Introduction:
Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - Deluxe Edition is a 2.5D video game developed by Armature Studio and released by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. It was ported to console versions when it was originally on Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita. This game is based on the DC Comics vigilante Batman, it is a companion to the 2013 video game Batman: Arkham Origins, and is a part of the Batman: Arkham series. As Arkham veterans jumping into this side-scrolling Batgame, please remember -- this is not the full retail version. The combat system is completely different and clunky at times. This Deluxe Edition features 3D maps, difficulty levels, batsuits, and enhanced visuals from the original mobile versions.
The Fundamentals:
When starting out as Batman, these are the button layouts and the various actions they represent:
- Detective Mode; (hold) Analysis
- Grappling Gun
- Crypto Sequencer Interaction; (Hold) Run;
Evade
- Cape Stun
- Punch
- Counter; Silent Takedown
- Aim Ready; (hold) Crouch
- Fire
- Line Launcher
- Gel Launcher
- Batclaw
- Batarang
Story Achievements:
This is not difficult but it can drag a bit. You MUST defeat a certain boss LAST for them to leave a certain crate that pertains to a Batsuit item that you're needing for a specific achievement (like when defeating the Penguin's endgame will give you the New 52 Belt). Just note the order of the bosses that you have defeated and you're good to go or else you'll have to replay the game through again. The game will note when you start a new game which boss you have defeated already with their unique icon in the select screen.
The game will take you to:
- Gotham City at Nighttime
- Industrial (Black Mask)
- Cell Blocks (Penguin)
- Administration (Joker)
- The Lighthouse
- Arkham Wing (underneath the Cell Blocks)
Here is a quick rundown on the missable Achievements in the game: "The Collector," "Breathless," "Grave Digger, "World's Snazziest Dresser," "Bad Case of the Mondays," "Party Pooper," "Circuit Breaker," "Flew the Coop" and any one achievement connected to finding clues ("World's Greatest Detective") and combat combos ("LEAGUE OF SHADOWS").
Please follow each individual achievement on how to obtain them on your first playthrough. Also, follow this thread as it shows all of the case clue locations.
Multiple Playthrough Last Boss Note:
To obtain the last Batsuit piece and well as the (different) last boss, you MUST defeat a different boss each time. For example, defeat The Joker, the Penguin then Black Mask. This order will give you the final One Million piece (belt) when you open the last crate left behind. Remember, the first 2 bosses makes no difference, just defeat a different one last each time.
Conclusion:
When going into this game, remember - this is not the console version of it. It's a side-scrolling game with very little wiggle room during the combat sections. With a bit of persistence, you will 100% this game in no time.
