Best Xbox Games of 2022

You know that year when you can pinpoint everyone going mad? That’s 2022. The year that Russia invaded Ukraine, America decided to dial back the clock 100 years by overturning Roe vs. Wade and allowing states to ban abortions, and the cost of living crisis hit millions of families around the world, and politians (especially in the UK) did absolutely nothing to help. 2022 was the year where Elon Musk tried to buy Twitter, and then didn’t. It was the year that Will Smith slapped Chris Rock in the middle of the Oscars, and the Johnny Depp and Amber Heard trial became a worldwide phenomenon. In 2022 we saw the rise of the COVID-19 Omicron variant, but all wasn’t too bleak, as thankfully Boris Johnson resigned. From a pop culture perspective 2022 saw Amazon’s new Lord of the Ring series land on Amazon Prime, and the Game of Thrones prequel finally saw the light of day. After 26 years Top Gun made a triumphant return to the big screen in Top Gun: Maverick, and Robert Pattinson surprised all with his performance in the actually really great, The Batman. Despite all of that though, the talk of the town was Sony’s Morbius, a film that released at theatres, flopped; and then flopped again when Sony misread the Morbius memes for love rather than ridicule and rereleased the movie in theatres. Double yikes! In terms of games, 2022 kept up the trend for the insane, as it was a year that saw Microsoft purchase Activision-Blizzard for $68.7b (pending approval), Sony purchase Bungie for $3.6b, and EA and FIFA cut ties with one another after decades of working together. The PlayStation VR2 was also announced, PlayStation Plus was enhanced so Sony could attempt to compete with Game Pass, and GoldenEye’s comeback was announced, blowing the mind of everyone.
