Introduction:
Welcome to Windscape, a first-person adventure game that draws some inspiration from Legend of Zelda, but with the added aspect of collecting resources to use for crafting items, armor, weapons, etc. It's an extremely simple game, with very basic fights and just a simple string of main missions to follow. As far as achievements go, basically every single one will unlock either unavoidably or naturally with progression. However, if you still want a guide, I've provided one for you. Let's get started.

Abbreviated Walkthrough:
As noted above, essentially every single achievement will unlock through natural progression. Most achievements are story related and unmissable, and the remaining ones are all part of core game mechanics that you can't really miss.

Gather resources that you see around you, starting from the beginning of the game and throughout. Not only will it unlock an achievement after your first 10, but you'll need to use resources to craft stuff and make food to heal. Really, the only non-story achievements are for gathering resources, crafting, and defeating enemies. The latter is unavoidable, so gather resources and use them to craft health items, and new weapons and armor, and you'll have the completion by the time you beat the game.

This game does a terrible job of providing a useful tutorial, so this section is tutorial stuff plus tips with playing the game:

  • Use lb.png to sprint. It's way easier on your thumb, and it allows you to sprint in all directions (while strafing, while backing up, etc.)
  • Use lt.png to block. This is handy to help mitigate damage
  • Abuse save points to refill your health. They are pretty prevalent, so if you take damage while fighting enemies, don't hesitate to backtrack to refill your heath
  • Use button-y.png to jump right to your inventory rather than pausing and tabbing over
  • You can use dpad-left.png and dpad-right.png to cycle between your weapons rather than going to inventory and equipping the one you want
  • As you make better weapons, sell or discard the old one. This is especially true for magic (Fireball and Ice Bolt) because it's literally impossible to tell the difference between the Weak Fireball, Strong Fireball, and Master Fireball when scrolling through using the directional pad
  • In general, don't waste time exploring. I rarely did, and when I did, I'd find an enemy encampment or something, and there'd just be enemies there. Nothing worth the exploration
  • Speaking of enemies, they can drop useful materials for crafting, but once you've crafted the armor or weapon with the material they drop, it's pointless to even kill enemies, because all they drop is either hearts, coins, or materials. No XP or any reason to kill them
  • Speaking of coins, coins and the shop in general are essentially useless. Right in the beginning of a playthrough ,spend all the money you want on dry wood and stew ingredients, because you will never use that money again. Shop ingredients do not change at all throughout a playthrough, so that basic level stuff is all you're ever going to get
  • When fighting enemies, above their health bar it'll show what they're resistant to. Make sure you're adjusting your weapon accordingly. Similarly, adjust your armor accordingly. For example, in the Graveyard section (second dungeon), all enemies use fire, ice, and arcane attacks, so armor that resists Cut and Blunt is useless. Likewise if you still have magic defense but are fighting melee attackers
  • No need to talk to any other NPCs or do any side quests. There are no achievements related to it and the rewards aren't needed
  • In all my time with this game, I never found the one crafting ingredient needed to craft Healing Potions. I have no idea where to find it, and so all of my Healing Potions were ones I found in chests and whatnot. I found 5 total, and used one on the final boss fight. Keep this in mind when it comes to using these, because they instantly heal you to full health, whereas the stews very slowly heal you part way. I recommend saving Healing Potions for boss fights only
Regarding general progression, the quest markers show you exactly where to go for the most part, but in a few cases they don't. Here's more guidance if you need any.

  1. The first set of missions have you doing simple delivery quests. Follow the quest markers to go between the town and your home. In the town, make sure to buy the Pickaxe and Lumberjack Axe so you can mine for ore and chop down trees
  2. The first dungeon is the mission where you get sent to the mine. Before going in, try to make a better weapon. I made the Bronze Sword and it was plenty good for this dungeon and its boss. You may need to run around and farm a bit of copper ore and/or dry wood (although you can buy dry wood from the vendors), but crafting the Bronze Sword is pretty easy. You can also make a new armor to help out. Go with one that improves resistance to Cut, since that's what the enemies and boss will use on you. The dungeon itself is really straightforward: follow each path to a switch, and after all three switches are hit, head to the boss door. For this boss, stay away when it's running around throwing out dynamite, and then when it stops, strafe around it and melee it continually, then retreat and repeat.
  3. The next missions take you to the Graveyard area. At the Graveyard is where the quest markers drop off, for some strange reason. The guy at the Graveyard will give you the materials needed to craft the Weak Ice Bolt at the nearby Alchemy table. Do so, and now you need to open the Crypt. From the stairs leading up to the Crypt, head left and follow this winding path up onto a hill where you can interact with a coffin to spawn a fire ghost miniboss. Use your Ice magic to defeat it. Take the chest items and return to the Alchemy table where you can now craft the Weak Fireball. This time take the right path from the stairs and follow it to an ice lake with a coffin you can interact with to spawn an ice ghost. Use your fireball to defeat it. Now the Crypt will open for your second dungeon. This one is again linear, and there are again three switches to hit to gradually access more of the dungeon. In the final room on the first floor, with the fire and ice at the top of the structure, you need to run around the base of it and activate the three switches. This will spawn both a fire and ice ghost on top. Defeat them to open the door, then drop down the hole to the next floor. For the second floor, it's just a sequence of following a glowing orb, staying in the light so you don't die. Platforming is required but it's pretty simple. At the end is a purple demon enemy. You can either defeat it or just avoid its attacks, then drop in the hole at the end. Now you're at the boss level. This boss only has two attacks again: it'll either shoot at you with purple orbs (these are pretty strong, so dodge them), or it'll shoot out three purple lasers that spawns three enemies, which you should immediately defeat. Eventually, the boss will spit out its heart, which you can hit over and over to do way more damage. Repeat this cycle one more time to beat it.
  4. With that boss beaten, it's time to go to the longest section. Return to town and head to the lower part where the airship (big blimp) is waiting for you. Interact with the nearby book to fly it. Head to the island in the center of the overworld, which is the Maaki Desert. This is the first place (to my knowledge) where you can make Charcoal so you can finall forge Iron Bars to make better weapons and armor. Cut down Palm Trees here if you haven't cut down Pine Trees in the previous areas, and use the oven in the back right corner of town to make Charcoal. Hopefully you've mined a bunch of Iron Ore along the way, and now you can use the Workbenches to make better stuff. I made the Iron Cutlass, personally, as well as the Iron Chainmail armor. With that done, the first series of quests are simple but require running all over the desert. Nothing difficult though. I just used my Weak Fireball to take down all enemies from a distance. You'll eventually go to the temple to get the Key of Wisdom. This is a short mini dungeon with no boss fight, and it's linear, so go through it and get the Key. After returning to town with the key, you'll be told to go to the Pyramid in the northwest. Here's where you can get important crafting materials to make the Strong Fireball and Gold armor/weapons, so pay attention. At the Pyramid, there is a snake miniboss in each corner (follow the rail out from each corner to a little alcove where the snake miniboss is). Most important is to grab the crafting material each snake drops when you defeat it. The fire snake drops the material needed for the Strong Fireball, the ice snake does the same for the Strong Bolt of Ice, and the other two drop important materials too. Around the back of the Pyramid (directly opposite the entrance), there is a side path leading up a hill to a little enemy encampment. Defeat the enemies and go up there to find a chest with a Big Mana Stone inside. This is necessary for making the Strong Fireball. At this point I had all materials needed to make the Strong Fireball, but if you don't, you'll get more inside the Pyramid. Head inside for this dungeon. Go left and right and defeat the Mummies to get Life Essenece crafting materials. Head to the center, open the chest to get a Big Mana Stone, and use it all to craft the Owl Wing, this game's equivalent of the hookshot. The rest of the dungeon is straightforward. Just explore each side path for enemies and chests to get more crafting materials. I got many Gold Plates dropped from enemies on side paths such that I was able to craft both the Gold Plated Armor (second best in the game) and the Golden Dagger (alternatively, you could make the Golden Hammer), and the Golden Dagger lasted me all the way to the end of the game. For the boss fight, it is absolutely critical to keep your distance, because he does an AoE fire attack (telegraphed by a circle on the ground) that does around 100 damage to you. Stay away and shoot him with Strong Fireballs and he'll be a really easy fight
  5. The next area to head to is Tambora, which is the island in the southeast of the overworld map (you need to dock on the western side). In this area, you'll be making the Mirthil Axe so you can mine Danium, which is necessary to complete this dungeon. You'll also be able to mine Mithril Ore, which is used to make the best bow in the game (Mithril Bow) and the second best armor in the game. Lastly, you can make the Maintenance Wrench in this dungeon, which is the strongest Blunt melee weapon in the game, and good for the final boss. Definitely make it a point to gather all the resources you see in this dungeon. Otherwise, this dungeon is pretty simple. There's a lot of backtracking to gather resources to make Danium Cores to power up elevators to get to new areas, but it's all pretty simple because there are barely any enemies in this dungeon. Golden Dagger makes short work of them all. The boss of this dungeon is an absolute joke. Literally don't move from where you spawn into the fight, and just use the Mithril Bow or Strong Bolt of Ice to shoot him from where you spawn. He can't even hurt you there, so this is quick and easy fight.
  6. With that done, you'll fly to the final area, the island in the southwest. This is a linear section where you'll go through four biomes and have to destroy a purple crystal-holding flower to remove forcefield generators. Most important in this dungeon area is the third biome, that is like green poisonous fumes around you (doesn't actually hurt you). The gold enemies in this area drop the most important crafting materials. IMPORTANT: The boss door at the end of this dungeon is the point of no return. Not only that, the game saves AFTER the point of no return, meaning if you enter the boss door with no potions and weak armor/weapons, you could literally be stuck unable to beat the final boss and need to start the entire game over again, as crazy as that sounds. As a result, this isn't all necessary, but it's what you should easily be able to make with the resources in this area, particularly the third biome area right before the boss door:
    1. Master Fireball (main weapon against the final boss)
    2. Master Armor (immensely helpful for surviving final boss's attacks)
    3. Multiple stews (have a few of each, to be safe)
  7. The final boss will be a piece of cake with the Master Fireball and Master Armor. I just spam max charge Master Fireball on him, and when he drops to the ground level, wail away on him with the Maintenance Wrench. I had to heal once to max health with a healing potion, but that was it.
By the time you beat the game, you'll have the completion.

Conclusion:
Windscape is extremely simple and basic. The world looks pretty good and its controls are good enough, but the combat is pretty lacking and gets really repetitive. The boss battles are the only relatively interesting fights in the game, and there are only a few of those. Even so, this game is an enjoyable little detour if you're looking for a relaxing adventure game. The completion shouldn't pose any problems for even amateur gamers, so congrats on another 1000gs.png.

There are 16 achievements with a total of 1000 points

  • Defeat 5 enemies.

    Story-related; cannot be missed.

You'll get this in the opening minutes of the game, but there are five bosses in the game in addition to other required enemies to defeat.
  • Craft 5 items at the different workstations.

    Story-related; cannot be missed.

This achievement includes every possible crafting scenario: weapons, armors, items, and dungeon-specific things. This is story related because you need to make stew for the first mission, the fireball and ice bolt for the second dungeon, and Danium cores for the fourth dungeon. However, you need to be crafting new weapons and armor throughout the progression to have a chance against enemies and bosses.
  • Crypt

    75

Enter the Crypt deep under the graveyard.

    Story-related; cannot be missed.

This is the beginning of the second dungeon. Refer to the roadmap for details on progression.
  • Find the Pyramid in the Desert.

    Story-related; cannot be missed.

This is the beginning of the third. Refer to the roadmap for details on progression.
  • Find the Desert Temple.

    Story-related; cannot be missed.

This is the beginning of a mini dungeon before the third dungeon. Refer to the roadmap for details on progression.
  • Gather 10 resources.

    Story-related; cannot be missed.

You'll be gather likely hundreds of resources, and this will probably be your first achievement. It's story related because you'll be required to gather materials to craft stuff needed to progress the story.
  • Enter the spooky graveyard.

    Story-related; cannot be missed.

This is the beginning of the second area. Refer to the roadmap for details on progression.
  • Complete 3 quests.

    Story-related; cannot be missed.

This will be one of your first achievements, since the first three quests are just simple fetch quests that take a few minutes.
  • Jivana

    50

Travel to Jivana and find out more about the evil that is threatening your world.

    Story-related; cannot be missed.

This is the beginning of the final dungeon. Refer to the roadmap for details on progression.
  • Kane

    100

Defeat Kane and save the life spending tree of Jivana.

    Story-related; cannot be missed.

This is the final boss of the game. Refer to the roadmap for details on progression and tips on all boss fights, including this one.

WARNING: When you enter the boss door, the game saves, and there is no way to leave or craft anything new. Therefore, you need to be absolutely certain you have everything you want for this final fight. If you somehow entered with terrible weapons and armor, and no way to heal, you could put yourself in an unwinnable situation requiring you to restart the game from scratch. Recommendations for the final fight include Master Fireball, Maintenance Wrench, and Master Armor, as well as at least one healing potion and multiple stews.
  • Cut down 5 trees.

This is cumulative, and the only reason achievement that isn't technically story related. However, you will assuredly be cutting down trees to use to make Charcoal in the Maaki Desert region so you can craft the next best weapons and armor.
  • Travel to Maake Desert.

    Story-related; cannot be missed.

This is the beginning of the third area. Refer to the roadmap for details on progression.
  • Mines

    50

Enter the Mines on Evergreen Island.

    Story-related; cannot be missed.

This is the beginning of the first dungeon. Refer to the roadmap for details on progression.
  • Enter Sky Harbor.

    Story-related; cannot be missed.

This is the first town you come to. Refer to the roadmap for details on progression.
  • Travel to Tambora, which was once a mining colony.

    Story-related; cannot be missed.

This is the beginning of the fourth dungeon. Refer to the roadmap for details on progression.
  • Find Walters Watermill.

    Story-related; cannot be missed.

This is related to the fourth quest of the game, before the first dungeon even. Refer to the roadmap for details on progression.
