Who Needs Them? Achievement in Halo: The Master Chief Collection
Who Needs Them?
10Halo 3: On The Ark, complete the level without entering a vehicle on Legendary.
How to unlock Who Needs Them?
As you progress past the initial firefights of this mission, you will immediately be made aware that this is predominantly a vehicle-emphasized mission given the open outdoor landscape and number of enemy Wraiths along the path to the main objective. Don’t let this intimidate you, for completing the mission on foot, though tedious, is entirely doable, especially if you are playing cooperatively with one or two other players.
With that said, avoid grabbing any Covenant Choppers, Ghosts, or Wraiths when battling the enemy in the several valleys within the canyon. In addition to this, you will also have to deliberately ignore any Mongoose or Scorpion vehicles that are dropped off via Pelican. As mentioned earlier, this achievement is better suited with cooperative partners as they can utilize the firepower of both Covenant and UNSC vehicles to kill enemy troops while you stay back on foot.
Once you enter the map room after several exhausting firefights against Brutes, Wraiths, and even a Scarab, the necessity of vehicles for the rest of the mission diminishes. Simply fight your way past the remaining Covenant units inside the structure and make your way towards the objective. When the final room inside the Cartographer has been cleared, approach the Pelican to finish the mission. If you managed to avoid using any vehicles throughout this mission, the achievement will unlock after the concluding cutscene.
