Introduction:
Welcome to MotoGP 14 for the Xbox 360. MotoGP 14 takes us through all three classes of MotoGP; Moto3, Moto2 and MotoGP itself. There several different game modes to concentrate on. Each will be detailed in the guide below. MotoGP career is the one you will spend most of your time on. Except for one achievement, the game is very easy to obtain the full 1000. For that I have rated the difficulty a 4/10. Someone that is not used motorcycle racing or has not played a MotoGP game before may find it to be more difficult. The only suggestions I can give in that case is brake early, lean early and use caution with the brakes and accelerator while leaned in a curve or you will end up on the pavement.

Abbreviated Walkthrough:
Begin your playthough of MotoGP 14 in Career. Career mode will take roughly 12-15 hours and help you to learn the tracks and bike physics. Difficulty does not affect achievements, therefore to make your life easier, play on Easy AI difficulty, 15% race length, Joint Brakes, Max Rewind and Penalty Timer OFF. The rest are up to you. You should be able to earn all career related achievements in two seasons.

Once career is complete, there is the online, two challenge achievements and mop-up.

Multiplayer:
There are five online achievements. Each will be covered in detail in the guide below. Multiplayer will take approximately 5 hours to complete. Most of your time will be focused on completing 25 races online.

Mop-Up:
Several of the “mop up” achievements can easily be obtained during your MotoGP Career or Multiplayer play. Including:

  • The Exorcist
  • Make no mistake…
  • Play it again
  • The personal touch

Others will require specific attention. These would include:

  • Ah, what memories!
  • It’s all coming back to me...
  • The Return of the Champions
  • Tick tock tick tock…
  • Acrobat
  • Grinding Halt

Conclusion:
MotoGP is, in my opinion, an excellent motorcycle racing simulation. The graphics, sound, presentation and physics will leave a lasting impression. If you’re looking for a relatively quick and easy 1000, this game may be for you. However, if you’re not into motorcycles or MotoGP racing itself, this game may not be for you.

There are 43 achievements with a total of 1000 points

  • Complete your first online race

Unfortunately, the online community for the game is nearly extinct, so you may need a boosting partner. Simply complete one race online in any online mode for this achievement.

  • Complete an Online Championship

Select Multiplayer, Xbox Live and create an Online Championship from the game menus. You will be required to complete a minimum of two races for an Online Championship. Once complete, win or lose, the achievement will be yours.

  • Move from one category to another during an Online Sprint Season

Select Multiplayer, Xbox Live and Sprint Season from the game menus. You will essentially be required to win enough races and/or accumulate enough points to be “promoted” to the next higher class. In the case of the achievement, from Moto3 to Moto2.

The minimum point requirement is 60 points. In MotoGP, first place is awarded 25 points and second is awarded 20. In that case, you can see you will need to place at least second 3 times in the four race “season”. Find a boosting partner and race the AI on Easy difficulty. Both you and your partner will be able to unlock the achievement after three races. As soon as you reach the 60 point threshold, the achievement will unlock.

  • Hit the track for the first time in MotoGP™ Career mode

At the beginning of your MotoGP career, you will start in the Moto3 class. As soon as you start your first race in Career mode, you will receive this achievement.

  • Sign a contract for a season in Moto3™ in MotoGP™ Career mode

Early in career mode, you will choose a Moto3 team. This achievement might be slightly glitchy as the achievement will not unlock at this time as it seems it should. A few weeks later in your career, you will be offered several contracts from different teams. When offered, select a DIFFERENT Moto3 team from the current contract for this achievement.

If you haven’t already unlocked the "Stand by Me" achievement, one option is to dashboard at the screen where you can select a contract and copy your save files to a USB flash drive. After you have made a backup save, go back into the game, use your HDD for storage selection, and select the contract for the SAME Moto3 team, unlocking "Stand by Me". Dashboard once again, copy the backup save from the USB flash drive back to your HDD, restart the game, again select HDD as the storage selection, and this time select a DIFFERENT Moto3 team as the current contract for this achievement.

  • Successfully complete a Test Session in MotoGP™ Career mode

Several weeks into your first career season, there will be a “testing” opportunity at Mugello where you are required to post a specific lap time. These times are very easy to beat. These testing sessions cannot be skipped. The achievement will unlock at the end of the event.

  • Duel

    10

Beat one of your team-mates for the first time in MotoGP™ Career mode

Each team contract will feature a team-mate that you will receive a bonus if you beat on the track. This particular team-mate will have a yellow VS next to his name on the “touchscreen” in your trailer. You will likely win this achievement at the conclusion of your first race, but you WILL win this achievement at the conclusion of your first race if you win, as you have obviously beaten your teammate.

  • Unlock all the helmets for your personal rider

Helmets are awarded based on your rider level. The last helmet will unlock at Level 24, or 91,000 XP. You will likely earn this achievement before the end of the first year of career.

XP is earned from nearly every aspect of the game; Practice, Qualifying, Warmups, Race and Online. To maximize XP earned during your career and other races, set Bike Damage to “High” and win races.

  • Stay with your team when you are presented with the option of changing

Early in career mode, you will choose a Moto3 team. A few weeks later in your career, you will be offered several contracts from different teams. When offered, select the SAME Moto3 team as the current contract for this achievement.

If you haven’t already unlocked the "Rising Star" achievement, one option is to dashboard at the screen where you can select a contract and copy your save files to a USB flash drive. After you have made a backup save, go back into the game, use your HDD for storage selection, and select the contract for a DIFFERENT Moto3 team, unlocking "Rising Star". Dashboard once again, copy the backup save from the USB flash drive back to your HDD, restart the game, again select HDD as the storage selection, and this time select the SAME Moto3 team as the current contract for this achievement.

  • Set a time on any track in Time Attack mode

As the description says, simply set a time on any track in Time Attack mode.

  • Modify the bike settings via Engineer in the pit menu.

During a race, you can speak to your Engineer in the pre-race garage. Simply modify the bike settings yourself or have the engineer do so. Changing something simple like gear ratio will do the trick.

  • Look behind you while racing with Helmet Cam active in any game mode

This is a simple achievement that can be tricky to figure out. To change your view from a third person view to the "In Helmet" view, press three times from your starting third person view. Then press and hold down to look behind yourself in this view for the achievement.

  • Pull a continuous wheelie for 8 seconds in any game mode

This is easiest done using a GP class motorcycle as it has the most power of any class. Changing your bike physics to “Pro” may be helpful as well. From a stop, hold back on to keep the riders weight shifted towards the rear of the bike and hold the to accelerate. The front wheel of the bike should lift off the ground. Hold the wheelie for 8 seconds in any game mode. A long straightaway will be required for this relatively easy achievement that unlocks immediately.

  • Pull a stoppie for 2 seconds in any game mode

This achievement was a bit more difficult as the rider tended to fall over easily before 2 seconds. I was finally able to pull of a 2 second stoppie by setting the bike physics to “Pro” which disables joint brakes. Accelerate to approximately 50 mph and then hold full forward on to shift rider weight forward and hold down (front brake). The rear wheel should lift off the ground. It will take some practice and modulation of the front brake. You may need to use the left stick to try and steer the rider as straight as possible. I crashed on my successful attempt that unlocks in race.

  • Use Rewind during a race in any game mode

At the beginning of any race, ensure rewind in the Riding Aids settings is set to at least 1. Maximum is 6. During the race, press to rewind, unlocking the achievement. You will likely use this feature a lot during your career.

  • Reach 300 km/h and maintain speed for 2 seconds in any game mode

This will require a GP class bike. Moto3 and Moto2 bikes do not have enough power. A long straightaway makes this achievement an easy one to obtain in any game mode.

  • Win a race with a rider from the MotoGP™ Champions category, in any game mode

From the single player menu, select Grand Prix. Scroll right to MotoGP Champions displayed at the bottom of the screen. Select Official Riders. Choose a rider, choose a track, and win the race for the achievement.

  • Win a race with tyre wear active and damage active, in any game mode

This is something that you will actually want to do for every career race, minus the tire wear. From Race Options, ensure Bike Damage is set to either “Light” or “Heavy” and Tire Wear set to “On”. Complete the race for the achievement.

After unlocking the achievement, you can choose any settings you wish. I would recommend leaving Bike Damage to “Heavy” as it really won’t matter. If you crash, you’re likely to rewind anyway, and “Heavy” gives an XP bonus at the end of each race, much better than “Light”. Tire wear gives no such XP bonus.

  • Sign a contract for a season in Moto2™ in MotoGP™ Career mode

At the beginning of your career, as you progress through your Moto3 career, you will eventually be offered a Moto2 contract. Select the Moto2 contract and unlock the achievement.

If you haven’t already unlocked "Stand by Me" or "Rising Star", refer to those two solutions above for an easy method to unlock them and save yourself a lot of time.

  • Win a race with a Team Ducati bike in MotoGP™ Career mode

We will use the same USB Flash Drive trick here as we did for "Stand by Me" and "Rising Star". Near or at the end of the first season while in Moto2, if you’ve won nearly every race, your manager will ask you which teams you might be interested and tell you that you will soon be offered a contract for next season.

I chose “Repsol Honda Team”. After completion of the final race, you are given an opportunity to sign with a new team. Even though I chose Repsol Honda Team, I was actually presented with the opportunity to also join the Ducati and Movistar Yamaha teams. Now is the time to back out to the dashboard and copy your save to a USB Flash Drive. Go back into the game, select a team, win the first race of the new season to unlock one of the three bike related achievements:

    • Ducati love
    • Honda love
    • Yamaha love

Copy the save from the USB back to the hard drive and repeat the process two more times for the remaining two achievements.

  • Win a race with a Team Repsol Honda bike in MotoGP™ Career mode

Refer to "Ducati love" for more information.

  • Win a race with a Movistar Yamaha MotoGP bike in MotoGP™ Career mode

Refer to "Ducati love" for more information.

  • Complete 25 races online

Unfortunately, the only online mode that counts towards completing the 25 online races is Grand Prix. Complete 25 online races in Grand Prix for this achievement. You can boost this with a partner or race online legit. You do not need to win these races; just finish. When the race leader crosses the finish line, you have 40 seconds to do the same. If you are having trouble crossing the finish line in time, a boosting partner can help by posting a slower race time.

These races can be completed in a Private Match with a partner.

  • Win a Split Times race online

Self explanatory. Select Multiplayer from the menu, Xbox Live, create a Split Times race, invite a friend and win. As with any online achievement in MotoGP 14, you will likely need to find a boosting partner as the online community is nearly extinct.

  • Unlock all the riders in the game

Riders, like helmets, are awarded based on your rider level. The last rider will unlock at Level 69, or 287,000 XP. You will likely earn this achievement before the end of the second year of career just by qualifying and racing normally.

XP is earned from nearly every aspect of the game; Practice, Qualifying, Warmups, Race and Online. To maximize XP earned during your career and other races, set Bike Damage to “High” and win races.

  • Successfully complete all the events in "Challenge the Champions" mode

This to me was the hardest achievement in the game. There are 17 challenges in total. The first 16 were easy. The difference here is you are using older bikes that seem to drive like you’re on ice. These bikes even on Normal physics seem to lose grip and crash more often than their modern counterparts.

In these challenges, replays are not allowed, and most are 3-4 laps. Play on Easy and be cautious of your driving. On most challenges, a crash will result in failure and you will have to start again from the beginning. Roughly 3-5 hours to complete all 17 challenges, mostly due to #17.

The final challenge, #17 was the hardest in my opinion. It is on the Valencia course. You have 7 laps, start with a 3 second deficit and it is wet. Remember to drive the course and not the other drivers. Slow in, fast out. Use Full TCS and consider using Normal physics as opposed to Semi-Pro or Pro. Do not mash the accelerator or you will spin out. Follow the racing line to stay where it is relatively dry. In reality, the hardest part was keeping the bike upright on the numerous slow curves.

  • Successfully complete all the Real Events

No real issues here. If you have mastered the tracks playing through career and have an understanding of the bike physics you will have no trouble here. Same applies from the "Challenge the Champions" mode; no rewind and a crash usually results in failure. Play on Easy and take your time. It takes roughly 3 hours to complete all 17 challenges.

  • Sign a contract with a MotoGP™ team in MotoGP™ Career mode

As you progress through your career and advance to Moto2, you will eventually be offered a MotoGP contract. Select the MotoGP contract of your choice and the achievement will unlock.

  • Become world champion in MotoGP™ in MotoGP™ Career mode

Either just before the end of your first season or at the end of the first season in Career, you should receive a contract offer from a MotoGP team. Accept the contract and win enough points during a full season to win the championship. Points are awarded depending on your finishing position. You will need to win the majority of the races in this season to win the championship. This is not difficult on the Easy AI difficulty setting. Depending on skill level, most races can be won by 10+ seconds.
