Welcome to MXGP: The Official Motocross Game. The game is a realistic turn on the official MX1 and MX2 2013 FIM Motocross World Championship, featuring 60 riders, 60 bikes and 14 tracks. The game features several game modes including the core Career mode, 16 player Multiplayer, Championships, Time Attacks & Instant Race.
Career
By playing two seasons in the Career, the first in the MX2 class and the second in the MX1 class (which you will accept a contract for), you will unlock 6 out of the 7 achievements for 190 directly linked to the Career. The seventh achievement ("Motocross star") will take an extra 11 seasons. In addition to the 6 achievements, you will also unlock another 25 achievements for 410
by progressing through and completing the two Career seasons.
1 Million Fans Grind
The ("Motocross star") achievement will be the last achievement you unlock, and it takes an extremely long time in comparison to every other achievement put together. There is no shortcut or quick method to earn fans, as they are awarded in set amounts by playing through seasons in the Career. At the end, this achievement will add an extra 40 hours to your playtime in order to gain the completion. Please see relevant achievement for more details.
Multiplayer
The game only has 6 online achievements for 120. You will earn 2 for 50
simply for playing for a total of 3 hours in online races, win or lose. They must be valid races, as in you will have to finish events to the end as DNF's are not acceptable. You will earn another 2 for 20
for simply participating in and completing an online Grand Prix and a Championship. The last 2 for 50
is earned in the Online Season mode for getting promoted to the MX1 class and then the MX1 Elite class. This is not difficult at all and you're basically not required to beat any human opponents, as long as you're patient. Please see relevant achievements for more details.
Misc
There are several miscellaneous achievements some of which you will earn through naturally playing the Career, others you will have to go out of your way a little, but none are difficulty in any matter. Typical achievements include creating your rider, customizing your rider, entering the pit menu, entering replay mode, earning fans in Career, levelling up in Career, completing and winning a race on very track, getting pole positions and earning holeshots.
Conclusion
MXGP is an extremely easy game to complete, and as mentioned you just need to play two seasons in Career, and a couple hours of Mulitplayer to unlock all but one achievement, and this can be done in 2-3 days of reasonable playtime. The last achievement for the 1 million fans grind will take much longer.
The handling and physics of the bikes themselves feel quite unstable and fiddly at first, but you will soon get used to this after a few races. A useful tip is that you should not rely on the leaning mechanism of the game too much, and instead take corners by letting go of the acceleration and smoothly turn your rider, this will result in less crashes and falling off your bike.
