Introduction:

12 years and a remaster later, in 2024 we finally got a proper Dragon’s Dogma sequel. Dragon’s Dogma 2 is very much a case of “more of the same and then some,” meaning fans of the series (and even newbies) will feel right at home in the follow-up to the popular cult title that sold over 7 million copies.

In it, you take control of the Arisen, who finds themself working as a slave in the depths of the Agamen Volcanic Island with a bad case of amnesia. It’s up to you to travel from Vermund and into Battahl, to get to the root of the memory loss and to the bottom of the ever-growing conspiracy and corruption that plagues the lands.

Capcom’s third-person action-RPG is the perfect adventure simulator, and while it might have its quirks and foibles, it’s still an incredibly enjoyable game, worthy of your time and attention.

Walkthrough:

In terms of achievements, Dragon’s Dogma 2’s list isn’t actually all too bad, but thanks to a lot of missable achievements, it can be very unforgiving. So, the best bit of advice we can give is to use the save system to your advantage. i.e. using inn saves as your hard back-up saves at key points, in case you mess things up; and then use the traditional save so you don’t lose progress as you adventure throughout the lands.

In all, though, you’re looking at around 100-120 hours for the platinum. Thankfully, you only need one playthrough, and if you do mess things up, you can always use New Game Plus to tidy up any loose ends. However, if you stick to the below, you’ll be golden.

There are some key points (below) that you should be aware of going into the game.

Important Story Notes:

  • Firstly, remember where you pick up your first Seeker’s Token. You’ll need it for one of the Sphinx’s riddles.
  • Don’t use the Sealing Phial from the Sphinx challenge room.
  • There are only 2 Unmaking Arrows and you need both for two different achievements: one to kill the Gigantus in the story; and the other to kill the Sphinx. Do not use them for anything else.
  • Familiarise yourself with the names of the 5 rare spellbooks (see our Spellbound guide), and do not use them.
  • There are two major points of no return for different aspects of the game: “Feast of Deception” and “A New Godsway.” Be wary of these points, as they lock out different aspects of the game i.e. “Feast of Deception,” once finishing it can lock you out of a number of side quests; and “A New Godsway” locks you into the end game once you return to Ambrosius after dropping off the Wyrmslife Crystals, meaning quests like Phantom Oxcart will no longer be available.

Step 1 - Play the Story Until the Point of No Return

Right, first things first, you’re free to pretty much play Dragon’s Dogma 2 as you wish, for the most part, so long as you pay attention to the more missable aspects below, which we’ll run you through. As we hinted at above, the two massive deviating quests that will lock out other quests are:

  • “Feast of Deception” - This’ll be the last main Vernworth quest before you head to Battahl.
  • “A New Godsway” - After giving the Wyrmslife Crystals to Ambrosius, when you return to him you’ll be locked into the endgame.

Story achievements

Easily missable achievements

  • Cyclops Abridged (15G) - Crossed a cyclopean bridge (the Cyclops have funky respawns in Vermund, where it's best to try this achievement, so try to get this on your first time through).
  • Nobles' Night Out (10G) - Attended a palace masquerade in formal raiment. (do before Feast of Deception).
  • Myrmecoleon Delights (10G) - Entered the rose chateau (you need to get the pass to grant entry to it)
  • Master of the Maisters (90G) - Acquired every maister’s teaching (the Readvent of Calamity quest can get locked out after the Feast of Deception quest).
  • Are We There Yet? (10G) - Boarded the phantom oxcart (do before A New Godsway).
  • Full Marks (90G) - Found a solution to every conundrum posed by the goddess of riddles (fail these and you fail your attempt at this achievement and the Reaper’s Scorn one).
  • Reaper's Scorn (30G) - Accomplished a miracle for several people all at once (you need to kill the Sphinx to get the item for this achievement).

Whatever you do, do not go past returning to Ambrosius in “A New Godsway,” as we have a lot to be getting on with first.

Step 2 - Work on those Misc. Achievements

The below are achievements that a.) you’ll have been unlocking naturally as you work through Step 1; b.) are achievements that you can work on before you actually enter the endgame. The only really advice we would give here, is that when you enter Battahl and spent enough time exploring there, don’t forget to head through Draubnir’s Grotto, to get access to the rest of the vocations and Maister teachings in the Agamen Volcanic Island region (as well as heading to the hot spring for the achievement).

Vocation achievements

Pawn achievements

Combat achievements

Exploration achievements

Step 3 - Finish the Game for the First Time

And then finally, once you’re ready to lock yourself into the endgame, you’ll want to head to Ambrosius and finish off the “A New Godsway” main quest - and start the “The Guardian Gigantus” main quest.

Straight off the bat you’ll go for the Gigantus achievement (below), and then you’ll be a straight shot to the end and the find boss. What you essentially want to do is:

  • Change your class to the Archer class.
  • Head back to Ambrosius after a few days to finish the “A New Godsway” quest.
  • Start “The Guardian Gigantus” quest by heading to the Flamebearer Palace Spellseal Door.
  • Then, when it opens, run as fast as you can to the mission marker and shoot Gigantus with the Unmaking Arrow (Gigantus, I Hardly Knew Ye (15G)) while its still in the water (so it drops its weapon).
  • From there work your way through to the first ending and sit on the throne during the credits (Peace (10G)).

The next step is to choose “Load Last Save,” and then enter the proper endgame.

Step 4 - Venture into the Proper Endgame

The endgame of Dragon’s Dogma 2 might sound daunting, but honestly, it’s not too bad. Aside from the hardest boss (who was fairly easy at level 60) and making sure you don’t get ahead of yourself in terms of order, you should breeze through it - especially if you stick to our guides below.

Basically, it should go like this though:

It sounds like a headache, but it’s as easy as that. Obviously, you’re going to want to follow the guides for each achievement for advice in general, but especially for The Guardian (30G) achievement, as it’s possible to bork your run, meaning you’ll have to start your Unmoored World run all over again. This happened to us, although it was massively our fault.

Anyway! That’s it! If you have other achievements you didn’t get, fear not, just boot up New Game Plus and you can start at the same player level (both your Arisen and main Pawn’s levels) from the beginning with all your items in storage (even the Portcrystals you left scattered about the previous game world) with a fully unfogged map. Meaning you can mop up any missing achievements in no time whatsoever. Once you have whatever achievements you’re missing, the platinum is all yours. Congrats!

Conclusion

In all, Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a fairly easy platinum. It will take a good amount of time, a lot of planning, and a little bit of luck, but it’s a pretty damn fun game. And while it might sound daunting with all the unmissable achievements, believe me, it’s not. It’s a doddle… as long as you pay attention to our guides, of course.

Good luck out there, Arisen!

There are 55 achievements with a total of 1000 points

  • Earned all other Dragon's Dogma 2 achievements.

You guessed it, collect all the other 54 achievements and you get this final achievement (which is basically a platinum), worth a whopping 150G.
  • Escaped the bonds of slavery.

    Story-related, cannot miss.

Complete the prologue quest, “Gaoled Awakening,” and when you crash down into the open-world this achievement will unlock - moments after encountering the soldiers who offer assistance.

  • Arisen

    10

Regained your memories of receiving the Arisen's charge.

    Story-related, cannot miss.

After completing the “Tale’s Beginning” main quest, as part of the “In Dragon’s Wake” main quest you’ll have to head to Melve. When in Melve, near the water well in town, a flashback will trigger and this achievement will unlock a short way in.

  • Arrived in Vernworth.

    Story-related cannot miss.

As part of the “Seat of the Sovran” main quest, you’ll have to make your way with Gregor and co. to the capital city, Vernworth. Now, if, like us, you get sidetracked with Gregor, and he perishes on the way to the city, and you can’t get across the bridge as you don’t have the “proper documents” - presumably because Gregor has them - fear not, ignore the soldier and cross the bridge anyway. This will transport you into a room inside Vernworth and continue the story.

And doing so, will unlock this achievement.

  • Passed through the gate at the border.

    Story-related, can technically miss.

After you’ve spent a serious amount of time in Vernworth, doing a ton of main missions (see below), you’ll have to finish the act off by completing the ‘Feast of Deception’ main quest. For completing that, you’ll not only get a Portcrystal to place anywhere, but you’ll also get a Border Entry Permit to get you through the Battahl fortress gate at the south of the Checkpoint Rest Town. The only issue is the permit is for a person of Beastren origin. So, in order to get through, head to Ibrahim’s Scrap Store and buy a Beastren Mask.

Then, whack it on, go to the gate, and pass through without so much of an issue - and also unlock the ‘Across the Border’ achievement.

In case you were wondering, the main Vernworth quests, both optional and required, and their rewards are as follows:

    • Monster Culling (Expeditioner’s Cloak)
    • Disa’s Plot (Wakestone & 6,000G)
    • The Arisen’s Shadow (Expires if not completed before Feast of Deception) (4,000G)
    • The Caged Magistrate (Ferrystone & 7,000G) (you’ll lose the Gaol skeleton key though)
    • An Unsettling Encounter (Ring of Accural & 5,500G)
    • The Nameless Village - (Dragon’s Gaze & 7,500G)
    • The Stolen Throne - (Wakestone Shard & 6,5000G)
    • Feast of Deception (Portcrystal)

Whether you can get this outside of this quest remains to be seen, but considering you can get the I'm In (15G) achievement on whatever attempt through the checkpoint, you’d assume this one would work as well.

And the reason we marked this as potentially missable is, you can actually get into Battahl via the river that runs west of the Checkpoint Rest Town.

  • Peace

    10

    Became Sovran of Vernworth.

    Story-related, can maybe miss.

Once you’ve dropped the Wyrmslife Crystals to Phaesus for the “A New Godsway” quest, you’ll be asked to return a few days later. When you do, that’s it: it’s endgame time.

The endgame consists of two quests, and as soon as you start, you’re locked in. Those two quests are: “The Guardian Gigantus” and “Legacy.”

Before you do all that, though, make sure you have an Unmaking Arrow available to use (8 WLC from The Dragonforged), as that way you can kill two birds with one… arrow.

So, in order to unlock the standard ending of Dragon’s Dogma 2, you’ll need to do the following across the aforementioned two main quests:

    • Go to the previously locked gate (the Flamebearer Palace Spellseal Door) and use the sword to open it.
    • Run to the shore and shoot the Gigantus with the Unmaking Arrow for Gigantus, I Hardly Knew Ye (15G) achievement.
    • Follow Phaesus to the Moonglint Tower.
    • Defeat Raghnall.
    • Defeat the false Sovren and his warriors.
    • Attack the dragon.
    • Fly on the dragon.
    • Kill the dragon.
    • Sit on the throne and let the credits roll.

Now, we’ve marked it as “maybe” missable, because honestly, this game can be a little weird at times and things can turn out differently… So, we have no idea what happens if you choose not to fight the dragon, or if you decide to not even sit on the throne… it’s just not worth the risk, though, so perhaps don’t do either of them.

  • Experienced the end of the cycle.

    **Missable**

The ‘Closure’ achievement is “missable” in the same way that not getting to the Unmoored World is (see Dragon's Dogma 2 (10G)). Once you’re there though, and you’ve defeated all 4 red beam sites (Vernworth, Sacred Arbor, Volcanic Island Camp and Bakbattahl - the same 4 for the The Hero (30G) achievement), you can now head to the Seafloor Shrine and interact with the 5th red beam of light.

Doing so will lock you into the end of the cycle ending - AKA the true ending. After a few cutscenes, you’ll find yourself on the back of a ginormous dragon. Just move up the back, avoiding the corruption spikes; and then when you’re on the wing, use the seam bones to hide behind while he spits fire at you. Then, when you’ve done all that, keep moving towards his heart, and eventually the final cutscene will kick in.

And that’s it, folks. The ‘Closure’ achievement is the last story achievement, and hopefully the end of your experience with the Unmoored World - well, without the pressure of getting achievements, of course.

  • Changed your vocation.

At any point in Dragon’s Dogma 2 you can change your main character’s vocation - your vocation is effectively your class i.e. Fighter, Archer, Mage, Thief, etc.

All you need to do to change your class is a.) Have enough DCP; and b.) Head to any Vocation Guild and speak to the guild master. Then, choose Vocation Guild > Change Vocation > and then select a different vocation to the one you started out with. Once you do, the ‘Versatile’ achievement is all yours.

  • Changed your vocation to mystic spearhand.

The Mystic Spearhand vocation can’t be unlocked until you reach Battahl. In order to unlock it, you’re going to need to seek out Sigurd.

Luckily enough, the game will throw you straight into Sigurd’s path, if you follow the quest objectives in the main quest, “A New Godsway.” Those quest markers will take you to Dragonsbreath Tower in the far southwest corner of Battahl. There, by the camp, at the base of the tower, you’ll find Sigurd.

Speak to him and he’ll give you the Mystic Spearhand vocation - and remember to catch up with after in Havre Village to get his Maister’s teaching for the Master of the Maisters (90G) achievement too.

And remember, the ‘Duo Destinies’ achievement won’t pop until you visit a guild and actually buy and equip the vocation.

  • Changed your vocation to trickster.

The Trickster vocation is the earliest specialist vocation you can get your hands on after the standard 6, and can be obtained not long into your first trip into Battahl.

In order to get your hands on the Trickster vocation, make your way south from the Checkpoint Rest Town - after crossing through the fortress gate - and follow the path down until you reach the Enoa’Battahl Forest (in the northwest corner of the region). From there, head directly east until you hit the Reverent Shrine.

Inside the Reverent Shrine is Luz. Speak to her, and she’ll give you access to the Trickster vocation. Don’t worry too much about going straight there, though, as you’ll go there for the “Flickering Shadows” main quest anyway, which is one of the earlier Battahl main quests.

Again, you need to visit a Vocation Guild to buy and equip it for the ‘Trickster of the Trade’ achievement to unlock.

As an aside, while you’re at the Reverent Shrine, head up onto the roof with the ladder around the side, and go to the front of the building where Luz’s actual physical form will be, For finding her you’ll get the Theurgist’s Rite tome, which grants you the Dragon’s Delusion ability - needed for the Master of the Maisters (90G) achievement.
  • Changed your vocation to magick archer.

Along with the Warfarer vocation (Jack of All Trades, Master of...All Trades (10G)), the Magick Archer class will be one of the last vocations you unlock.

In order to unlock it, you need to first head through Drabnir’s Grotto (in the southwest of Battahl), which will grant you access to Agamen Volcanic Island. To get to the road to Drabnir’s Grotto, simply take the ropecart from Battahl Ropeway Station One at Bakbattahl to the Central Station, and then head to Bathall Ropeway Station Four to the south. This will put you on the southwest road to Drabnir’s Grotto and the Agamen Volcanic Island.

When you get out of Drabnir’s Grotto, you’ll come across Gautstafr in the middle of the road. Speak to him, assist him, and then guide him home. When there, Gautstafr and Cliodhna will discuss you escorting him to the Geyser Hamlet in the Volcanic Island Camp - this sequence forms the side quest, “Put a Spring in Thy Step.”

When you get to the end, and escort him to the hot spring, Cliodhna will come out of the shadows and give you the Magick Archer vocation, as well as Spellbow’s Paradox (which grants the Martyr’s Bolt special ability), which you need for the Master of the Maisters (90G) achievement.

Once you’ve unlocked the Magick Archer class, head to the Worker’s Dormitory inn, which can be found back near the entrance to the camp, and you can buy and equip this vocation for the ‘Arrows and Incantations’ achievement.

  • Changed your vocation to warfarer.

    **Technically Missable**

Probably the best vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is the Warfarer class, as it basically allows you to mix and match other vocation abilities, armours and weapons. It’s a best of both worlds vocation, if ever there was one.

The good news is, it’s relatively simple to unlock - and also super close to where you had to drop off Gautstafr in the “Put a Spring in Thy Step” side quest, that you did to unlock the Magick Archer (Arrows and Incantations (10G)).

That, of course, is the Geyser Hamlet in the Volcanic Island Camp. There you will find Lamond, who will infer he wants some Newt Liqueur. 3 bottles, in fact. This will form the side quest, “The Sotted Sage.”

Now, in order to get Newt Liqueur, you need to head to the Higgs’s Tavern Stand in northeast Bakbattahl with a Beastren Mask. When equipped, move the stack of sacks outside the shop and put them in the nearby pen. Doing so will get access to a special vendor, who will sell you 3 Newt Liqueur for 5,000 gold per bottle. Now, the reason we’ve flagged this as technically missable, because if you drink the Newt Liqueur, we’ve not found enough in the open-world to finish “The Sotted Sage.”

Anyway! When you’ve got 3, return to Lamond, give him the Newt Liqueur, and you’ll get your Warfarer class (and the Rearmament ability, that comes from the Grandmaster’s Path tome, if you speak to him again).

And of course, you’ll need to actually unlock it from a Vocation Guild and equip it for the ‘Jack of All Trades, Master of…All Trades’ achievement to unlock.

For a more in-depth guide on how to get the Newt Liqueur, check out our guide:

  • Went camping.

When you’re trekking through the wilderness in Dragon’s Dogma 2, you’ll come across pre-set areas where you and your band of troops can rest - allowing you to cook, rest until morning, and also refill your Loss Gauge.

In order to be able to do this and camp, you’re going to need a Camping Kit of some sort. Once you have one, you can interact with the fire embers Campsites to set up camp, and when you do, the ‘An In-Tents Adventure’ achievement is all yours.

In terms of easy Campsites, there’s one directly west of the Borderwatch Camp at the beginning, and there’s one northeast of Melve, when you’re on your way to the capital - both of which have Camping Kits nearby.

  • Purchased a dwelling of your own.

If you head to the street to the southeast of The Stardrop Inn while you’re in Vernworth, you’ll bump into Mildred, who asks you to house sit her property for a week in a side quest called, “A Place Called Home.”

This is great, because you can use this place to rest without incurring a cost like you would every time you stay at Shakir’s Inn to regenerate your Loss Gauge (which is sustained damage over time, reducing your maximum health).

However, after a week, Mildred will return and give you a proposition: 20,000 gold and the house is yours permanently. Turns out, Mildred found somewhere else she wants to live. So, when presented with this offer, give Mildred 20,000 gold and not only is the house all yours (which is worth it in the long-run), but you’ll also unlock the ‘A House? In This Economy?’ achievement. So, definitely a win-win situation.

If you somehow miss this chance, and you have 200,000 gold, there’s also a place to buy in Vernworth’s Noble Quarter too.

  • Boarded an oxcart.

Oxcarts in Dragon’s Dogma 2 are one of the game’s fast-travel systems. While in other games fast-travel is usually instant, in Dragon’s Dogma 2, Capcom have clearly gone for something a little more immersive.

In order to unlock this achievement, simply board the oxcart (after paying 100 Gold to go to Melve) when you reach Vernworth, the capital city, and the ‘One Speed Only’ achievement is all yours.

As a side note, we’d advise picking up the “Oxcart Courier” side mission from Donovan near the North Vernworth Oxcart Station. That way you can kill two birds with one stone and get a achievement, and also do one of the game's side quests.

  • Used a Wakestone to restore the dead to life.

Wakestones in Dragon’s Dogma 2 are red rocks that can be used to resurrect characters/Pawns, should they die in combat. Wakestones can come in two forms: Firstly, a fully formed Wakestone, which can be found in chests or given as quest rewards; or Wakestone Fragments, which when you’ve collected 3, they then form a Wakestone. All you need to do then when you have one, is approach a dead NPC/pawn, and use the Wakestone to restore the dead to life.

I managed to unlock this on the way to the capital in the ‘Seat of the Sovran’ main quest, by venturing off the beaten path into the Waterfall Cave. In the depths of that cave, there are a ton of high-level enemies that you, your Pawns, and Gregor and his knights will wade into and fight. We lost one of Gregor’s men here, and resurrected him with a Wakestone. When we did, ‘The Saviour’ achievement unlocked.

Don’t worry though, lots of people will die throughout your playthrough - even main story characters - so there’ll be tens of opportunities to do this one.

  • Used a Ferrystone.

Ferrystones in Dragon’s Dogma 2 are one of the game’s forms of fast-travel. These blue gems can be activated at any time to take you back to one of the game’s Portcrystals - provided you’ve unlocked said Portcrystal by interacting with it.

These gems are rare, expensive, but incredibly valuable. That can be bought from Merchants like Philbert’s Sundries, or found in chests. In terms of Portcrystals, you have two types:, 1. Static ones, like the one in Vernworth; and 2. Portable ones, that you can place anywhere.

Once you have a Ferrystone and have unlocked a Portcrystal, simply use the Ferrystone in the open-world, choose where to spawn, and the ‘Just a Stone’s Throw Away’ achievement is all yours.

  • Acquired a pawn badge.

Pawn badges in Dragon's Dogma 2 are effectively in-game badges that your main Pawn can earn - showing other players how experienced they are, when they try to hire them.

There are 2 types of Pawn badges:

    • Kill a certain amount of this enemy i.e. kill 30 Cyclops, 30 Ogres, 10 Medusas, 20 Garms, 20 Drakes, and so on.
    • Camping badges, for camping in a region 50 times.

You can check the status of how you're doing for each badge, if you go to the pause menu and then go to Status > tab across to your main Pawn. There, on the right, you can see how close you are to unlocking a Pawn badge.

So, to get the ‘A Badge of Honor’ achievement, just fulfil the criteria for one of the badges and it'll unlock, along with the achievement.

  • Defeated the gigantus in a short span of time.

    **Gigantus-ly Missable**

First things first, in order to get this achievement you’re going to need to purchase Dragon’s Dogma 2’s most powerful weapon: the Unmaking Arrow. This arrow is a one-hit kill for any enemy in the game. However, there are only 2 of these available per run, and as I said in the intro, you need one for this achievement.

In order to purchase the Unmaking Arrow, you need to make your way to The Dragonforged, a mysterious being located deep into Battahl territory. He can be found at the Bay Wayside Shrine, which is across the shores to the northeast of Bakbattahl. Don't worry, you need to go to him for one of the main quests, anyway.

The Unmaking Arrow costs 8 WLC (Wyrmslife Crystals, which are received by killing dragons), so whenever you have the currency and some time, head to him and buy it, and save it for the “The Guardian Gigantus” main quest.

Then, after dropping the Wyrmslife Crystals to Ambrosius for the “A New Godsway” main quest, and before returning a few days later, switch your class to the Archer class.

Now, as part of The Guardian Gigantus quest, you’ll make your way to the Flamebearer Palace Spellseal Door in the southeast of Bakbattahl. Once you open that door, you’ll make your way down a large path along the coast, and after a short while a cutscene will kick-off, introducing the Gigantus to you.

When the cutscene ends, sprint as fast as you can down the path and follow the path onto the bridge, down the stairs to the left about halfway, and then follow that path to the end, and towards the mission marker. When you’re there, equip the Unmaking Arrow, and then use Steady Shot to hit the Gigantus before it reaches the shore. If you hit, and he drops his spear into the ocean, you’re good.

All you need to do now is wait until the Gigantus reaches the Volcanic Island Camp, where it’ll die before it reaches the encampment, which is when the ‘Gigantus, I Hardly Knew Ye’ achievement unlocks - this will take a good 5-minutes, by the way.

In those 5-minutes, you’re free to do whatever you want, whether that’s watch the Gigantus or head straight to the Moonglint Tower. The choice is yours.

  • Found a solution to every conundrum posed by the goddess of riddles.

    **Easily Missable**

Hidden to the far northwest of Vermund (to the north of the Checkpoint Rest Town) is the goddess of riddles, the Sphinx.

The Sphinx can first be found in the Mountain Shrine, which can be accessed via a cave out the back of the Ancient Battleground. If you head to the top of the large fortress and through a hole in the wall, you'll find yourself in the Worldsend Cave.

Head through the Worldsend Cave to the end, and then head through the Ancient Ruins and into the Shrine Corridor. At the end of the Shrine Corridor is the Mountain Shrine, where you'll find the Sphinx.

There, the Sphinx will pose 5 riddles, which you must pass and not fail - failure essentially locks you out of the chests at the back of the cave and nukes your progress, leaving this achievement unobtainable in this playthrough, so it's wise to drop a Portcrystal and have a backup inn save prepared before you attempt any riddles.

Once you answer the first 5 riddles, she'll fly off to a new location, which can be found if you follow the river west of the Checkpoint Rest Town to the Frontier Shrine.

Just finding that will complete the next riddle, and leave you 4 more to complete. Upon completion of the 10th and final riddle, the Sphinx will attempt to leave. However, you need to attack the Sphinx to start a fight, allowing you to kill her with the Unmaking Arrow (which is one of the riddle rewards) - you'll get an Unmaking Arrow as a riddle reward, and without it, you won't be able to kill the Sphinx in time before she gets bored and leaves.

Now, defeating the Sphinx is important because doing this will net you the incredibly valuable, Eternal Wakestone, which you need for the Reaper's Scorn (30G) achievement.

The answer to all 10 riddles, including tips and maps can be found at our massively in-depth Sphinx riddle solutions guide:

Once you've successfully completed all 10 riddles, the ‘Full Marks’ achievement will unlock.

  • Decapitated a medusa.

See Getting a Head (30G) achievement.

Or, for all 3 Medusa achievements, check out our guide below too:

  • Acquired every maister's teaching.

    **Very Missable**

In Dragon's Dogma 2 there are 10 vocations, AKA classes, ranging from the traditional Mage and Warrior classes, to the more offbeat Warfarer and Mystic Spearhand classes. And for those 10 classes, there are 12 “Maister teachings,” which come in the form of tomes, and contain the game's most powerful special moves for each class.

Now, learning all 12 teachings on its own will not only require you to unlock all 10 vocations (you can't read the tomes unless you know the vocations), but it'll require careful planning too. That is why we've marked it down as “very missable.”

That's because some of the Maister’s teachings are locked into timed side quests (although we found a way around that) and others require the same items to complete multiple different people’s side quests (see Spellbound and the Sorcerer's Appraisal). Heck, some can be locked out if you get unlucky too, like Sigurd dying in the lesser dragon fight at the top of Dragonsbreath Tower, and despite resurrecting him, he might not want to get to know you or accept any gifts so you can’t raise your affinity with him. So, just be careful with this one.

Fear not, though, we've prepared a detailed guide to assist with most eventualities and how and where to find all 12 Maister teachings.

So, for a list of all 12 Maister abilities and when (and how) to unlock them, check out our supplementary guide to point you in the right direction:

  • Reached the maximum rank in a vocation.

In order to unlock ‘The Specialist’ achievement in Dragon’s Dogma 2, you need to level up one of your vocations (i.e. your class) all the way up to the maximum rank, which is rank 9.

That’s not your overall level rank, this is specifically related to your vocational rank, and the two aren’t evenly paced either. For instance, when I unlocked this achievement, my overall player level rank was level 25.

You’ll get this naturally as you play the game, provided you’re not chopping and changing vocations. But to be honest, even if you are, you’ll probably max out a few ranks long before the end of the game - we had 4 ranks up to max by the time we reached the endgame.

  • Taught your pawn a specialization.

Specializations in Dragon’s Dogma 2 are special passive abilities, of sorts, that you can assign to your main Pawn that will prove fruitful while out and about adventuring. They usually come in scroll form, and are awarded for assisting/helping other NPCs in the world.

By far the easiest to get is the “Chirurgeon’s Tome” and the “Chirurgeon” specialization. To get this, simply complete the Medicament Predicament side quest in Melve by assisting Flora (who’s near to the Runne’s Apothecary) by getting her some Fruit Roborant.

Then, when you’ve done that quest, speak to Flora’s grandfather, Auriol, who can be found in the marketplace on his stall, in the Merchant Quarter in Vernworth. After hearing of your generosity in assisting his granddaughter, he will give you the Chirurgeon's Tome.

Then, all you need to do is go into your inventory, find the Chirurgeon's Tome, and then use it. This will apply the Chirurgeon specialization to your main Pawn, and the ‘A Pawn of Many Talents’ achievement will unlock.

If you want a different specialization, for instance, try maxing out Amanda’s affinity - she works in the northeast corner of Vernworth market, on a stall. Doing so will net you the “Logistician’s Tome.”

  • Set a pawn quest.

In order to set a Pawn quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2, you need to head to one of the Grand Stone versions of the Riftstones, which are usually found in large cities - there is one in Vernworth (the Grand Riftstone of Vermund) and one in Bakbattahl (the Grand Riftstone of Battahl).

When there, interact with the Riftstone to enter the rift, then Examine the stone. From there, go down to “Set a Pawn Quest.” Then you will have to set two things:

    • Request for Other Player
    • Reward for Other Player

Once you’ve set both, and confirmed it, the ‘Wish Upon a Rift’ achievement will unlock.

  • Entered the rose chateau.

    **Maybe Missable**

During the main mission, “An Unsettling Encounter,” when you’re trying to flee the palace grounds in Vernworth, after rooting around in Allard’s chambers, if you jump out the window, Wilhelmina will come to your assistance. Wilhelmina being the proprietor of the Rose Chateau Bordelrie - a high-end brothel.

When you part company with Wilhelmina, she’ll give you the Myrmecoleon Card, which grants you access to the Rose Chateau Bordelrie. You’ll find the Rose Chateau Bordelrie in the southwest corner of Vernworth, in the Noble Quarter.

To unlock the ‘Myrmecoleon Delights’ achievement, all you need to do is go there and head inside. Now, the reason we marked this as potentially missable, is we're not sure what happens if you don't jump out the window. So just make sure you do that to trigger the encounter with Wilhelmina.

  • Collected 80 Seeker's Tokens.

Seeker’s Tokens in Dragon's Dogma 2 are not only the game’s solitary collectible, per se, but they also double up as currency that will net you rewards for milestones. Once you've found enough Seeker’s Tokens, you can exchange them for special items and gear at any Vocation Guild.

These coins are fairly large in nature and not too hard to find, especially if you pay attention to any exclamation marks that appear on the mini-map. Exclamation marks usually either signify nearby points of interest like ladders, broken oxcarts, ballistas, boulders and the like, but they could also indicate a Seeker's Token is nearby too. So, whenever you see one, always check out what it might be.

If you're actively searching for them, our best bit of advice is to search for them at night, as they'll emit a soft glow of light around them, making them infinitely easier to see from a distance.

For the location of enough Seeker's Tokens to net you 'The Collector' achievement, check out our guide below:

  • Earned the affections of 50 people.

The common misconception with this achievement is that you have to max out the affinity of 50 people to get ‘The Philanthropist’ achievement. But speaking from experience, as someone who got it when according to my Adventurer's Log I had only maxed out 16 people, I can say that's definitely not the case.

So, before we talk my strat, let's talk about the easiest way to max out someone's affinity, and that's with 2 Wyrmslife Crystals, that you get from killing dragons. That said, it should be noted that you can’t spam gifts to an individual, as only the first gift in a 24-hour period will affect the affinity (meaning you need to advance time 24-hours after giving the first gift to be able to raise an NPC’s affinity again).

Now, let's talk about how I got it, and how you can too, although you will need a good chunk of gold for this strategy (for assistance on how to farm gold quickly in Dragon's Dogma 2, check out our guide through the link).

What we actually did in testing was in Bakbattahl. And our strategy was this:

    • Rest at the Pilgrims’ Inn until night
    • Go next door to the pub, The Wanderer’s Haven, and buy a round of drinks. Then go to the other pub near the western entrance to Bakbattahl (The Rockmouse’s Burrow) and do the same.
    • Then, head back to the Pilgrims’ Inn to rest until night.

This process will cost you 6,000 gold (2k per round and 2k to rest) - although potentially you can rest 4 times on a bench to advance the timer 24 hours too (although we decided to stay at an inn instead as we were flushed with gold). Then, repeat this process between 5-6 times (30,000 to 36,000 gold).

Now, in our testing of whether this worked or not, we actually stopped here. However, after we raised the affinity to max of around 10-12 people, this achievement unlocked, meaning we clearly didn't do the pub strategy in enough locations for it to register.

So, our takeaway from this is that we needed to do it in more pubs. One more at least, perhaps two. So, if you do the same in Vernworth with The Stardrop Inn and Walter's Tavern, you're pretty much guaranteed to get it (plus, doing it in Vernworth will save you 2k as well, because hopefully you own the house and can rest at your home instead).

If you stick to that strategy though, you should unlock ‘The Philanthropist’ achievement in no time whatsoever.

  • Raised a person's affinity to the maximum.

Most people you encounter in Dragon’s Dogma 2 have an affinity level i.e. how much they like you. You can raise a person’s affinity by doing quests for them or by giving them gifts they like. As for unlocking this achievement, I actually unlocked it unwittingly, by doing a series of optional side quests, and then an open-world escort mission - not a gift in sight. So, then, how did we do it so easily?

Well, outside of Roderick’s Smithy in Vernworth you’ll find an elf called Glyndwr, who will ask for a “human-made bow” - which starts the side quest, “Gift of the Bow.” After giving him the bow, and returning later, his next quest becomes available, “A Trial of Archery,” where you need to head to Sacred Arbor in the north-northwest of Vermund, and then descend into the Ancestral Chamber nearby to save his sister.

Now, I know what you’re thinking… we’re talking about this because we maxed out our relationship with Glyndwr. Actually, no. What happened after that quest was that we returned to Sacred Arbor, and then an escort quest popped up for us, for Taliesin, the dad of Glyndwr.

Now, Taliesin was already over the moon when we saved his sister (not enough to max out his affinity, mind), but apparently escorting him to the Mountain Ruins (south of Sacred Arbor) was enough to max out his affinity and unlock the achievement.

If you’re looking to build someone’s affinity with gifts, rather than this method: hit the pause menu, go to History > NPC Logbook, and then scroll down to find the character you’re trying to max out. Under their name it will tell you their likes. For instance, Wilhelmina, from Vernworth’s Rose Chateau Bordelrie, likes “beautiful items” and “adorable items.” So, get gifts that fit that description, talk to her, and then hit the button-a.png button to give them a gift.

Whether you’ve raised the affinity to the maximum via quests or gifts, or a combination of the two, as soon as they reach maximum affinity, the ‘Affinity and Beyond’ achievement will unlock. Just bear in mind, that you can only get the affinity rewards from a gift, once every 24 hours (and the easiest way to max someone out with gifts, is with 2 Wyrmslife Crystals).

You can keep a track of how many (if any) NPCs you have at max affinity if you go to the pause menu, go to History > Adventure Logbook > NPCs > and you can find it under “NPCs with Max Affinity.

  • Strengthened a weapon in wyrmfire.

Nestled deep in a cave to the northeast of Bakbattahl, at a place called the Bay Wayside Shrine, you'll find a mysterious gentleman who goes by the name of The Dragonforged - you'll come across him not too long after reaching Bakbattahl as part of the game’s main quests, so don’t worry about seeking him out outside of that.

While The Dragonforged is a great source of information, he's also a vendor who can upgrade weapons and armour, in exchange for Wyrmslife Crystals, which are dropped by dragons of all varieties, from lesser dragons to drakes.

In order to strengthen a weapon with Wyrmslife Crystals and get the most out of it, you first need to fully upgrade it to level 3 at a regular blacksmith or armourer. Then, depending on the capabilities of the weapon, head to The Dragonforged and spend 5-15 WLC on upgrading the weapon to its max level.

Once you do, the ‘Dragon Forged’ achievement is all yours.

  • Soaked in the hot spring.

You'll find the only hot spring in the game, AKA the Geyser Hamlet, at the Volcanic Island Camp in the Agamen Volcanic Island region.

To get there ahead of time, you'll need to head through Drabnir’s Grotto (see the Hope You Brought a Lantern (10G) achievement) and once you reach the other side of the dungeon, on the main path into the Agamen Volcanic Island, you'll meet up with Gautstafr who will start you on the quest “Put a Spring in Thy Step.”

Luckily, this will put you within spitting distance of the aforementioned Geyser Hamlet. After the quest has concluded, speak to Cortago at the front desk and pay 100 gold, which will give you access to the hot spring.

As soon as you're inside, soak in the hot spring using the button-b.png button, and the ‘This Cure What Ails Ye’ achievement will unlock.

  • Crossed a cyclopean bridge.

    **Kind of Missable**

Now, the reason I put this in the missable category is for one simple fact: the Cyclops spawns are as unpredictable as anything in the game, in my opinion.

In order to unlock the ‘Cyclops Abridged’ achievement, you basically need to tempt a Cyclops into following you over a small gap, so much so that he stumbles, falls, and then grabs onto the other side, thus creating a bridge with its body.

Now, this is perhaps one of the more unpredictable achievements in Dragon’s Dogma 2, because of the aforementioned Cyclops spawns and the randomness of it all - mainly because we killed the multiple Cyclops the first time around, and they wouldn't respawn when we returned to the area, no matter what we did.

Before I talk strats, I'd honestly create an inn save before you try these, just so you don't have to wait until New Game Plus.

But the general strategy is: a.) don't have any Pawns with you except your main; b.) unequip the weapon from your main Pawn (so that they don't disrupt the flow and “destroy” the bridge before you can cross it); and c.) depending on which of the 3 spots you choose below, you need to destroy the bridge in advance and get the Cyclops to chase you towards the gap, and then jump across the gap - hopefully baiting it to follow you.

That should cause the Cyclops to follow you, run to the edge and lose balance, causing it to fall across the gap, making a makeshift bridge. Once you've walked across the Cyclops’ back, the ‘Cyclops Abridged’ achievement will unlock.

The 3 best locations in the first (southeastern Vermund) area to do this are:

    • East of the Riverside Ruins, in between the Indigent Bedlands dungeon and the Frightful Hollow is a bridge and a Cyclops nearby.
    • East of Vernworth on the way to the Nameless Village - between the Underbridge Grotto, Spirits Path, and Twilight Cave - is another bridge, and yet another Cyclops.
    • Finally, there is a broken stonebridge south of the Riverside Ruins, on the land where the two rivers meet.

The latter one is perhaps the best, as it's a broken bridge, as opposed to the ones you need to destroy the bridge yourself. If you fail and have the backup inn save like we mentioned, however, you should be all good to try this multiple times.

Good luck, as this is the most random of all the Dragon's Dogma 2 achievements.

  • Summoned a harpy, grabbed hold, and took flight.

The key to the ‘Harpy Joyride’ achievement is quite simply to get your hands on a “Harpysnare Smoke Beacon” - which can be bought from a lot of roving traders (and can also be found in random chests). If you’re struggling to get your hands on one, you can definitely find one at the top of an old stone tower on the road to Drabnir's Grotto, in the far southwest of Battahl (before crossing the bridge).

Then, once you have one, you need to use it in an area with no harpies around - that's because using it in an area with harpies around will not fulfil the “summon” part of the achievement, and just attract nearby harpies.

Once you have a Harypsnare Smoke Beacon, and have used it, harpies will swarm around it, at which point you want to grab onto one with the grab button (you might have to jump).

Once you've successfully done that, the ‘Harpy Joyride’ achievement will unlock.

  • Revived two pawns simultaneously.

For the ‘Quit Playing Dead’ achievement you’re going to need a bit of luck and judgement, namely because you need 2 Pawns to go down near one another. Once they do, if you revive one downed Pawn, it’ll revive the other one nearby too, as the revive option is DD2 has an AOE property attached to it.

We found the best place to do this was east-northeast of Vernworth (the capital city you make your way to in the main campaign), near the western river bank (in between 2 bridges). There you’ll find a place called “Spirit’s Path” - which is down a ladder just off from the main road.

At the end of the path, you’ll find a chest with a Wakestone in it. Once you’ve opened the chest, you’ll be ambushed by a load of powerful undead. Here I lost two Pawns rather quickly, and another one entirely, and I had to retreat and take them all out one by one. Once I had, I went back and the two Pawns with me were collapsed in a heap on the floor within a few feet of one another. When I got one up, the other resurrected as well.

And if all else fails, when you have two Pawns down in different areas, carry one over to the other one and revive one to get them both up. Your call.

  • Obtained Dragon's Dogma.

    **Missable**

The ‘Dragon’s Dogma’ achievement is incredibly straightforward, but also very missable at the same time, as it relates to buying a weapon while in the game’s true ending world state, AKA the Unmoored World.

The “Dragon's Dogma” that the achievement refers to, is actually a sword that you can purchase from The Dragonforged, when you reach the Unmoored World and speak to him at the Seafloor Shrine. The sword in question is worth a whopping 111 Wyrmslife Crystals - which is a fair amount!

That said, as we suggested in the Road Map, you won’t head to the Seafloor Shrine in the Unmoored World until after you’ve passed all the trials and beat all the bosses (see The Hero (30G) achievement). Doing that first will leave you with hundreds of Wyrmslife Crystals, meaning you should easily be able to afford the sword.

Once you’ve bought the Dragon’s Dogma sword from The Dragonforged, the aptly named ‘Dragon’s Dogma’ achievement will unlock.

  • Petrified a medusa.

See Getting a Head (30G) achievement.

Or for all 3 Medusa achievements, check out our guide below too:

  • Acquired a preserved medusa head.

There are 3 Medusa achievements in Dragon's Dogma 2 to unlock. This one, the Off with Its Head! (15G) achievement and the An Eye for an Eye (30G) achievement, all of which are inherently linked because you need to decapitate Medusa, get a Preserved Medusa Head, and then use it on a Medusa, all of which come hand-in-hand with one another.

So, first things first, Medusa's only spawn can be found in the far southwest of Battahl, at a place called the Caliginous Depths (on the way to the Dragonsbreath Tower).

Now, to get this efficiently you need to:

    • Switch to the Thief class.
    • Have a couple of Ferrystones and a Portcrystal.
    • Have a Mage with the Lightning Affinity ability in your party.
    • And if possible, have the Ring of Momentum, to increase your stamina.

Now, the strategy is relatively simple. Head into the cave, and head straight for Medusa (avoiding her petrification gaze), and then climb up to her head and then spam the light attack button - making sure you land critical attacks.

Sure, she'll fling you off every so often, and when she does, just climb back up and start smashing her in the face again.

After a while, if all goes according to plan, you should insta-kill the Medusa and her Preserved Medusa Head will fly off (that's achievement number 1). Picking it up is achievement number 2.

And then, finally, to set you up for the third achievement, An Eye for an Eye (30G), you'll want to drop a Portcrystal outside the entrance, and use a Ferrystone to get back to any town as quickly as possible. When there, put the Preserved Medusa Head into storage (this is so that it doesn't decay).

Then, after waiting a week (or doing something else for a week), grab the Preserved Medusa Head and use the second Ferrystone to head back to the Caliginous Depths’ Portcrystal. Then, when inside, hit pause, go to ‘Items,’ and equip the Preserved Medusa Head.

Now, this won't equip it in the weapon slot, but in the lantern slot instead. So, to use, hold the lb.png button and press dpad-right.png on the d-pad to brandish it, and then finally,  shine the head at Medusa herself. After 10-20 seconds or so, Medusa will turn to stone and the third and final Medusa achievement will unlock.

If you're looking for more assistance on Dragon's Dogma 2’s Medusa achievements, check out our in-depth guide here:

  • Grilled every type of meat during the night and day.

In Dragon's Dogma 2, there are 2 different types of meat that have 4 different states, meaning that there are 8 different types of meat in all.

Those two different types of meat are: Scrag of Beast and Beast-Steak. Each of those has 3 different main states: normal, Aged (24 hours old) and Rotten (72+ hours old). On top of that, combining 2 Aged versions of each meat will create a specific dried snack: 2 x Aged Scrag of Beast makes Dried Meat, and 2 x Aged-Beast Steak makes Exquisite Dried Meat.

So, in all, that’s 8 different meats you can use when you rest at Campsites, of which you need 2 of each (for night and day). They are as follows:

    1. Scrag of Beast (day)
    2. Aged Scrag of Beast (day)
    3. Rotten Scrag of Beast (day)
    4. Scrag of Beast (night)
    5. Aged Scrag of Beast (night)
    6. Rotten Scrag of Beast (night)
    7. Beast-Steak (day)
    8. Aged Beast-Steak (day)
    9. Rotten Beast-Steak (day)
    10. Beast-Steak (night)
    11. Aged Beast-Steak (night)
    12. Rotten Beast-Steak (night)
    13. Dried Meat (day)
    14. Exquisite Dried Meat (day)
    15. Dried Meat (night)
    16. Exquisite Dried Meat (night)

Once you've camped and eaten all 8 of the meats in both the day and the night time, the ‘The Barbecue-Maister’ will unlock.

  • Attended a palace masquerade in formal raiment.

    **Pretty Missable**

The ‘Nobles’ Night Out’ achievement refers to one of the main missions while you are in Vernworth, namely “The Stolen Throne” quest, where you have to attend a masquerade ball at the palace.

In order to unlock this achievement, you need to find and equip the Courtly Tunic and the Courtly Breeches - as well, as we assume, as the Eventide Mask. The Eventide Mask you’ll get from Brant for starting the main quest - who you can find at the Shakir’s Inn - while the Courtly Tunic can be bought for extortionate money from Philbert’s Sundries in the town square (305,000 gold for both items). The truth is, however, the best way to get them for free, is to complete “The Ornate Box” side quest.

You’ll get The Ornate Box side quest from Sven in the market square in Vernworth during the day. Sven will be near Auriol’s market stall and will ask to borrow 1,000 gold. Once you give it to him, return to the fountain 2 days later and he'll be there. Upon visiting him the first time you’ll get 200 gold. On the second visit after a few more days you’ll get 300 gold. And on the last visit you’ll get 500 gold and both the Courtly Breeches and Courtly Tunic.

Once you’ve done that, equip them and head to the palace at night to start “The Stolen Throne” main quest. As soon as you enter the small ballroom of sorts on the west side of the Vernworth Castle region, the ‘Nobles’ Night Out’ achievement will unlock.

If you're struggling with the quest, check out our “The Stolen Throne” guide and we'll steer you in the right direction.
  • Restored the dead to life at a morgue or charnel house.

The ‘Thought I'd Lost You’ achievement is perhaps one of the more straightforward achievements in the game, and all you'll need to unlock it is 5,000 gold, a dead NPC and a Wakestone.

Now, you don't need to actually kill an NPC yourself, they just need to have died somewhere in the region (whether out and about, via a monster attack or something else entirely). Then, after around 24-hours, they'll appear at the charnel house or morgue in the region, where you can head to resurrect them.

Then you just need to head there, pay 5,000 gold to the guy at the front desk, and then head down to the coffin with the lit candle next to it and finally use the Wakestone on the coffin.

When you do, the previously dead NPC will miraculously come back to life and the ‘Thought I'd Lost You’ achievement is all yours.

  • Accomplished a miracle for several people all at once.

    **Deathly Missable**

In order to get the ‘Reaper’s Scorn’ achievement, you need to have defeated the Sphinx and received the Eternal Wakestone as a reward, thus making this achievement incredibly missable.

An easy way to get this, without aggroing the whole town, is to head to the Checkpoint Rest Town, and grab a couple of NPCs from near the well, and head north to the bridge and throw them over the bridge into the riverbed below.

Then, when there are a couple of them down there, head down and use the Eternal Wakestone to bring them all back to life. Doing that will unlock the ‘Reaper's Scorn' achievement. Congrats, you miracle worker, you!

See the Full Marks (90G) achievement and the below guide for more assistance on how to complete the Sphinx riddles for “A Game of Wits” and how to beat the Sphinx:

  • Defeated the headless horseman.

The Headless Horseman in Dragon's Dogma 2 is a random rare spawn boss that will appear at night. Not only will it drop Cursed Dullahan Bones when you defeat it, but you’ll also unlock the ‘Before Dawn Breaks’ achievement too.

Now, the hard part here is actually finding one to come across. In fact, it took more than 50-hours for us to come across one, and the only reason we did was because we were stranded in the woods at night after our oxcart was destroyed by an Ogre.

That said, there are a couple of forced appearances of the Headless Horseman, so don’t worry too much.

The first is during the side quest, “Til Death Do Us Part,” which you can get from Margit in the Noble Quarter of Vernworth - provided you’ve finished “The Nameless Village,” not finished “Feast of Deception,” and also heard the rumour of Ser Rudolph from the messenger in Vernworth.

We also encountered one every time on the road north of Vernworth while in the Unmoored World, just by the bridge that leads over the river and into the Elven territory.

Simply defeat the Headless Horseman - it’s not too difficult to beat - and the ‘Before Dawn Breaks’ achievement is all yours.

  • Discovered 50 locations.

First things first, while the achievement description says “locations,” what it actually means is “dungeons” - so anything that has a cave symbol on the map. That means that the small flag icons, like the one you get when you pass through the Riverside Ruins, do not count.

That said, if you’re naturally exploring and doing side quests galore, you should get this fairly easily without too much issue. However, there are some tips that can make this infinitely easier that you should definitely pay attention to.

    • Firstly, you should be aware that it’s not enough to simply have the icon on the map by getting close enough. You literally need to go inside the cave, so much so that the mini-map changes from the world map to the dungeon map in the bottom left corner and you also see the dungeon name crop up as text in the middle of the screen.
    • Secondly, if you see a path with a dead end on the main map, follow it to the end, there’s a good chance that there’s a dungeon at the end.
    • Thirdly, if you’ve got a full party of Pawns with you, when one of them says that they know of an undiscovered location nearby, let them finish talking and press dpad-up.png on the d-pad (“Go”). Then, whichever Pawn said it will lead you to an undiscovered dungeon.
    • Fourthly, to keep track of how many you’ve discovered, hit pause and then go: History > Adventure Logbook > Exploring the World > Dungeons Discovered.

Simply discover and step foot into 50 dungeons, and ‘The Tourist’ achievement is all yours.

  • Took flight on griffin wing a second time.

In order to grab the ‘The Regriffining’ achievement, you basically need to recreate the opening scene from the game - where you get on a Griffin and fly to Vermund (thus why the achievement says for a second time).

In order to do that, you just need to climb onto the back of a Griffin (this unlocked for me on his back, despite the achievement description saying “Griffin wing”) using the “Grab” button, and then holding on until the Griffin takes flight.

    A few things to note:

    • Yes, you will have to do damage to the Griffin first for it to take flight.
    • And secondly, when you’re grabbing on and waiting for it to take flight, don’t waste your stamina on attacking, conserve it all for grabbing.

In regards as to where to find one, well, that’s more luck than judgement, but there always seemed to be one just south of the Checkpoint Rest Town.

Once the Griffin takes flight, the ‘Regriffining’ achievement is all yours.

  • Returned to Agamen Volcanic Island.

    Story-related, cannot miss.

The ‘Back Where It All Began’ achievement is one of the few absolutely guaranteed achievements you’ll get in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

If you head via Drabnir’s Grotto in the southwest of Battahl, you’ll unlock this achievement at the other end of the dungeon. If not, when you’re in the main quest, “The Guardian Gigantus,” as you pass through the Flamebearer Palace Spellseal Door, this will unlock.

  • Reached Dragonsbreath Tower.

    **Kind of Missable**

    Story-related. Can potentially miss.

Once you’re fully settled in Battahl, and have completed the main missions “Nation of the Lambent Flame,” “Flickering Shadows” and “Convergence”, you’ll find yourself in the main mission, “A New Godsway” where you have to “obtain fifteen Wyrmslife Crystals” - basically, dried and crystallised dragon’s blood.

Funnily enough, dead dragons in Dragon’s Dogma 2 usually drop 10-15 Wyrmslife Crystals, so job’s a good’un, and this quest will point you in the right direction of a lesser drake - to be found at the Dragonsbreath Tower - where you’ll get most of what you need.

Now, the reason we marked this as potentially missable, is because if you’ve killed a dragon before his point, and looted its body, then you can skip this part of the quest as you’ll already have the Wyrmslife Crystals that you'll need. That said, the area won’t suddenly become inaccessible, so you can always head there after. So if you do miss it, head to the far south-west of Battahl, which is where you’ll find Dragonsbreath Tower - and Sigurd, who will give you the mystic spearhead vocation for the Duo Destinies (10G) achievement.

If you’re still short of a few crystals, try the left-hand offshoot in the Cliffside Cave (near where the Chimera is), which is northeast of Bakbattahl. There’s 3 in the middle of the floor that we found there.

  • Reached Drabnir's Grotto.

    **Super Missable**

If you want to access the Agamen Volcanic Island way ahead of time - which you absolutely will want to do if you want to get all the vocations and all the Maister’s teachings before the endgame, you’ll need to head to Drabnir’s Grotto.

Drabnir’s Grotto is a dungeon in the southwest of Battahl, that connects Battahl to the Agamen Volcanic Island. To get there from Bakbattahl with relative ease, take the cart from the Battahl Ropeway Station One in the west of the city, to the Central Station, then head to Battahl Ropeway Station Four in the south.

From there, follow that road south until it eventually curves around to the east. At the end of said path is Drabnir’s Grotto - the gateway into the third and final area: Agamen Volcanic Island.

As soon as you head inside, the ‘Hope You Brought a Lantern’ achievement will unlock.

  • Reclaimed your items from the scavenger who stole them from you.

The actual tricky part of this achievement is finding the perfect place to do it - and that’s somewhere near a group of bandits and some harpies in the same area. We literally could only find one good place to do this: and that’s on the southern of the two paths that head east from the Checkpoint Rest Town.

In order to get this easily, just rest overnight at the inn in the Checkpoint Rest Town, and then before leaving town, give your squad the “Wait” command to leave them in town. Then, from there, run to the cave-like tunnel that’s on the aforementioned path to the east.

Then, when you come across the harpies and bandits, do not attack, just run around in circles until a harpy puts you to sleep. When asleep, a scavenger will jump on your back and steal a number of items from you.

To get the ‘To the Victor Go the Spoils’ achievement, just chase down and kill the scavenger, and get all your items back. Job’s a good’un!

Secret achievements

  • Witnessed the unmoored world.

    **Highly Missable**

The ‘Dragon’s Dogma 2’ achievement relates to one of the endings of Dragon’s Dogma 2, and will set you on the path to all the other ending achievements i.e. I, Talos (10G), The Hero (30G), The Guardian (30G), Dragon's Dogma (10G) and the second ending achievement, Closure (30G).

Now, the reason we mark this as missable, is because if you don’t do exactly the below after unlocking the standard ending, Peace (10G), you could miss it entirely.

So, after you’ve defeated the dragon in the Sovran of Vernworth ending, instead of selecting “restart game with current level and equipment,” select the other choice, “Load from Last Save.”

This will throw you into the final scene once again, where the Arisen takes their seat on the throne. However, this time you’re going to want to speak to the Pathfinder i.e. the blue-hazed spirit guide of sorts who’s been cropping up throughout the game.

Once you’ve spoken to him, he’ll move to a different place. Go to him, and speak again. Doing this will throw you back onto the back of the dragon as you're flying to the final showdown. - yes, the same dragon at the end of the Seat of Sovran ending.

However, this time you’re going to want to climb forward (and to the left), to get to the dragon’s heart. Also, don’t worry, it may look like you’re about to fall off, but you won’t.

When you get to the dragon’s heart, go into the menu and equip the Empowered Godsbane Blade. Then, when back in the game, you have to hit the button-x.png or button-y.png button, which will “Use on self.”

Once you’ve done that, you’ll be presented with a variety of cutscenes before landing in the Unmoored World. So, if you want to know how to get to the Unmoored World and unlock a achievement in the process, this is how.

From there on out, you need to pay attention to:

All of the above are Unmoored World achievements.

  • Helped the gigantus walk again.

    **Massively Missable**

If you’re following our guide for The Hero (30G), you’ll snap this up with no issue whatsoever. If you’re not, then let us assist.

Basically, while you’re trudging through the Unmoored World in Dragon’s Dogma 2’s post-game content, you’ll be able to embark on a quest called, “When Wills Collide,” which will guide you towards helping the Gigantus walk again.

While the first time through the Unmoored World, that quest appeared for us in our log. On our second time, it did not. If it doesn’t appear, though, fear not, head to the Volcanic Island Camp and go out the northern gates. You should see the Gigantus straight ahead of you.

Now, hopefully you used the Unmaking Arrow on Gigantus, because we’re not sure where he ends up if you didn't use it. For the purposes of this guide though: yay, you killed it early… and now it’s to the north of the Volcanic Island Camp.

Head up the slope on the west side of the canyon and at the top is Phaesus. Speak to Phaesus and then walk up to the Gigantus. Doing that will bring it to life, and also unlock the ‘I, Talos’ achievement.

This is of course missable, in the same way that the Unmoored World is missable.

  • Led the people to safety in the unmoored world.

    **Incredibly Missable**

After you’ve overcome the trials of the Unmoored World, and unlocked The Hero (30G) achievement, you now have all the time in the world to lead the people to safety - but still be warned, permadeath is still a thing, as is botching missions… yes, we botched a mission, and had to kill ourself and start again.

‘The Guardian’ achievement is pretty much related to 5 optional side quests when you’re in the Unmoored World, and are all a part of the “Halls of the First Dawn” questline. Now, first things first, we actually unlocked this achievement having only completed the first 3 out of the 5, but we’re unsure if we got lucky, so we’ve included the solution for all 5 quests below.

Before we crack on too, just a note: you need to do it in the below order, as it’s possible to lock yourself out of a side quest and ruin your run. For instance, we finished the “Civil Unrest” quest as we were trying to be time efficient, but it locked us out of the “Wandering Roots” side quest, as we needed to speak to someone in Bakbattahl (but they were being evacuated as a result of our actions).

The crux of this achievement, though, is to evacuate all the people you can, before you step through the final portal of sorts. Those 5 side quests are:

    • Venworth (Brant & Sven) - “The Regentkin’s Resolve”
    • Sacred Arbor (Glyndwr & Taliesin) - “Wandering Roots”
    • Bakbattahl (Manella) - “Civil Unrest”
    • Volcanic Island Camp (Ernesto) - “The Importance of Aiding Ernesto”
    • Evacuation Site (Henrique) - “Shepherds of the Pawns”

Before you do that, though, and before we move on with a step-by-step guide, remember to head to Rothias in the Seafloor Shrine, and get the “Halls of the First Dawn” started. Once you have, follow the following directions and you’ll easily get ‘The Guardian’ achievement.

    Regentskin

    • Speak to Brant in The Stardrop Inn.
    • Speak to Sven.
    • Speak to Disa.
    • Carry Disa to Sven.
    • Head to the West Oxcart Station.
    • Grab Allard.
    • Return to Sven.
    • Quest complete.

    Wandering Roots

    • Speak to Glyndwr in the centre of Sacred Arbor.
    • Speak to Taliesin.
    • Speak to Doireann by the Arborheart to start “The Ailing Arborheart” side quest.
    • Speak to Glyndwr.
    • Head to Bakbattahl.
    • Speak to Sara at Brokkr’s Smithy to finish “The Ailing Heart” and start “Out of the Forest, Into the Forge.”
    • Go back to Sacred Arbor.
    • Speak to Doireann.
    • Fetch 1 Rotten Apple and 1 Rotten Fish.
    • Return to Doireann, pick her up, and use a Ferrystone to return to Sara at Brokkr’s Smithy in Bakbattahl
    • Follow Sara to the Forge.
    • Collect Scalecinder while Brokkr eats - Now, the game says this is timed, and you have more than a few minutes, but just head inside and find the green clumps of Scalecinder to finish this before Sara comes back to fetch you (we got 5 and blitzed it) - That completes “Out of the Forest, Into the Forge.”
    • Return to Sacred Arbor and speak to Doireann.
    • Follow her to Taliesin.
    • Take Arborheart Cutting to Seafloor Shrine and “Examine” the soil in the centre of the marker area. Plant the cutting.
    • Return to Taliesin.
    • Quest complete.

    Civil Unrest

    • Speak to Menella in Bakbattahl at the crossroads near the southern Pilgrims’ Inn.
    • Head to the Vocation Guild where a duel is taking place - agree to watch over by saying “Agree to bear witness” - Nabrah and Scario will fight, just wait till it is finished.
    • Head to the Pilgrims’ Inn Flagship - Speak to the young child near the arguing parents, and give them some food.
    • Head to the southwest side of the Residential Ward - Grantt and Abba are fighting - unequip your weapon and punch them a little until they yield (don’t call for help, my Pawns came in and killed them when this happened, ha).
    • Speak to Menella.
    • Speak to Empress Nadinia in the Flamebearer Palace (again, don’t do this until you’ve evacuated the people of Sacred Arbor as it can end the quest “The Ailing Arborheart,” and lock you out of saving Sacred Arbor, which I did, and had to restart).
    • Quest complete.

    The Importance of Aiding Ernesto

    • Speak to Ernesto in the northern part of the Volcanic Island Camp.
    • Go to the Windwalker’s Home (killing everything on the way) - the southern path is longer, but safer, by the way.
    • Escort Gautstafr and Cliodhna back to the Volcanic Island Camp.
    • Speak to Ernesto.
    • Speak to Lamond and say “Escort the smith and his wife” and he agrees (not sure if you need to finish “The Sotted Sage” for him to agree so easily).
    • Return to Ernesto.
    • Quest complete.

    Shepherds of the Pawns

    • Head to the Evacuation Site.
    • Defeat the golem.
    • Speak to Henrique.
    • Follow Henrique to the cells.
    • Find the Diminished Godsway (in a big house directly east of the cells (and the apothecary)).
    • Return to Henrique.
    • Quest complete.

And that, ladies and gents, is a sure fire way to guarantee you ‘The Guardian’ achievement. Now all you need to do is head to the Seafloor Shrine and interact with the last red beam to initiate the true ending.

  • Overcame all the trials of the unmoored world.

    **Pretty Missable**

Once you’ve unlocked the Dragon's Dogma 2 (10G) achievement, and entered the Unmoored World, now the real hard work starts. The Unmoored World is a devastated version of Vermund and Battahl, where night and day no longer exists, and all that exists is this perpetually red-tinted world full of much more dangerous enemies. In fact, most enemies get an upgrade here. Garms are replaced by Wargs, Minotaurs become more devastating Goreminotaurs… heck, there are spirits that can possess your Pawns, which is highly annoying.

While it might sound daunting, we went in at a level 60 and it was a cakewalk for the most part. You should not really attempt this unless you’re at least a level 40-45 - especially for a couple of the bosses we’re about to talk about.

Let’s run through the basic concepts of the Unmoored World:

    • When you die-die (after running out of Wakestones), you return to the beginning of the Unmoored World, where you land in the new world once again. This is not a roguelike, when you respawn you lose all your progress, items, weapons you bought from your time in the Unmoored World. So, try not to die… and load up on Wakestones where possible.
    • Secondly, this is timed. However, because there is no night and day anymore, it’s not actually timed in the traditional sense. You basically have a number of rests - anything that refills the Loss Gauge. That said, we got through the entire thing (and The Guardian (30G) achievement too) without resting once, so that's easily possible. All we did was replace Pawns who were running low on maximum health; and used Allheal Elixirs to restore our Arisen and Main Pawns health to the max (they fully restore the Loss Gauge). You’ll know when it’s about to go to hell, though, as you’ll get a pop-up when you try and rest. That said, you’ve at least got 2 or 3 rests before that point, so feel free to use them - I didn’t, as we were too nervous to put a foot wrong.

Right, now you know the rules, you just need to know what to do. Basically, in a nutshell, you’re going to complete 4 trials. I say “you,” but 2 of those 4 are hands-off and easy enough; while the other two are proper boss fights with Dragon’s Dogma 2’s hardest bosses: the Vermund Purgener and the Sacred Arbor Purgener. The Vermund Purgenor can be especially tricky, down to the sheer movement speed of it, and its devastating attacks that can obliterate low level Pawns.

In terms of preparation for all the endgame and true ending content, you’re going to want to stock up on Ferrystones (as most of your endgame travel will be using that), Wakestones (for mainly the Vermund Purgenor) and if you can, the aforementioned Allheal Elixirs.

All the vendors now have new stock too, so it might be a good chance to stock up on the new weapons and armour if you can (the most powerful iterations of all the weapons are now available to purchase if you have a lot of spare cash).

Now, in terms of what you need to do, you basically need to do the following (in this order, preferably):

    • Step 1 - Complete “Dreams Apart” - You need to do this quest to get your main Pawn back (ignore “Halls of the First Dawn” for now, that’s in relation to The Guardian (30G) achievement) by going to the Forbidden Magick Research Lab. They’ll be with Phaesus in his quarters, which is above Ambrosius’ lab in B1F.
    • Step 2 - Save Vernworth - Head to the red beam in Vernworth (using the now evaporated seabed to get into the large structure to the southwest of the city). Along the way are some tough enemies, but feel free to avoid them. Inside, however, is the Vermund Purgener. The Vermund Purgenor is a pretty tricky boss, but this isn’t a traditional Dragon’s Dogma 2 boss fight. Oh no. In the Purgenor fights you can only do damage by attacking the glowing orb weak spots. In short, you’re trying to remove the red corruption/skin from it. So, start at the back legs and its tail, before working your way up its back, its front legs, the back of its neck and to its head. It’s a war of attrition, but steer clear of the obviously telegraphed world ending attacks (and pull your Pawns to you when it's winding them up) and you’ll be golden. As an aside, the reason we say to start here, is because if you fail this after doing everything else, it’s a waste of time. Get the hardest thing out the way first.
    • Step 3 - Save Sacred Arbor - Similar to the Vernworth step, this, albeit 100 times easier. The Sacred Arbor Purgener boss is basically a large snake/worm, and not only are its weak spots more obvious, it moves at half the pace of the Vermund Purgenor. Defeat this beast and job’s a good ‘un.
    • Step 4 - Complete “When Wills Collide” - Speak to Phaesus (who is to the north of the Volcanic Island Camp where the Gigantus fell, basically) and then walk up to Talos (the Gigantus). This will trigger a couple of fights to watch in the distance and some nice cutscenes. All you need to do is stand there and watch. Simple. Also, as an aside, we did this a few times, and sometimes the quest just didn’t appear. Fear not, do the exact same, and once the fight is over, the quest will appear and then be marked as done (and you’ll also get the I, Talos (10G) achievement as well).
    • Step 5 - Bakbattahl Final Trial - The trial in Bakbattahl is all you need to do now. The good news is, it’s easy. It’s not even a boss fight, it’s a simple (and fairly short) quest, that’s it. A couple of notes: Phaesus died a few times here for us: first time he resurrected on his own; the other time we used a Wakestone; so just be wary of that. Also, be careful of the meteors when you hit the Residential Ward, as they can hit hard.

Once that quest is complete, not only will the timer that’s a crutch in this section just stop entirely, but you’ll also unlock the final beam (in Seafloor Shrine), which is where you go for the actual ending (the Closure (30G) achievement). On top of that, ‘The Hero’ achievement will unlock too.

But wait, before you go to see the new ending, you need to go and save the people for The Guardian (30G) achievement and buy the Dragon's Dogma sword from The Drgonforged. Go, go, go! But remember, there’s no rush now.

  • Boarded the phantom oxcart.

    **Spookily Missable**

Now, the reason this one is missable, is because this is one of the many side quests in Dragon’s Dogma 2 that closes itself off after you get past a certain point. So, if you get past that point, you’ll have to wait for New Game Plus to do this side quest.

The “point” in question, here, is the “A New Godsway” main quest. On top of that, you don’t actually have to board the phantom oxcart to complete the quest… you can follow it, so it’s a doubly missable achievement.

The phantom oxcart in question here actually refers to the aptly named side quest, “The Phantom Oxcart,” which becomes available after you’ve finished the “Nation of the Lambent Flame” main quest. To start this quest, just simply head back to Vernworth after reaching Battahl, and you’ll hear a rumour about a phantom oxcart - this rumour can come from many sources, like Guerroro near the oxcart in the northwest of Vernworth, or even Wilhelmina at the Rose Chateau Bordelrie in the Noble Quarter.

Now, the first part of this side quest will be all about learning about the phantom oxcart, which you do at the northern side of the bridge that leads into the farmlands to the north of Vernworth. Just make sure you’re there at sunset, and cutscenes will do the rest.

After deciding what to do with Navil and speaking to Captain Brant about the oxcart, you’ll have to discover more about it: either by following it, or boarding it in “disguise as a Pawn.” For the purposes of this achievement, we want to board it, so that means disguising as a Pawn.

To do that is relatively simple. Basically, head back to the same point where the encounter took place with Navil and the oxcart, at the same time of the day, but this time remove all your armour, weapons and rings. Then, when the oxcart turns up, speak to the driver and you’ll be allowed to board. And it’s as simple as that, because somehow, being semi-naked means you’re a Pawn. Who’d have thought it, eh?

After a few seconds, when the cart pulls away with you in the back (after you’ve interacted with the gate), the ‘Are We There Yet?’ achievement will unlock.

As a side note, if you want to see the side quest through to its conclusion: don’t get out your weapons on the monster attack ambush; and don’t retaliate at the gates when the guards get handsy.

For a more in-depth walkthrough of that quest, check out our Dragon’s Dogma 2 - How to board the Phantom Oxcart guide.

  • Witnessed a brawl break out in your dwelling among your admirers.

The ‘Pleny Arisen to Go Round’ achievement requires a few things before you can attempt it:

    • First things first, you need a dwelling, which you can get from the side quest, “A Place Called Home” and you’ll need for the A House? In This Economy? (10G) achievement.
    • Secondly, you need to get 2 NPCs to max affinity, who aren’t vendors or traders (as they just disappeared when I left them in my home). You can do that with 4 Wyrmslife Crystals (2 per person, gifted 24 hours apart).

In order to tell someone is max affinity with you, just use the grab button on them - if you put them over your shoulder and they try to wriggle free, they are not max affinity. However, if you scoop them up and carry them with your two arms, in front of you, they are at max affinity.

Once you have two NPCs that are at max affinity, preferably around the Vernworth market. With a bit of luck one of the two NPCs should follow you aimlessly around the city. When one is following you, lead them to the other NPC and pick them up in your arms.

From there - with one in your arms and one following you - walk slowly towards your house (careful not to lose the follower), then go inside and put the one in your arms down. Doing that should prompt a “brawl,” so to speak.

Once they start hitting each other, the ‘Plenty Arisen to Go Round’ achievement will unlock.

  • I'm In

    15

Used illicit means to pass through the gate at the border.

The “gate at the border” that this achievement refers to is the large fortress gate at the far west of Vermund - the large gate at the south of the Checkpoint Rest Town. The usual way through this gate, as hinted at in the main quest, “Feast of Deception” by Captain Brant, will unlock you the Across the Border (10G) achievement. However, this one is slightly different.

While the ‘I’m In’ achievement might seem missable, the truth is, it’s not - and I say this from experience, having unlocked it after passing through the gate legitimately multiple times. So, first things first, you don’t have to do this on your first attempt through the gate, it can be your 100th attempt if you want.

In terms of how to actually get through using “illicit means,” well, that is actually incredibly easy. All you need to do is wait for a proper horse-drawn carriage (not an oxcart) to make its way into Checkpoint Rest Town and then you need to get into the back of it, and wait for it to go through the gate and across the border. It’s that easy. In terms of what it actually looks like: think of your traditional fantasy horse-drawn carriage that the nobles use.

Few things to note for this one, however:

    • Firstly, make sure you put the “Border Entry Permit” and the “Battahl Residence Permit” you have into storage beforehand.
    • Secondly, before you do this, go and rest at the The Sword & Staff inn, as this will create a save point you can reload after - the only reason you need this is, because getting out the cart after going through the checkpoint aggros the guards when you get out on the other side.
    • Thirdly, the horse drawn carriage usually comes around the middle of the day (after the oxcart has left the North Border Checkpoint Oxcart Station), so feel free to rest till morning at the inn, and then find a bench and rest once.

After you’ve done that and got the ‘I’m In’ achievement, quit out, and “Load from Last Inn Save” and then carry on with whatever it was you were doing.
