Introduction:
Welcome to Geometry Survivor, an exact mix of Geometry Wars and Vampire Survivors. This game looks identical to a Geometry Wars game in every way, but it has the exact same gameplay as Vampire Survivors. It's an auto-battler where your weapons fire automatically, enemies swarm in large numbers, and you need to dodge them to stay alive, leveling up to get stronger/more weapons to stay alive. It has roguelite elements just like Vampire Survivors: you can spend currency between runs to upgrade stats such as health, lives, magnet, etc. Strangely, this game's achievement list is drastically smaller than all other auto-battlers out there, tasking you with only surviving a single full 20-minute run. Let's get started.

Abbreviated Walkthrough:
As noted above, this game's achievements are incredibly simple and straightforward compared to other auto-battlers, which tend to have huge achievement lists and require dozens of hours. This one just consists of surviving until the end of a single 20-minute run, and that's it. While I guess it is theoretically possible to do this on your first attempt, that's incredibly unlikely unless you're really good and get really lucky. You're most likely going to take at least 2-3 runs (so close to an hour of total game time) or upwards of three hours (if you need to grind out some currency to get more upgrades to survive easier).

That's really all there is to say for this straightforward list. Refer to Survive 20 (50G) for tips on how to survive until the end of a run. Once you've done that, you'll unavoiably have all 20 achievements and you'll be done with this quick and fun completion.

Conclusion:
Geometry Survivor has a great aesthetic, especially if you liked the Geometry Wars games, and the gameplay is fun like all auto-battlers tend to be. Unfortunately, the content is extremely small here: a single level, no really interesting character variety, and a pretty paltry achievement list that doesn't encourage you to do much in the way of replayability. Some people might need to play longer to get more upgrades, but it shouldn't take anyone more than a few hours to knock out this completion. It was fun while it lasted. Congrats on the completion!

All of the achievements in this game just task you with surviving for a full 20-minute run. This game has a roguelite format where, if you die, you have to start over from the beginning of a run, but you'll get rewarded with credits during runs that allow you to buy upgrades between runs for things like health, lives, speed, invulnerability time, etc. It's therefore possible for someone with virtually no skill to power their way through this completion by just doing attempt after attempt and saving up credits to upgrade your ship to increase the chances of victory. On top of that (or alternatively, since it's expensive), there is the option for buying different ships too. I personally didn't need to buy a ship (nor could I afford any in my time with this completion), but the Sandbox ship definitely sounds invaluable, as it regenerates health, which is huge for survivability. If you're struggling with this game, I recommend saving up for that ship. Otherwise, for upgrades, spend them on health, evolution, and lives. The rest won't have much of an impact.

As for my experience and tips based on it, I got this completion on my second run. My first run, I died around four or five minutes in, barely had any credits so I couldn't afford any upgrades or new ships, and so I jumped into my second run, which I won, getting the completion. Here are my tips:

    • In general, just do medium-sized circles around the arena. Don't get too close to the walls/corners so you don't get trapped
    • Constantly circle back to the enemy drops to pick them up so you can level up.
    • Never put yourself in harm's way to pick up anything. Circle around and come back to it
    • On the same token, turning around and reversing direction is extremely risky. You never know how many enemies will be piled up behind you that you'll be flying right into
    • Always be on the lookout for powerup drops. These are pretty rare, and I'm not sure if they can despawn or if they'll just sit there, but they're extremely useful. There is a little blue lightning bolt, and it sucks in all enemy drops around the arena, which is usually good for a free level up. There is a red heart, which gives you another hit you can take. And lastly (and most importantly) is a green DNA helix-looking item. This grants you a sort of mutation to one of your weapons, and my experience is that they were all really damn good. Things such as making my Fat Laser really wide and longer, making my regular shots cause enemies to explore and kill those around them, giving my quad lasers a second rotation, etc. Always make it a point to grab all pickups, but the DNA ones are the biggest game changes.
My experience is that there is a huge gap between really effective weapons and ineffective weapons. Here are the ones that seemed most effective to me.

    Best Weapons
    • Fat Beam - this is by far the best weapon. It's the only weapon you can direct, and everything it touches dies instantly. It's a little hard to rely on initially, but full upgraded to reduce the cooldown means it fires very often, and then evolve it to last longer and you'll be tearing through. You'll normally have enemies following you, so as soon as this fires, spin around in a circle to wipe out all enemies around you instantly
    • Quad Laser - this one is great for keeping enemies away from you. It already fires pretty often, and upgrading it extends its range. When it fires, you'll want to try to move parallel to enemies to destroy them, but if you're going it circles, it'll catch nearly all enemies
    • Blast Shield - this is another huge one, especially if you don't have the Sandbox ship. This makes you invulnerable to the next hit, and lets out an explosion when you get it. It takes a while to regenerate at first, but fully upgraded it comes back quite fast. This is by far the best way to preserve your health and stay alive longer
    Worst Weapons
    • Clock Gun - single projectiles in a circle pattern. Somewhat helpful early one, but single bullets don't cut it in the second half where they are swarms of enemies everywhere
    • Phasing - good in theory but you can't control it, so it won't necessarily be there when you need it. Plus it'll give you a false sense of security and likely cause you to mess up
    • Slingshot - better than others here but slow and still a single projectile in one direction, which isn't helpful later on
    • Forcefield - doesn't even destroy anything, so it's useless. It just slows enemies. Not worth being used considering you start off fast enough to outrun enemies anyway
Note that I haven't tried every weapon, so there are likely ones that are good and bad from the remaining selection. For example, Black Hole seemed good from what little I've seen of it. Feel free to try out the others.

On my successful run, which was my second run, I had the Fat Beam, Quad Laser, Blast Shield, Clock Gun, and Proximity Blaster. The Fat Beam and Quad Laser were racking up all my kills. I honestly couldn't even tell what the Proximity Blaster was doing or if it was helping. The Clock Gun was decent in the beginning, but it only shoots single bullets, so it doesn't help with mobs of enemies. I therefore focused entirely on upgrading Fat Beam first, Blast Shield, and Quad Laser. I then did the others, but it was absolutely those first three that allowed me to be successful. I'm not saying they're required, but if you can get at least one or two of them, you should be pretty set.
