When you get towards the end of the Vernworth chapter in Dragon’s Dogma 2, you’ll come across a number of quests that require procuring “suitable raiment” in order to proceed.
The suitable raiment in this instance is “formal attire” that can benefit you in a number of main quests.
The first is for “The Stolen Throne” quest, where you can don formal attire to attend the masquerade ball at Venworth House in the Venworth Castle grounds. While there are other ways to approach this main mission, like visiting Wilhelmina at the Rose Chateau Bordelrie, if you equip the formal attire and masquerade mask, you can unlock the Nobles’ Night Out achievement.
The other main quest that requires them is “Feast of Deception,” which is the final part of the Vernworth act, so to speak. So, what does “formal attire” actually mean. Well, it means that you need to procure two items:
Courtly Breeches
Courtly Tunic
While you can buy both the Courtly Breeches (150,000 gold) and Courtly Tunic (155,000 gold) from Philbert’s Sundries in the Merchant Quarter in Vernworth, there are easier ways to get them both.
You can find Courtly Breeches and the Courtly Tunic at the following locations:
The Courtly Breeches can be found in a chest in the Comptroller’s Office; as well as a chest upstairs in the Watchhead’s Home (both in the Noble Quarter in Vernworth).
The Courtly Tunic can be found downstairs in the Watchhead’s Home (Noble Quarter again).
Both of the items can also be found in a chest in the northwest backroom of Vernworth Hall in Vernworth Castle; as well as in a chest in Sven’s Chambers on the 2F of Vernworth Castle.
There are numerous other places to grab them too, and while you only need one set equipped to progress the “Feast of Deception” main quest, you may as well get the others too, as they sell for a pretty penny at any of the game’s traders.
