Introduction:
Welcome to Sam & Max Save the World, a point and click adventure game from Telltale, back before they got famour for their narrative driven games. If you played the original XBLA release of this game, this one is identical in every way except for the miscellaneous achievements, which they decided to change for some reason. In my opinion, they are simpler and easier in this version. If you're unfamiliar with this game, it's a very tongue-in-cheek game with lots of satire and humor, not taking itself seriously at all. It's also one of the simpler and more straightforward point and click games, making it easier to enjoy the dialogue, humor, and story. Each episode is basically a separate standalone chapter, with only a very thin connection between the six episodes. Achievements are easy: one for finishing each of the six episodes, and a single miscellaneous achievement in each. Let's get started.
Abbreviated Walkthrough:
As noted above, the achievements in this game are pretty straightforward: complete each episode, and get the single miscellaneous achievement in each one. Episode replay is available if you miss anything.
Conveniently, the achievements are in the guide in the order you unlock them, with each miscellaneous achievement located right before the story related episode achievement. I therefore won't bother listing out the miscellaneous achievements here since you can just go through the guide in order below for each achievement you need. If you want to follow a walkthrough for the entire game, the XBLA version still applies HERE. However, note that the miscellaneous achievements are different between the two versions. Therefore, if you're following that walkthrough, skip the miscellaneous achievements there and use the ones in order in the guide below. There is only one per episode, so it won't be hard to do whatsoever.
And that's all there is to it. If you mash
through all dialogue, you can easily finish this game is 5 hours. If you want to enjoy all the dialogue and figure things out for yourself, you're likely to spend at least an hour or more on each episode. Proceed however you see fit for this game, and once you finish all six episodes, you should be done with this completion.
Conclusion:
A classic from Telltale and still very ridiculous and enjoyable. There are pop culture references all over the place, lots of satire, and the humor still lands. It's also short and enjoyable enough, without any classicly convoluted point and click puzzles, making it way easier to enjoy even without a guide than others. Hopefully you enjoyed this nostalgia trip to a time when Telltale still made games like this, and congrats on the completion!
