Best Xbox Games of 2007

As far as years go in video games, few can rival 2007. Mass Effect, Assassin’s Creed, BioShock, Halo 3, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, The Orange Box. What a year! Outside of games, 2007 was the year of Spider-Man 3, Shrek the Third, Transformers, 300, and The Big Bang Theory started its 12-year run. 2007 was also the year of Beyonce’s ‘Irreplaceable’ and Rihanna’s ‘Umbrella.’ Believe it or not, the first iPhone launched in 2007 as well, and the new Wembley stadium in London, England was finally completed. Elsewhere Madeleine McCann went missing, Sarkozy was named French President, while Tony Blair resigned as UK Prime Minister. 2007 was also the year that England banned smoking inside public places, Live Earth held 9 concerts around the world and Nancy Pelosi became the first female Speaker of the House in the US. It was also the year of the Hollywood writers strikes and the year Google launched Android. 2007 outside of the games themselves was also a memorable year in the industry. It was the year Bungie left Microsoft, Gamespot’s Jeff Gerstmann was axed over the Kane & Lynch review debacle, while EA acquired both BioWare and Pandemic. 2007 was a costly one for Microsoft, unfortunately, who forked out $1b over the Red Ring of Death furore. Nintendo on the other hand struggled to meet the insane demand for the Wii, while Activision bought Bizarre Creations. Better news for Microsoft though, as Halo 3 generated $170m in the first 24 hours becoming the biggest entertainment launch in history, breaking all previous records! Speaking of Halo 3, here’s 2007’s best Xbox games.
