Introduction:
Welcome to Turnip Boy Robs a Bank, the sequel to Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion. You definitely don't need to have played the first before playing this one, though. This game has a roguelite format with shmup gameplay. Basically, each run you go on, you enter the bank to explore and steal money, defeating enemies and bosses along the way. You open up more of the bank to explore by defeating bosses to get their keycards, but also by returning to the hub between runs to buy permanent items to open up new areas. Along the way, you'll be getting lots of different ranged and melee weapons to help out, encountering tons of NPCs, many of which have side quests for you to complete, and spending your hard-earned money between runs on permanent upgrades to things such as damage, dodge distance, max health, and others. Achievements require you to beat the game and complete all side quests, as well as buying everything in the hub. This is all surprisingly straightforward to do. Let's get started.
Abbreviated Walkthrough:
As noted in the overview, not only can you play on the easier difficulty, but there are also Accessibility options, including God Mode and some other things that game this game far easier than it otherwise would be. Feel free to utilize as much of this as you want to improve your experience. No achievements are affected.
Second, I'll quickly run through how this game works, since I wasn't expecting a roguelite experience when I started it. Each "run" has you entering the bank to steal money and progress farther into it. You can only carry a set amount of cash, but you can carry an unlimited amount of objects worth money (such as stuff you pick up from display cases). These add to your total after each run, so don't be alarm if your dollar amount doesn't go up when picking them up. You'll only be able to get so far in each run, and then you'll encounter some sort of barrier that'll require an item from the Dark Web to get past. To end each run, you'll need to head back to your truck at the entrance to the bank and leave. If time runs out, enemies start coming after you and attacking in higher and higher numbers. It uses a star system similar to Grand Theft Auto. Your stars increase the longer you spend fighting enemies and not leaving. If you stay to five stars, you get gassed everywhere. This is meant to kill you incredibly quickly, but if you use God Mode it won't impact you. However, be aware that after some minutes at five stars being gassed, eventually you'll be auto-killed, and even God Mode won't stop that. Dying (or this auto-kill if using God Mode) means you lose every single thing you've picked up and half the cash you collected. You'll therefore always want to get to your truck by the time the gas starts, to be safe. Your truck takes you back to the hub where you can donate weapons for research, buy "roids" to permanently increase stats for the next run, and buy items from the Dark Web which essentially function as story objects needed to progress further. So, you'll be alternating between the bank runs and buying stuff in the hub as you work on this completion.
Since this is a roguelite, go ahead and jump in, getting used to different types of earning money, enemies, and exploration. Some things to specifically focus on while you play:
Conclusion:
Turnip Boy Robs a Bank is a crazy game. I had no idea what to expect going into it, but I had a ton of fun and couldn't put it down. The gameplay is really fun and addictive, the dialogue is ridiculous, with tons of references to various popular culture and online memes, and everything about the game is silly and over the top. It's a fun and hilarious experience from start to finish, and Accessibility options make it even easier to enjoy. This is one of the fastest and easiest games in the roguelite genre, so it's a great stepping stone for those new to the type of gameplay. Hopefully you enjoyed too, and congrats on the completion.

So, you'll be alternating between the bank runs and buying stuff in the hub as you work on this completion.
Since this is a roguelite, go ahead and jump in, getting used to different types of earning money, enemies, and exploration. Some things to specifically focus on while you play:
- Always end your run back at the truck with two weapons you picked up during the run (meaning get one new one and ditch the one you brought to bring a second new one). The reason for this is because you need to donate your weapons you brought back in the upper right corner of the hub to increase research meter up to level 10 for an achievement. The only way to do this is with two weapons from each run. This will take many runs to level up, so make sure you're always contributing towards it
- During each run, always look for and interact with any NPC with a red exclamation above their head. That NPC has a new side quest for you to complete. Also keep an eye out for NPCs with a green exclamation, because those will progress and/or complete an existing side quest
- You'll be taught that elevators are randomized on each run. Always check every elevator on each run, because all of them have NPCs with side quests and ways to earn money
- As you progress further into the bank, you'll fight bosses and get keycards to access new areas. Each time you access a new area, the money you get in that area is far money than the previous area. At that point, I'd recommend skipping getting any money in the previous area. For example, on your first couple runs, you'll be getting enough money to likely max out your bag at $1,000 and earning hundreds from other sources. However, after beating the first boss and getting to the second area (Seed Stock), the money will be coming in closer to the thousands. Relics you collect from display cases are worth $1,000 instead of $100 in the first area. Similarly, when you get to the third area in the dark with the green slime, display case relics are worth $10,000 instead of $1,000. With this type of progress, you'll want to just run right through early areas on your new runs and beeline right to the new areas you've reached, to get the maximum amount of money
- Regarding the Roids you can buy in the hub, if you're playing with God Mode on and other Accessibility options, none of the Roids really matters except for the money bag. That should be your top priority, since you'll be maxing out at $1,000 very early. Keep upgrading your money bag
- In general, save and prioritize your money for the Dark Web items, especially if using God Mode. The Dark Web items are the only way to progress further, so get them on priority, then the money bag.
Conclusion:
Turnip Boy Robs a Bank is a crazy game. I had no idea what to expect going into it, but I had a ton of fun and couldn't put it down.
