirts zone. It's a good idea to sail around early on in Skull and Bones, in order to get a good idea of the world, and to defog your map, making exploration and story progress that much breeezier. Suny is a capital settlement, and it lies inland, meaning you will have to snake your way in through the Delta of Me, to the south, or the Delta of Sain, to the North. One you have interacted with Suny, or just tagged it with your spyglass (analog-right.png), this achievement will unlock.

  • Loot a total of 50000 silver of item value from enemy ships.

This achievement, much like Magellan (70G), is one of those that you ought to put on the backburner and worry about later, as you reach the endgame of Skull and Bones. Looting can be achieved by sinking enemy ships in battle, or by boarding and plundering them. In both cases, you will see an onscreen prompt, and you can press button-y.png to loot goods. You don’t need to have looted silver from your enemies; you just need 50,000 of silver value. The actual items and goods looted can be anything. Once you have reached 50,000, this achievement will unlock.
  • Wear an outfit worth more than 5000 silver.

In Sainte-Anne, get yourself to the Vanity Atelier, which is the place pretty much slap bang in the middle of town. The Vanity Atelier will sell you all manner of fancy threads. Be warned, of course, you will need to make sure that you have 5,000 silver, in order to buy a suitably fancy outfit.

Once you are there, you will need to talk to Florentine d¹Alesso and click on the “Purchase & Equip Items” option. In this menu, you will be able to assemble the outfit you need.

    general-skullandbones_2024-03-06_12-18-33_9b4d5870-9981-45f8-b7a4-f225879523fe.jpg

Make sure that the outfit you are wearing is worth 5,000 silver or over, and this achievement will unlock.
  • Trade items with at least 3 players.

In order to trade with another player, you need to walk up to another player on land. Other human players are clearly identifiable by the Gamertags above their heads. When you are near to one of these players, follow the onscreen prompt and hold button-y.png to interact with them. You will have a number of options here, and you want to scroll down and send a request to that player. If they accept, then you will be able to trade with them. Do this with three different players, and this achievement will unlock.
  • Harvest 10000 pieces of jute in total.

Jute is a plant-like fibre, and you can find it in Sainte-Anne. In order to harvest jute, you will need to sail up alongside it – as is also the case with things such as wood, metals, and other resources – and press button-y.png. This will trigger the harvesting mini-game, wherein you have to press rt.png as the onscreen needle flicks into the green or yellow zones (green gets you more goods). Once you have harvested 10000 pieces of jute, this achievement will unlock.

  • Reach Sainte-Anne.

    Story-related and unmissable.

You will unlock this achievement early on, as part of the main quest. The mission is entitled “Appointment With Power,” and it sees you alighting at Sainte-Anne, a kind of pirate paradise. A cutscene will trigger, in which you step off your ship and walk down the docks, and a cluster of fellow-pirates will take the piss out of you. Once the cutscene is over, this achievement will unlock.
  • Build your first ship.

    Story-related and unmissable.

You will unlock this achievement early on, as part of the main quest. When you alight at Sainte-Anne, you will be asked to speak with the shipwright. When you speak to him, he will offer to build a ship for you, provided you have the requisite supplies. (These supplies involve finding and harvesting Acacia trees; check out our guide on how to do that.)

    general---skull-and-bones_2024-02-27_12-17-36_8334fdc4-e6f6-442c-8850-1286a541a530.jpg

Once you have the materials you need, speak to the shipwright, and select the option to build your ship, then press and hold button-a.png, et voilà! Once you have built your ship, this achievement will then unlock.
  • Equip your ship with armor.

    Story-related and unmissable.

You can unlock this achievement early on, as part of the main quest. Once you have spoken to the Blacksmith in Sainte-Anne, you will have the option to purchase armour from him. All you need to do to unlock this achievement, is go into into the ship management menu and equip the armour. When you do, this achievement will unlock.

Check out our Skull and Bones How to equip ship armor guide.
  • Scan an object from a long distance (1400m+).

In order to scan an object from 1400m+, you need to upgrade your spyglass. The Spyglass III is the one that you want; it lets you scan objects up to 1500m+, so that’s more than enough. In order to get the Spyglass III, you need to speak to the carpenter at Sainte-Anne.

    general---skull-and-bones_2024-02-27_15-22-10_e9ef1618-dc67-4397-b150-8f53abdef06f.jpg
As you can see, at that point in the game, I didn’t have the materials or the Infamy rank necessary. You need to reach Marauder I rank in order to be able to craft the Spyglass III. If you want to raise your Infamy rank, then you need to complete contracts, discover new locations and treasure, and also compete in world events – you need to play Skull and Bones, basically. Once you have the Marauder I rank, talk to the carpenter and craft the Spyglass III. Now all you need to do is set sail, press analog-right.png to bring up your Syglass, and train it on a distant object. Once you do, providing the object is at 1400m+ range, this achievement will then unlock.
  • Sell all your brandy.

This achievement is a breeze – in fact, it’s actually more difficult acquiring brandy than it is selling of the brandy that you have. You need to procure brandy other ships, by either plundering them, or destroying them and looting their cargo from their shipwreck. Or else you can find brandy in random shipwrecks. Either way, there is an element of chance to this. Once you have some, you need ot approach another player or a merchant NPC, and you need to sell all of your brandy. You can’t have any brandy left in your warehouse or in your ship’s inventory. All of it must be gone, and this achievement will then unlock.
  • Hit enemy ships with a spear 100 times.

Use the game’s starting ship, the really small one – which is equipped with spears – sail toward an enemy ship and hold lt.png to aim and rt.png to throw a spear at the enemy ship. You need to be careful when doing this, as you are, obviously, very outmatched in a fight with a bigger ship that is properly equipped with firepower. You probably won't be sinking many ships with this bold strategy. You may die a couple times, but try and make sure to get as many hits in as you can. After three or four tries, you will get 100 spear throws in, and this trophy will unlock.
  • Spyglass or interact with Oosten Capital.

Oosten Capital is in the East Indies Region, in the Ring of Fire zone, on the Naga Coast. In order to unlock this achievement, you need to interact with Oosten Capital or just press rt.png and tag it with your spyglass.

  • Derby

    30

In total, deal 30000 of Collision (ram) damage to other ships.

This achievement has the distinction of being one of the more fun achievements to unlock. Ramming is good stuff. It’s brute force, it disregards your own safety, and it does good damage to other ships. All you need to do is sail at top speed into another vessel – preferably, right into their flank. It’s especially satisfying to do this toward the end of a battle, when your opponent is weakened, so that your ram downs them. In any event, keep ramming as a valued tactic in your arsenal, and you should unlock this achievement very easily. It will take a while, but it isn't actually difficult to get.
  • Spyglass or interact with Jiwe.

Jiwe is in the Coast of Africa region, to the west of Sainte-Anne, in the Jiwe Zone.  In order to unlock this achievement, you need to interact with Oosten Capital or just press rt.png and tag it with your spyglass.

  • Harvest fiber in 3 regions.

Harvesting fibre is easily done. When you find some, a prompt will pop up, asking you to press button-y.png if you wish to harvest. The mini-game here is very similar to the one for cutting trees; it’s a matter of pressing rt.png as the needle hits the green zone. You need to sail near the coasts, and check your map (button-page.png), and you will see various symbols pop up, indicating things you can harvest. In terms of fiber, you have a number of options:

    1. Jute – Red Isle
    2. Hemp – Coast of Africa
    3. Sisal – Coast of Africa
    4. Linen – Coast of Africa
    5. Ramie – East Indies
    6. Roselle – Indian Ocean
    7. Abaka – East Indies

You only need Jute, Hemp, and Ramie (other combinations will work, so long as you harvest one per region) to unlock this achievement.
  • Sail 1000000 meters.

This achievement is one of those best suited to the long game. First things first, check out our guide on How to increase your ship speed in Skull and Bones, as this will help you generally. It will make your time spent uncovering the map and landmarks a lot quicker, and will make your general progress through the game a lot more breezy, too.

Focus on this achievement last, as you will passively be adding to your total meters-travelled count as you play Skull and Bones – any time you’re on the sea you’re adding to that total. It’s a good idea, when you first start Skull and Bones, to sail around far and wide. That way, you defog the map and open up loads of fast-travel points, making your progress through the game a lot faster and easier. Eventually, you will hit the 1,000,000 meters mark, and this achievement will unlock.

Secret achievements

  • Stare at the full moon for ten seconds while on land.

This is an easy one. You need to disembark your ship and stand on an island somewhere – anywhere will do, but you need to be able to see the moon, so don’t do this in the day time, obviously. Tilt the camera upwards at the moon and also have your character facing the moon. Your view of the moon needs to be unobstructed, and you need to hold this position for ten seconds, at which point this achievement will unlock.
  • Meet John Scurlock.

    Story-related and unmissable.

You will unlock this achievement early on, as part of the main quest. The mission is entitled “Appointment With Power,” and it sees you alighting at Sainte-Anne, a kind of pirate paradise, in search of a man named John Scurlock. Follow your objective marker and an on-screen prompt will pop up, saying, “Meet John Scurlock.” Press button-y.png to meet him, and this achievement will unlock.
