Best Xbox Games of 2010

While the Icelandic volcano, Eyjafjallajokull, erupted in 2010, disrupting air travel and grounding 100,000 flights, you could argue that it wasn’t the most explosive thing of 2010! Oh no, that goes down to the public falling out between Infinity Ward bosses, Vince Zampella and Jason West, and Activision. After the Infinity War pair were fired, the duo not only sued Activision but they set up Respawn Entertainment too, taking a load of IW’s staff with them. And on top of that… they signed with Activision’s biggest competition: EA. Wow! 2010 was the year that the iPad launched; the year of the Deepwater Horizon explosion, which led to the worst oil spill in history, leaving BP’s reputation in tatters; and the year that the world was captivated by the Chilean miner rescue. It was also the year Kathryn Bigelow became the first woman to win best director at the Oscars for The Hurt Locker. 2010 said hello to Inception, Shutter Island and Lady Gaga’s ‘Bad Romance,’ and goodbye to 3 amazing long-standing TV series: Lost, 24 and Heroes! In the world of games, 2010 was incredibly eventful and saw the Kinect launch, the 3DS announced, the Xbox 360 S released, as well as the launch of the PlayStation Move. Oh, and OnLive launched too, ha. Microsoft even rolled out its Windows Phone 7 in 2010, for gamers on the go. On top of that Warner bought a majority stake in Rocksteady, Gears of War 3 was unveiled on Jimmy Fallon as games started to hit the mainstream, and Ubisoft canned instruction manuals in an attempt to be more eco-friendly. 2010 was also the year Activision and Bungie announced its strategic partnership (which would later spawn Destiny) and developer crunch entered the conversation after the wives of Rockstar San Diego penned a public letter around the launch of Red Dead Redemption. 2010 was wild, and it had some fantastic games too! Here’s 2010’s best Xbox games.
