Introduction:
Welcome to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Training Lair guide for Kinect! Just like most free Kinect games, this game is quite short and doesn't provide much to keep you interested in playing. It is possible to get all of the achievements in one playthrough, but chances are you will need to play a few times to get the hang of it for some of the achievements.

Step 1 - Playthrough in Each Lair:
There are five lairs you must play through in order to complete the game. They will always be in the following order:

  1. Training lair.
  2. Donatello lair.
  3. Michaelangelo lair.
  4. Raphael lair.
  5. Leonardo lair.

For each of the turtles' lairs, you'll be equipped with their weapons. The ones that'll give you issues, if any, will be Raphael's and Michaelangelo's. Raphael's sais can be thrown and some objects are at the edge of the screen and require you to hit them with a thrown sai. At times the sais won't throw properly and the aiming may be a bit off. Michaelangelo's nunchucks are quite loose and will continue to sway even when you are standing still. The overall goal is to hit every target and avoid all bombs and shurikens.

Step 2 - Uploading Facebook Pictures:
You can wait until you finish a game to take a photo and then post it to Facebook, but the easiest way is to go to Gallery from the main menu. You can take photos and post them to Facebook one at a time. Doing it this way will take around 20 minutes.

Step 3 - Mop Up:
If you have any miscellaneous achievements left you can replay the game over and over as many times as you'd like. The game is very short, but the "Terrapin Elite" achievement can be challenging.

Conclusion:
The game isn't too difficult but have patience and keep an eye out for the flashing red and green lights. As long as you keep moving you should be able to hit every object with no problem.

There are 12 achievements with a total of 400 points

  • Completed the game for the first time.

This is pretty self explanatory. Just complete each of the 5 lairs to complete the game. A game lasts roughly 10 minutes. It doesn't matter how well or poorly you do, just as long as you finish the game.

  • Posted an image to your Facebook page

    See "Pepperoni Masterazzi."

  • Completed the game with no shuriken hits

  • Posted 5 images to your Facebook page

  • Scored over 15,000 in the Michaelangelo challenge

    See "Master Raphael."

  • Scored over 15,000 in the Donatello challenge

  • Scored over 15,000 in the Leonardo challenge

    See "Master Raphael."

  • Scored over 15,000 in the Raphael challenge

Getting over 15,000 points in each of the turtles' challenges will come naturally when going for "Terrapin Elite" as you will get well over the required amount. After breaking objects you will get a Pizza Time round which is basically a bonus round to earn a few more points. When the challenge is over you'll also get a Flawless bonus if you destroyed every object and evaded the bombs and shurikens and also a Streak bonus for the longest streak you've completed.

  • Posted 10 images to your Facebook page

There are two ways to do this. The longer way is after you complete a game you can take a picture and upload it then. The easiest and fastest way is to select "Gallery" from the main menu and select a background. If you haven't played through the game yet, you'll only have one background unlocked but that doesn't matter. When you're ready select to have you picture taken and upload it to Facebook when prompted. This method takes under 20 minutes to complete.

  • Destroyed every object that spawns in a single game

    See "Terrapin Elite."

  • Completed the game without hitting a bomb

    See "Terrapin Elite."

  • Destroyed every object, hit no bombs, untouched by shuriken

Individually each of these tasks aren't too difficult, but when you have to do all three within one game is does pose as a challenge. There are five lairs (including the training lair) in which you cannot be hit by shuriken, can't hit any bombs and must break every object that pops up. Here are a few tips:

    • Michaelangelo's nunchucks will keep moving a bit even when you're standing still. Ducking down with your hands past the bottom of the screen will remove them. The only time you have to worry about them is when a bomb spawns. If a bomb is about to spawn from the right, move over to the right with at least your hands further than the spawn point.
    • For Raphael's lair I just kept shooting sais to make sure I hit the objects that were on the edges of the screen.
    • When you see a flashing green light, that means a bomb is about to appear and will pop out where the light is flashing. You can move around just make sure your weapons don't hit them.
    • A flashing red light signifies a shuriken is about to appear. It doesn't matter where it appears from, you can duck and avoid a shuriken from any direction. By ducking down, I mean you pretty much are kneeled down. You can't stay ducked down because the Kinect sensor will pick up on this and the next shuriken will still try to shoot towards your head.
    • While ducking to avoid a shuriken, swing your arms across the bottom of the screen to hit the objects that will pop up. (Unless there is a bomb about to pop up, obviously).
    • Hitting a shuriken with your weapon does absolutely nothing and will not prevent you from getting the achievement. As long as it doesn't hit your body you're fine.
    • Keep moving. As long as there are no shurikens or bombs then just keep swinging your arms. Don't wait for objects to appear because you can have several pop up at a time.
    • The pizza bonuses at the end of each lair do NOT count towards this achievement. However, beginning in Michaelangelo's lair, the pizza bonus will have a shuriken you must watch out for and so forth after that.
    • From what I can tell, the bombs and shurikens spawn in the same places each time.
    • I found it better to lean towards where the bombs will spawn. If a bomb is coming from the right, then I would step to the right. It will usually shoot up and to the left out of your way.
    • If you get hit by a shuriken, hit a bomb, or miss a target you'll have to restart from the beginning. Luckily the game is really short so you won't have too much to replay. If you hit every object and avoid the shurikens and bombs, you'll know by the Flawless bonus you get at the end of each lair. So if you don't get the Flawless bonus, just start over again.
