LEGO Horizon Adventures Isn't Coming to Xbox Because Reasons

Summer Game Fest 2024 saw the announcement of LEGO Horizon Adventures, a plasticky brick-based take on Sony and developer Guerrilla Games' open world action series, coming to PS5, Switch, and PC. Strangely, an Xbox version was conspicuously absent, despite Xbox releasing loads of its games on PlayStation.

It appears that there will be no quid pro quo when it comes to releasing first-party PlayStation games on Xbox, and, despite LEGO Horizon Adventures coming to Switch and PC, it won't be coming to Xbox. At least, not yet. As for why, one of the game's developers had a pretty toothless response when asked.

“Right now, we're just very much focused on pushing this hardware to its limits and making this game look as absolutely amazing as it can possibly be on this hardware,” said Narrative Director James Windeler (as per Game File via Pure Xbox), seemingly ignoring the fact that the Nintendo Switch boasts considerably less technical grunt than a PS5 or Xbox Series X|S.

“And you know, we don't really have anything to announce about Xbox right now", he added. It's worth noting that Windeler doesn't completely rule out an Xbox version of LEGO Horizon Adventures, but right now, it seems highly unlikely.

  • SONY is a freaking joke. If anyone thought they would reciprocate any of their games coming to XBOX…they were fooling themselves. SONY is a waste.
  • Pushing console to the limits, it's a Lego game wtf are y'all really pushing??? The amount of studs on screen lol Series X is the much more powerful console out of all them so whatever Playstation is capable of Xbox is too so that is absolutely not a real reason
  • @AirForceMetroid yeah I always said it, Xbox is working for unity for gamers while Sony is literally time and time again has said and proven by their actions, they only care about themselves not ever their gaming community literally themselves, if it serves no benefit to their wallet they don't care
  • @scardro but tbf if the roles were reversed, I doubt MS would want to come off their high horse either.
  • They want to push the hardwares to their limits to make the game as best looking as possible is a freaking joke of an excuse when t is coming out for switch... the Xbox hate is real.
  • You guys are as clueless as whomever wrote this article. It’s Sony IP, anyone with half a wit would assume it’s coming to PS only.

MS needs revenue this releasing games on better selling platforms. Sony on the other hand, does not. Hope that helps clear up confusion in short;-)
  • Microsoft should have just played hardball and kept CoD off PlayStation until they agreed to stop paying devs to keep games off Xbox
  • @6 - Remember, it’s being released on the Switch and Windows PC as well…
  • #8 I’d say that Switch had always different target audience and never was in direct competition to either So y or MS. PC ofc is in league if its own and MS goes where it makes most sense money wise so PS?
  • Sorry, why are we letting Sony have CoD? I'd have stripped those asshats of everything.
  • Obviously. It's based on a Sony IP. You'd sooner see a snow snow in Phoenix, AR before you see a license Sony owns on Xbox.
  • @11 MLB 21, 22, 23, 24
  • @9

It's why I keep thinking MS is slowly backing out of the main console market and going gaming software like Sega. They put all their content on PC on release a few years back, and now they are starting to put content on the Playstation.

I think they are going to eventually drop main consoles, and stick with their portable and software
  • @12 Apologies. I don't count trashy sports garbage as games. That's like counting pigs with lipstick as dating prospects. More power to you. But I'll pass. lol Get back to me when they port God of War, Bloodborne, etc. Once that happens, I'll pack my skies for a nice snow day in hell.
  • @12 Sony didn't want The Show on XBOX. It was MLB. They wanted the game more available, was part of their new license agreement.

Those Sony Boomer Japs will always be stubborn - just ask Sega of America.
  • Yep that was out of pocket. No need to throw hatred towards an entire people because you dislike the decisions of a corporation. It reeks of ignorance and misplaced hostility.
  • I wouldn't call that hatred. Modern thinking would, I'm sure.
  • @17 Nah, I was just too lazy to spell out Japanese. I don't consider the appreviation I used to be racist at all and wasn't my intent. I find it weird you instantly think that.
