Rise of the Tomb Raider is the follow-up to the 2013 Tomb Raider reboot. Expanding on the scope from that game, Rise of the Tomb Raider provides a much more open game world, with a variety of collectible items, side missions and challenges available to supplement the main story. The game's achievements fall into four main categories, starting with a number of story-related achievements, then collectibles and completion of side missions/challenges, a few miscellaneous tasks and finally a few associated with a new score-attack "Expeditions Mode" in which each section of the game can be replayed.

The first step towards unlocking the game's achievements is just to complete a full playthrough, on whatever difficulty setting you like contrary to the Xbox One version of the game, there are no difficulty-related achievements in the Xbox 360 version. There are no missable achievements, so just enjoy the game! That said, I'd recommend making a point of completing the optional 'challenge tombs' in each area at a fairly early stage, as these will each provide a fairly significant bonus to aid your playthrough.
Achievements unlocked:
- Quite a Tumble
- Following in Father's Footsteps
- Tougher Than She Looks
- Strange Acquaintance
- Taking the High Road
- A Helping Hand
- The Key To It All
- Whatever It Takes
- The Road Less Travelled
- The Price of Truth
The game has a number of different collectibles to go after in each location - you'll need to find all of these and complete all of the challenges and optional missions to reach 100% game completion. However, for achievements, it’s sufficient to collect only 75% of the ‘narrative assets’ (relics, murals and documents), rather than all of them. You will, however, still also need to complete all optional missions, challenges and challenge tombs, as well as finding all five crypt treasures. In particular, there are the following to seek out/complete:
- Murals - which improve Lara's proficiency in one of three languages.
- Relics - themed to match the setting of the game world, these are items of supposed archaeological significance. Certain relics will also improve Lara's language proficiency.
- Documents - which also add further detail and context to the game's story. Certain documents will also improve Lara's language proficiency.
- Survival caches - which contain bonus resources for use in crafting.
- Coin caches - which contain coins that can be spent to purchase special equipment from the Supply Shack in the Soviet Installation area.
- Strongboxes - which contain weapon parts.
- Challenges - for which you'll need to find all of a certain type of item in a location and interact with it in some way (e.g., shooting targets or lighting braziers).
- Optional missions - giving item and experience bonuses when completed.
- Challenge tombs - nine areas with puzzle challenges of some form, with a skill bonus as a reward for completion.
- Crypts - five hidden locations, each of which contains a special item.

After the game's collectibles, there are then several miscellaneous achievements to go after from completing specified tasks. You may unlock some of these in the course of your main playthrough and collectible hunting, but now's the time to go after those that you don't yet have.
Achievements unlocked:
- Firestarter
- Bar Brawl
- Rapid Recovery
- Renegade
- Triple Threat

Finally comes Expeditions Mode. This allows you to replay individual sections (chapters) of the game with a score-attack format. You'll need to complete each chapter with at least a bronze medal score, including any 10 chapters with a gold medal. A selection of 'cards', which apply a specified effect to the replay and a positive or negative score multiplier, are available from the in-game marketplace, purchasable with either credits that you'll earn in-game or real money. You'll need to make use of this marketplace to unlock the game's achievements, but they're all readily unlockable without spending any real money here.
Achievements unlocked:
- These Belong in A Museum
- Way to Go
- Gilded
- Well Begun is Half Done
- My Own Worst Enemy
- That All You Got?
While the game’s content is for the most part very similar between the Xbox 360 and Xbox One versions, excluding DLC there are only 50 achievements for the Xbox 360, compared to 66 for the Xbox One. The following is a list of the ‘missing’ achievements, the absence of which makes reaching 1,000

- Fearless
- Reading the Past
- Master Fletcher
- English Pedigree
- Chemical Warfare
- Trick Shot
- Quite the Collector
- Golden Child
- Iron Will
- Paying Respects
- For My Next Trick...

Endurance Mode DLC
Introduction:
The first DLC for Rise of the Tomb Raider begs the question: how long can you survive in the wilderness? Lara must eat and stay warm while trying to collect Artifacts so that Trinity doesn’t get their hands on them. The way to unlock achievements is to select the appropriate challenge (much like the base game). You can only select a maximum of five challenges for each playthrough. I recommend doing five playthroughs, but you can do it in four you’re really lucky. You can use specific cards to make your playthroughs harder or easier, though I suggest using cards that benefit you.
Conclusion:
Overall, Endurance Mode is quite fun (especially when using the Toxicity Card) and the achievements aren't that bad. Remember to select the appropriate challenge in order to unlock the achievement you're going for, or else you won't earn anything and you'll have to start another playthrough.
Baba Yaga DLC
Introduction:
Baba Yaga is the second DLC release for Rise of the Tomb Raider and is story-based on the Baba Yaga folktale. The DLC is short but awesome. Unfortunately, there have been reports of some achievements not unlocking when they’re supposed to. Right now, there are no solutions other than starting a new game and playing it over until you can re-do the Baba Yaga DLC, hoping that they unlock this time around.
Conclusion:
Overall, the Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch DLC is short and has some easy but glitchy achievements.
Cold Darkness Awakened DLC
Introduction:
Cold Darkness Awakened is the third and final DLC for Rise of the Tomb Raider. The Soviets were working on their own super solider formula during the Cold War, but it didn't go as plan the facility was shut down that is until Trinity found it for their own useage. Now it’s up to Lara to shut down the facility for good while avoiding the infected trinity soldiers. This DLC, in my opinion, is the weakest and shortest of the three. Nine out of the ten achievements have to be earned by completing the respected challenges, with one lone achievement earned by completing the DLC.
Conclusion:
Cold Darkness Awakened is a very short and easy DLC.
