Getting a Head Achievement in Dragon's Dogma II
Getting a Head
30Acquired a preserved medusa head.
How to unlock Getting a Head
There are 3 Medusa achievements in Dragon's Dogma 2 to unlock. This one, the Off with Its Head! (15G) achievement and the An Eye for an Eye (30G) achievement, all of which are inherently linked because you need to decapitate Medusa, get a Preserved Medusa Head, and then use it on a Medusa, all of which come hand-in-hand with one another.
So, first things first, Medusa's only spawn can be found in the far southwest of Battahl, at a place called the Caliginous Depths (on the way to the Dragonsbreath Tower).
Now, to get this efficiently you need to:
- Switch to the Thief class.
- Have a couple of Ferrystones and a Portcrystal.
- Have a Mage with the Lightning Affinity ability in your party.
- And if possible, have the Ring of Momentum, to increase your stamina.
Now, the strategy is relatively simple. Head into the cave, and head straight for Medusa (avoiding her petrification gaze), and then climb up to her head and then spam the light attack button - making sure you land critical attacks.
Sure, she'll fling you off every so often, and when she does, just climb back up and start smashing her in the face again.
After a while, if all goes according to plan, you should insta-kill the Medusa and her Preserved Medusa Head will fly off (that's achievement number 1). Picking it up is achievement number 2.
And then, finally, to set you up for the third achievement, An Eye for an Eye (30G), you'll want to drop a Portcrystal outside the entrance, and use a Ferrystone to get back to any town as quickly as possible. When there, put the Preserved Medusa Head into storage (this is so that it doesn't decay).
Then, after waiting a week (or doing something else for a week), grab the Preserved Medusa Head and use the second Ferrystone to head back to the Caliginous Depths’ Portcrystal. Then, when inside, hit pause, go to ‘Items,’ and equip the Preserved Medusa Head.
Now, this won't equip it in the weapon slot, but in the lantern slot instead. So, to use, hold the
button and press
on the d-pad to brandish it, and then finally, shine the head at Medusa herself. After 10-20 seconds or so, Medusa will turn to stone and the third and final Medusa achievement will unlock.
