Introduction:
“Dive into the captivating world of Classic Pool, an exhilarating game that invites you to showcase and elevate your skills in the timeless realm of pool. Immerse yourself in the challenge as you select from a diverse array of A.I. opponents, each with their unique strategies. With an extensive collection of cues and tables at your fingertips, the possibilities are as endless as your ambition.

Whether you're a seasoned pool enthusiast or a newcomer looking for a dynamic challenge, Classic Pool promises an unparalleled experience that will keep you coming back for more.” - xbox.com

Despite the official description above, Classic Pool is your basic billiards game. It contains very few actual rules and is more of an arcade-style billiards game than a simulation. There are only two game modes; single player and multiplayer, and both offer the same type of match, 8-ball. There is no variation of game types (9-ball, straight pool) making replayability very low. The game is enjoyable for what it is.

Single Player Walkthrough:
All but one of the single player achievements are related to beating the five A.I. opponents. For the last one, Winning Streak (50G), you must win five games in a row, but it can be done while you are playing against each opponent.

Play through five opponents and win each match. To make sure you never lose, if you think you are going to lose, instead of playing until the end, you can always pause the match and quit. This guarantees that your winning streak stays intact as quitting has no impact on it. It might take a couple of tries each to beat your opponents, but none are too difficult.

Local Multiplayer Walkthrough:
There are two achievements tied to local multiplayer; play a multiplayer match and win a multiplayer match. The way it should work is that you use a second controller to join a match, but for the life of me, I couldn’t get a second player to join. What I ended up doing is just letting time expire on the second player on each turn while I sunk everything with the first player.

Conclusion:
There is no real challenge unlocking any of the achievements but it is still a fun game to play if you just want to knock a few balls around.

There are 13 achievements with a total of 1000 points

  • Unlock all available achievements in the game

This will unlock when all other achievements have unlocked.
  • Play your first match in single-player mode

Simply select ‘Single Player’ from the menu and once you start the match this will unlock.
  • Play your first game in multiplayer mode

Simply select ‘Multiplayer’ from the menu and once you start the match this will unlock.
  • Win your first match in single-player mode

Refer to Challenger (50G) for more information.
  • Win your first match in multiplayer mode

Select ‘Multiplayer’ from the main menu. On the next screen, you would normally sign in a second controller to play against someone, but for some reason this does not work. No matter what I did, I could not get a second controller to sign in.

So what I ended up doing is when it was the second player’s turn, I would just let their time expire, resulting in a scratch. This allowed me to place the ball anywhere I wanted making for an easy shot. If I missed a subsequent shot, I would let the time run out on the second player’s turn again then repeat. Keep doing this until you sink the 8-ball and win the match.
  • Win a match with second opponent in single-player mode

Refer to Challenger (50G) for more information.
  • Win a match with third opponent in single-player mode

Refer to Challenger (50G) for more information.
  • Win a match with fourth opponent in single-player mode

Refer to Challenger (50G) for more information.
  • Win a match with fifth opponent in single-player mode

Refer to Challenger (50G) for more information.
  • Win a match against each of the opponents

Select ‘Single Player’ from the main menu. There are five opponents; Lily, Mike, Steve, Emma, and Roger. As you win a match against one, the next becomes available. You also earn an achievement for defeating each one.

Each A.I. is a little bit more difficult than the last but it isn’t really that bad. As you progress with each opponent, they tend to take riskier shots and are more successful with them, but it isn’t foolproof. Winning against them takes a bit of precision and skill but it is mainly luck-based for both players depending on where the balls end up.

Defeating all five opponents will unlock this achievement, Legendary (50G), Cue Friend (50G) and Table Manager (50G). You can also earn Winning Streak (50G) if you do not lose a single match. Refer to that achievement for more information.
  • Unlock all available cues in the game

There are five different cues. They unlock as you defeat opponents in single player. This unlocks at the same time as Challenger (50G).
  • Unlock all available billiard tables

There are three different cues. They unlock as you defeat opponents in single player. This unlocks at the same time as Challenger (50G).
  • Win 5 matches in a row in single-player mode

This achievement can be earned at the same time as Challenger (50G). As you are playing through single player, if you feel that you are going to lose the match, you can pause the match and quit. This does not count against you and your streak is maintained. Simply start a new match against the same opponent and play until you win it. Doing this guarantees that you never lose a match.

Alternately, this can be done against one opponent as well. If you decide to do this, it is recommended that you play against Lily as they are the least difficult.
