Best Xbox Games of 2021

If you thought 2020 was nutty, you ain’t seen nothing yet! 2021 kicked off with a load of Trump supporters storming the US Capitol building to overthrow the US government, which is as ludicrous as it sounds in the 21st century. 2021 was also the year of the global COVID-19 vaccine rollout, as well as the year that the giant container ship, the Ever Given, managed to block the Suez Canal and disrupt global trade for weeks. America withdrew its troops from Afghanistan in 2021 too, while Wall Street brokers lost a lot of money when it tried to short GameStop stock. Squid Game took the streaming world by storm too. In terms of games, 2021 was where the games industry truly saw the effects of COVID-19, with game delays across the board (including Overwatch 2, Dying Light 2, Horizon Forbidden West and God of War Ragnarok), while gamers still struggled to get their hands on both the Xbox Series X and the PS5 thanks to stock shortages. In 2021 the Microsoft purchase of Bethesda was finalised, EA bought Codemasters, while Sony purchased Nixxies, Bluepoint and Housemarque as it prepared for the future. Unfortunately Activision-Blizzard was the latest company to be shrouded in controversy after the Ubisoft allegations in 2020. 2021 was also the year of the rise and decline of the NFT. By that we mean: a company would announce an NFT project (the rise) only to backtrack an hour or two later after public outrage (the decline). That process happened more times than you’d actually think possible. Anyway, here’s 2021’s best Xbox games.
