The Return of Megg Achievement in Halo: The Master Chief Collection

This Easter Egg can be found in the mission, Cairo Station.

Unlike the Megg Easter Egg in Halo: Combat Evolved, this hidden egg is actually a special line of dialogue that is announced over the PA system once you reach the hanger bay that houses the Covenant bomb. In order to trigger the unique line of dialogue, the following constraints must be met:

• Play Cairo Station on Solo Legendary
• The Thunderstorm skull must be activated (Envy & Scarab skulls may be activated as well to help)
• You must reach the bomb room without ever getting shot

Although this sounds almost impossible at first, it’s actually quite simple for experienced Halo players, especially since the Scarab skull is allowed. First off, you’ll want to understand that the Thunderstorm skull does nothing more than upgrade all Covenant enemies to their highest rank. This mean the Grunts and Elites in this mission will be promoted to Spec Op and Ultra units. As with any Legendary playthrough of a mission, be sure to utilize the Noob-Combo (Battle Rifle/Plasma Pistol) during this mission. A charged Plasma Pistol shot will drain an Elite’s shields immediately and a three-round burst to the head with the Battle Rifle will kill them with ease.

As for reaching the end of the mission without getting shot, you have the option to revert your save to the last checkpoint if you do take damage. This will not void the achievement and makes this task much easier. Once you reach the final bomb room, if all the prerequisites are in place, the following line of dialogue can be heard, though faintly, over the PA system, “Megg, please report to the red courtesy phone. Megg, to the red courtesy phone.” The achievement will unlock right after the announcement has concluded.
